Why does Belgium get an emphatic "good for you" for cracking down on human zoos in the 1950s while other negative basic human behavior is "uniquely American"? I love you guys but this podcast feels like it's turning into a "here's all the ways america sucks the most" podcast no matter what the topic is. It's like reddit in podcast form. Can we go back to ghosts and cryptids and vagina islands and stuff?

My moms "elemental school" (Danish: Folkeskole) teacher was exhibited at a human zoo because he came from the Danish colony of St. Croix. This was in the early 1900s. Him and his family was exhibited prominently in Tivoli in the middle of the capital Copenhagen, and drew more than 200.000 visitors.

I think you might be projecting with the "uniquely American" thing, because I don't know what you've been listening to but it doesn't sound like this show at all.

I think you're projecting as well, they talk about white supremacy and it's place in all this which is never said to be uniquely American. Capitalism (which is also blamed imo) is also not uniquely American.

I was quoting Jesse directly with the "uniquely American" thing about being "passionate to a point". That's not American that's just human nature. But you could be right. Maybe I'm just tired of hearing it in general and I'm more sensitive to it now.

I did a poor job quoting what Jesse said. My bad. I was referencing when he talked about how it's an American thing to be passionate to a point. It definitely happens all the time in America but that's just human nature, not America specific. Guess I just got annoyed at that particular argument.

Would you have an issue if this podcast constantly mentioned how great America was? Also I don't really know what you are talking about, having listened to every episode of the podcast.

Fair question. Honestly, yes if they were all USA #1 all the time I'd get annoyed by that. That's why I avoid fox news and whatever other insane talking heads. I might just being hearing it a bunch from other sources and now my ears are tuned to hear it.
