I watch the DVD version. It's the full length, had like 6 minutes before you started yours (which also included the stock intro and "last time" scenes which aren't shown for you.) And showed a really good scene with the president trying to deal with the press while seeing snakes all over the podium. Not sure why that was cut from yours?

Time Lord

Hey y'all! I'm not sure exactly what versions were watching from what source, but I'll see if I can find out any info on it! I know there are technically sources that have extended cuts in comparison to other versions (from what I've heard). Apologies for potential difficulties syncing up because of having a different version of the episode!

Nolan

Officially there are only 5 "extended" episodes. One in S2, one in S3 and three in S4, including the finale rolled into one continuous movie length episode instead of seperated into parts. S2 also contains a 90 minute episode that aired as such, in addition to that season's extended episode. There are two movies and two webisode series with 10 (short) episodes each. Pretty much every episode starts with a "The Cylons were created by man..." type prelude and include previously on Battlestar Galactica segments, which are also weirdly important cause the showrunners started dropping set ups for the episode in them via older/deleted scenes with ADR.

Andrew Nguyen

Despite this show being set in a universe with advanced technology, I love their decisions to keep things grounded with "old school" tech. Whether it's the little ship models they're pushing around to keep track of the mission or the use "primitive" music such as war drums. Also, bagpipes in space is an excellent choice by Bear McCreary

Jonathan

Can we just appreciate how amazingly the special effects in this show have held up, working with early 2000's CGI?

Troy Convers

In this ep, there's a whole scene where the President is giving a press conference to address the fuel shortage rumours and she's imagining a snake coiling around the podium.

Yeah I've had the same problem, my episode starts off completely differently to what The Gals are watching - Roselyn on the podium, snakes snakes snakes, etc. No one's fault of course, different regions doing their own things, but I'm not sure I get my version to allign with the reaction. Any idea how many minutes we should skip in to get to where The Gals start? Thanks.

Chris Devlin

I thought I was going mad at first. lol Thanks for the updates though. I'll see if I can find the time cutoff for others.

Chris Devlin

Around 4:59 on my version syncs up with the Gals. Can't say the whole episode is the same yet but it's a start.

Thontor

I thought either I or they were watching the wrong episode at first. They also skipped the scene showing Boomer and Crashdown finding the tylium asteriod

Troy Convers

The Vipers at zero altitude at the base looks it's age though.

Troy Convers

Hmm, Gaius is starting to sound like a cult leader. Holy Rollers cult incoming? 😂

Nicole Mazza

Well, at least in ancient Greece the name/title Pythia came from the Python that Apollon slayed in Delphi (which became where the oracle was set up there henceforth), multiple interpretations of the snakes in the prophecy in the show make total sense. I love how multi-layered the writing of the show is. <3

Keith Goodnight

The original 1970s series also had an episode called "The Hand of God"-- in fact it was the finale of the first and only season-- although its story had no similarity to this episode. On the other hand, the plot of this episode has definite similarities to a completely different episode of the 1970s series. I find it interesting how the creators of the new series keep tossing in "sideways" callbacks to the original like that, even while overall the new series is so utterly different from the original.

Troy Convers

Dunno about that, Moore just cherry picked from several religions. His writing gets just a little less impressive the more you analyse it.

Wade Wallenstein

I've watched this so many times over the years and this episode always makes me emotional. It's BSG at it's best with the fleet having its back against the wall and getting a major win to keep morale up.

Brendon Waldron

This episode is perfectly timed, the audience needed this win just as much as the characters did...

ahector

I just want to binge watch all the remaining episodes with GG reaction right now. It's so good. Lol

John

The song that plays during the celebration after the battle is "Wander My Friends." The lyrics are Irish Gaelic, but translated to English are: Wander my friends, wander with me Like the mist on the green mountain, moving eternally Despite our weariness We'll follow the road Over hill and valleys To the end of the journey Come on my friends and sing with me Fill the night with joy and sport Here's a toast to the friends who have gone from us Like the mist of the green mountain, Gone forever

John

So far the versions you're watching match my DVDs *after* I sync them up. The intro is different up through the credits, but once the spoiler montage at the end of the opening credits ends, it's in sync the rest of the episode.

John

The only thing they never really got right was the Viper flight characteristics. Sometimes they move like aircraft, sometimes helicopters, sometimes (like when Apollo went into the conveyor belt) they just zoom unrealistically like it's from a comic book. Babylon 5 showed it was possible to realistically portray space fighters with the CGI of the day, and it came before BSG.

John

Bear's music has an "old" feeling to it, in that while they may be an advanced space faring civilization, they're also an old civilization with a long and rich history. I always felt the music gave a sense of "family" to the show, reinforcing that it was always about the people and not the futuristic setting.

Hugo Fitzpatrick

You're stressed now, how quant. Loving these reacts, I banked a few up to binge as I have to sync with my old DVD boxset, now well worn. I remember fondly pirating most of the show up to the end of S3 back in the day, could not get enough, then I had to wait like the rest of the audience for the show to resolve itself and every twist and turn there-after.
