Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed, the Mangaplaza plugin is currently experiencing issues due to recent changes made to their website over the past few hours. While working on a fix, I unfortunately discovered two critical bugs related to the final image reconstruction process.

Here is a breakdown of what is happening, what I’m doing to fix it, and some good news on future improvements.

1. The Image Reconstruction Bugs

The Missing Last Page Bug: I found a bug in the reconstruction loop that causes the script to completely skip the very last image of a chapter. This was an oversight on my part, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

This means most of the chapters you have already downloaded are likely missing their final page!

The good news is that this was the easiest issue to address, and I have already successfully fixed it.

The "Image Seam" Bug: While testing, I encountered a much more subtle issue, though this one is not caused by my code. The website slices its images with "redundant" edges, meaning the pieces do not align perfectly flush; instead, they overlap by one or two pixels. For example, you might notice that the last row of pixels of the first image fragment is repeated on the first row of the second fragment:

This redundancy creates a slight "glitch" or stretched misalignment (an offset artifact) in the final reconstructed image:

This is likely a countermeasure implemented by the site to prevent automated image reconstruction. Since this visual glitch doesn't appear when viewing the manga directly in a standard web browser, they must be using specific CSS/JS properties (such as absolute positioning or negative offsets) to render them correctly.

I am currently analyzing their frontend code to see if we can replicate this logic and resolve the misalignment.

What This Means for Your Downloads

There is still some work ahead to get this plugin fully operational. Unfortunately, this also means that previously downloaded chapters likely contain these errors, and you will need to re-download them once the updated plugin is released, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience 😓

Better Performance and New Features on the Horizon!

It’s not all bad news! I’ve already made some great progress on optimizing the tool:

Faster Scrolling: I successfully fixed the image acquisition logic for the new version. Furthermore, I discovered that by interacting with the reader's settings, we can enable a double-page layout. This allows the script to load two pages at once instead of one, which will cut the total scrolling and loading time in half!

Preventing Skipped Pages: I noticed the website saves your last viewed page. If you had previously opened a chapter, the scraper could accidentally skip pages by starting mid-way. To fix this, I added a function to the script that clears the browser's localStorage before opening the page, ensuring every chapter starts fresh from page one.

Next Steps

The plugin is becoming much more robust and efficient. Once I figure out how to handle the image overlap offset, I will release the fix immediately.

Thank you so much for your patience, support, and understanding as I work through these technical hurdles!
