Well I just had a whole A** panic attack this morning. time to let the Gals ground me with some lovely reactions while I deep breath and eat ice cream.

At one point in this episode, we flashback from Starbuck crashing, to the Galactica pilot's funeral, then we flashback to Zak's funeral, at which point we then flashback to Zak and Kara in bed. Lotta layers and amazing it makes sense. Also, Kat, Tigh is the XO, for eXecutive Officer, lol. Katee grabbing her head as she walks out of Adama's cabin was just phenomenal acting. Apparently it's because Katee had just gotten a lesson from Olmos about not goofing off between takes until she got the good takes and then they were SO in the scene after that that the reason she grabbed her head because she thought Olmos was gonna throw something at her cause his acting is so intense. Honestly made the scene. That scene was the one made me fall in love with the show.

I love Doc Cottle, and his smoking, lol...! He reminds me a lot of a Doctor I had as a child that literally saved my life, after a younger hotshot sent me off on holiday with a clean bill of health due to 'a cold'. I was days away from being dead with pneumonia. My actual doctor got the x-rays, drove to my house, spoke to the neighbours, found out which town we'd gone to, and called every single tourist spot up there until he found us, and got us set up with a local hospital. I'd take a chain smoking doctor like that any day over a pat on the back pill pusher, lol...! Doc Cottle's great ❤️

It definitely hits Adama extra hard because Lee has told him for years Zach didn't belong in a Viper, and Adama pushed him to do it and it got him killed. I get the impression he hid behind the fact that Zach was signed off as capable for a looong time, and Starbuck just ripped that away.

I remember the first time I saw this episode back in the day and I was like 'Oh good, some levity, some happiness...' and then NOPE! All those poor pilots got blown up. Definitely knew this was going to be a rough show at that point!

I'm loving your reactions to this so far! That scene with Starbuck and Commander Adama is powerful and I love how Edward James Olmos can convey strong emotion without yelling.

I'm really enjoying your reactions. It makes me so happy that you both have immediately become so invested in the story and characters. I'm old, so I grew up with the original 1978 BSG series, but as much as I liked it, this one is superior in all regards. And Bear McCreary's music is a character unto itself. I am SO looking forward to following your journey on this show. I think it's some of the finest episodic television ever made. Starbuck was my favorite character from the original show, and this reboot was my introduction to Katee Sackhoff and her portrayal of Starbuck quickly became my second favorite of this series. I'd tell you my favorite, but spoilers. Needless to say, I'm all in for Kat's reactions to anything Starbuck related. :) That and I love the fact that you both understand how shows can try to manipulate your feelings, and yet you STILL get sucked in and made to feel the emotions of the moment. That is a joy to watch.

The story I heard was slightly different. EJO took Katee aside and told her she was afraid of crying on camera and to stop acting and let herself feel the emotion. Let herself feel the disappointment and regret and uncertainty. If you watch that scene and the look EJO is giving her, I think her reaction was very genuine as she was really tapping into the moment, but also the energy she was getting from EJO and his calling her out. She even said in an interview that it was a pivotal moment for her as an actress learning her craft.
