The writing gets in your head, but they couldn't have pulled it off without the acting chops. James Callis does such a great job being a selfish horny nerd, I hate his character so much. 😆 And Tricia Helfer's toxic, seductive magnetism is unreal.

As I'm sure has been discussed before, I do hope at some point you'll be able to check out one or more of the original Battlestar Galactica episodes. Iconic (one might say cult classic) sci-fi adventure with some of the same big themes, but a lot more kid-oriented.

Yeah, Boomer and Starbuck were originally played by male actors. For Boomer, either casting works. Katee's Starbuck is actually far more masculine and tough as nails than Dirk Benedict's was. Dirk was a hot shot pilot, but a bit of a whiner. If a male actor played Starbuck today the same way Katee Sackhoff plays them, the character would be considered toxic and an anachronism in our modern world. But her playing Starbuck as a bada** female works. As much of a fan of the 1978 series as I am, sorry Dirk, but Katee OWNs that role.

Ahh, the crossfades during Baltar's prayer... this is BSG doing it's experimental "for the art" thing that the show sometimes does. It's partly why I love the show, because pretty much everyone involved had a passion and a love for the series, and elevated it above content into something more like artistic expression through experimentation in all aspects of it. Does it always work? No. But the willingness to attempt brings so much to the discussion than playing it safe.

It's so much fun doing simultaneous watch alongs for this series! Granted that won't last long right now but it's great seeing the different point of view. As for this episode, the one constant in the Fleet is Baltar's sense of self-preservation lol
