Development Diary #11: Expanded Domain Customization, New Plugins, and Core Enhancements (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone,
It’s time for another update on the progress of the JAM Alpha. Over the past few weeks, development has been moving at a rapid pace. We've not only expanded our library of supported platforms but also re-engineered a core feature to give you unprecedented control over how the application handles URLs.
Here is a breakdown of what’s new in this build:
🚀 New and Updated Plugins
I am continuously expanding the list of compatible sources to ensure you can archive your favorite content seamlessly. This update introduces:
New Plugin: Added dedicated support for Hiperdex.
New Plugin: Added dedicated support for Templescan.
New Support: Integrated Ravenscans into the Mangastream framework.
🛠️ Advanced Domain Management (Subscriber Exclusive)
I have officially re-introduced the Domain Editing feature, but with a massive upgrade. Previously, this feature only allowed you to modify existing domains. In this build, I have completely overhauled it to allow you to add custom domains from scratch.
You can now map any domain to the specific plugin or framework of your choice. This is incredibly powerful for a few reasons:
Seamless URL Shifts: Easily handle domain changes or URL migrations for existing sites without any need to wait for an update of the program.
Instant Compatibility: Add brand-new sites that share a framework with existing, supported platforms.
Custom Routing: Map custom domains to generic frameworks. This means you no longer have to manually select a generic framework every single time you input an URL into the software.
As a reminder, this advanced Domain Editing suite will remain an exclusive feature for active Patreon subscribers.
⚡ Performance, Fixes, and Public Sync
Public Version Parity: All the recent updates, optimizations, and improvements implemented in the latest public release have been successfully merged into the Alpha build.
Python & Browser Server Optimization: The bridge server connecting Python and the web browser has been significantly improved for better stability, faster communication, and smoother data handling.
Bug Fixes: Squashed a myriad of minor bugs and edge cases reported by the community over the last few days. Thank you to everyone who submitted logs!
🔮 Looking Ahead: Mangaplaza Progress
Under the hood, I have introduced several new capabilities to the Python backend. These architectural changes are paving the way for Mangaplaza support, a major integration that I have been actively development-heavy on for the past week. Stay tuned, as this will open up a lot of highly requested content.
A Massive Thank You to My Supporters! 🙌
None of this would be possible without your incredible generosity. To every single one of you backing this project: you are the actual engine behind JAM. Your financial support, feedback, and bug reports are what keep this project alive, evolving, and pushing forward every single day. I am deeply grateful to have such a dedicated community behind me.
Happy testing, and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
