Hi everyone, you may have noticed that a new stable version was released yesterday (v74, followed by v74.1). At the same time, some of you have been wondering why nightly builds and changelogs have been unusually quiet over the past few weeks.

Let me clear that up right away: development has not slowed down, quite the opposite. As I briefly mentioned a few days ago, this is currently the most intense development phase the project has ever seen. We are deep into a massive transition toward what is, in every sense, the future 2.0 of the program (even if the version number will be v80 😅).

So... where are the Nightly Builds?

Right now, the development branch is undergoing a complete architectural transformation. To move toward the plugin-based system I mentioned recently, I have been "stripping down" the core code, moving website support externally.

Right now, the dev version is essentially a "hollow shell", clean, fast, but currently lacking the built-in site support of the most of the previous versions. Releasing a nightly build in this state would have no sense, as it wouldn't be functional for your daily needs yet.

A new development strategy: two parallel paths

To keep the current version stable while the future is being built, development is now split into two branches:

The Public Branch: From now on this will receive only quick bugfixes and essential maintenance to keep the current version running smoothly.

The Dev Branch (The Future): This is where the real magic is happening, a full rewrite, deep optimization, and the foundations of a brand-new architecture designed for the long term.

Exclusive Patreon Beta

Because the changes are so significant, I want to make sure the transition is seamless. Toward the end of February, I will be launching an exclusive Beta right here for Patreon supporters.

This Beta phase is expected to last for several months to ensure that every component is fully polished and stable. Once the testing period concludes, the two branches will merge back into a single, unified version, which will represent the definitive future of the program.

As a beta tester, you’ll get early access to:

A brand-new, optimized download core (OkHttp): faster, more stable, and built for heavy workloads.

Python-powered web browser support: a true game-changer that opens the door to bypassing Cloudflare, CAPTCHAs, and even Widevine-protected sites.

Plugin-based architecture: modular, lightweight, and designed for faster updates, quicker fixes, and long-term scalability.

If you've ever wanted to see what’s coming next, or help shape it, this is the perfect moment to jump in.Thank you for your patience, your trust, and your continued support 🙏 The quiet weeks were just the calm before the storm… and this one is going to be big 🌩

Stay tuned 🚀
