Hi everyone!

After days of hard work, I’m thrilled to finally share with you, my awesome supporters, the latest plugin for the JAM Alpha: Mangaplaza support! This has been highly requested, and it's finally ready for you to test.

However, unlike many of my previous plugins, this one comes with a few strict limitations and specific workarounds you need to follow to ensure everything runs smoothly.

⚠️ Important Disclaimers (Please Read First)

Patreon Exclusive: Since this is an official website, this plugin will remain exclusive to Patreon supporters even in the future (when the Alpha eventually merges into the public release branch).

No Guarantees / Use at Your Own Risk: As always, I cannot guarantee long-term updates. If the site breaks the support or sends an official takedown request, that could mean the immediate death of the plugin. Enjoy it while it lasts!

No Free Lunches: This plugin DOES NOT allow you to bypass paywalls or download paid chapters for free. You must legally own/purchase the chapters on your account to download them.

⚙️ How It Works & Key Recommendations

To give you some technical context: Mangaplaza uses a highly complex image obfuscation and encryption system. I initially tried to reverse-engineer it, but honestly, it was an absolute headache. So, I went with the classic, reliable approach: "Let the web browser do the heavy lifting and grab the results after it decrypts everything." 😅

Because of this, the plugin captures pages by scrolling through the reader view to trigger the browser to load the decrypted images, which the script then intercepts. This introduces a few crucial rules:

Set Concurrent Downloads to 1: I highly recommend downloading only one chapter at a time for this site.

Official sites track user behavior; heavy concurrent scraping could trigger a ban on your account (which, as always, I take no responsibility for—forewarned is forearmed).

The browser cannot handle scrolling multiple pages simultaneously (since the window needs to be active/in focus to scroll properly). Other chapters in the queue will likely hit the Python server timeout and crash.

Beware of Missing Pages: Opening too many tabs slows down the browser engine. This can cause loading delays during scrolling, meaning the script might miss some pages entirely without throwing an error (e.g., if it only intercepts 10 out of 20 pages, it will still flag the job as "complete" after downloading all the 10 intecepted pages). To avoid missing pages, please set your concurrent downloads to 1 in the settings.

🖼️ Image Reconstruction & Performance

Another catch: the images on the website are served in split fragments. If the program just downloaded them normally, you'd end up with a folder full of broken image pieces.

To fix this, I implemented an internal feature that reconstructs the full image from these fragments directly in memory.

The Performance Cost: This process takes significantly more time. Beyond just downloading, the app has to rebuild every single page before saving it to disk.

Don't Panic if it Looks Frozen: For chapters with hundreds of pages, the progress bar might stay stuck on "Getting pages list..." for a long time. It hasn't crashed; it’s just working hard in the background.

Output Format: Final images are saved as uncompressed PNGs to preserve maximum quality.

🛠️ For the Purists

If you prefer to archive the raw, untouched fragments exactly as they are on the server (or if you just want faster download speeds), I’ve added a toggle for this. Go to Extras -> Mangaplaza to turn the image reconstruction feature on or off. Turn it off for raw fragments/speed, or turn it on to let the program do the dirty reconstruction work for you.

🔑 Paid Chapters & Login Process

Please note that to download your purchased chapters, you must log into your account within the browser instance used by the program.

Go to Extras -> Python Support to open the browser window.

Navigate to the website and log into your account.

Close the browser window (don't worry, the web browser uses a persistent profile) and use the plugin normally.

🚨 CRITICAL: If you try to download a paid chapter without being logged in, the program will attempt to open it anyway, resulting in an infinite loading loop. This automated loop might trigger security flags on your account. Please make sure you are logged in first!

❓ How to Install

The download link is attached below for eligible tiers. Just copy the plugin (the attached .jar file) into the plugins folder inside your Alpha directory. Keep in mind that JAM scans for plugins only upon launch. So, if the application is already running, you must restart it to allow it to detect the newly added plugin.

Ok, I think that covers everything! I really hope you enjoy this plugin and that it makes up for all the hours I poured into coding it 🤣

Thank you all so much for your continued support! ❤

WOW! I am so excited over this....might be just what I need to combat the extreme fatigue that was going to have me go lay down....(COurse I went to check on somethings online to see for updates here and there, but I been hardcore falling asleep even while trying to game!) I am so excited to test and play with this...but if I can't keep up, do forgive me as I will of course get back to it when properly recharged and energized! (Though honestly, want to try it now despite my body telling me to go and lay down! XD)

Hello again! Did get to test it out a little, though only did like six chapters before I needed to cave in and nap. It has been working well, it did three chapters in their entirety on the first try. The next three, it became a situation where the first time attempting to download a chapter, would not get all the pages. However, I would wait like 5-7 minutes, then reattempt that chapter, and the second try, all the pages would load. Also of note, for anyone using this, for me, it was auto set to have the reconstruction process turned off. But once I turned it on it seems to be doing a fine job of stitching the images together! Hoping to test it out some more, once I've had my dinner.

Thank you for testing it out, I actually just realized I made a mistake and set the reconstruction feature to be disabled by default, so you're right, anyone who wants to use it has to turn it on manually. I'll invert that logic in the next update, thanks for pointing it out 👍 As for the missing pages, that is unfortunately the sore spot of this scrolling procedure. If it fails to 'intercept' the image from the browser (for whatever reason, a failed load, a scrolling error, etc.), there is sadly no way to detect it. As I explained in the post, if the script receives 10 pages instead of 20 and downloads those 10 successfully, it assumes everything went smoothly and won't catch the error. Unfortunately, since the site loads images dynamically, it's also impossible to check upfront how many pages there are (which would allow us to do a final comparison between the intercepted count and the expected total). I haven't found a solution to this problem yet, but I'll keep brainstorming to find a valid workaround. The only advice I can give right now, as I mentioned in the post, is to minimize the risk of images failing to load by limiting your open tabs and, as you correctly did, waiting a little bit between downloads to avoid bottlenecking your connection or overwhelming the site's servers

I might be doing be overkill on the wait time between each use, but honestly rather be safe than sorry! Besides, been playing games on my steam deck while waiting, so it hasn't been that bad with waiting! Making slow but steady progress on my collection! This is not a complaint, but a random observation. I don't know if your program is getting better at pulling the screenshots, or if it's just some randomness on the site, but some of the chapters ended up being MUCH bigger in size, than when i first started using it! Like it all have been readable no matter the size, but when i say bigger, I am not just saying in file size, but in actual length and width of the pages in some of those chapters!

Don't know if it was just a bad timing coincidence, or if it was a really fast attempt to make a counter measure, but sometime after midnight, they seem to have updated their online viewer thing...it has a weird thing it does, when you get to the end of a chapter, that seems to confuse the plug in. Granted got scared and held off on doing anymore what's it started giving time out red error bars....Was nice though while it lasted. :)

I'll take a look, maybe it’s just a tiny change in the HTML code breaking support and it’ll be a quick fix 👍

Fingers crossed for success!

I took a quick look at the site and you're right, they did change something. Now, at the end of a chapter, the preview popup for the next chapter doesn't show up anymore. Instead, there's a toast notification in the top left that says 'Continue reading'. Since the Python script relied on that popup to know when the chapter was fully scrolled, not finding it caused the script to get stuck waiting until the safety timeout kicked in and killed the process to keep the program from freezing. So, I'll need to update the code to look for this new toast if the old popup isn't there (I'm not sure if they got rid of the popup completely or if it still shows up depending on what you're reading, so better to keep that too). It's really weird that they updated the site right at this exact moment, I don't think JAM is well-known enough to put us on their radar, but it's definitely a very unlucky coincidence 😅

The night it first implemented on the site, it wasn't completely stable yet. While I did stop using the program when the error started happening, I did go and do some reading on the site, just in the normal view in browser way. And while most times, it had that thing where it would have that click to continue reading notice, there were a few times where a chapter reverted back to the old system. Haven't had a chance to check it out today on the actual site, so they may have gotten it fully stable in doing it now all the time. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Awesome! I haven't tried it yet, am a little leery, cause I really am suspecting they are trying to counter this...now they have a message on their front page about issues preventing some users from being able to view content...so gonna wait a bit to see if that goes away...
