I still have some time until my time out wears off, so I wave away the black orb that even now I can't understand. But isn't that a bit of a cocky thing to say? "Even now?" There are likely people who have been looking at mysterious black mana for much longer than my few years in the system, yet I still say that. In the end, I find it fascinating. Learning where it came from and discovering more about its true nature would be interesting, and I won't lie and say I'm not curious. But at the same time, I don't care all that much.

Mostly, because none of that information will change what it means to me, even if it is some weird fragment that isn't materialized like most of them.

I pause and almost chuckle, finding myself suddenly curious about it out of nowhere. I really am a fickle man. Isn't it a bit like using a smartphone without much care for how it works, and then one day you fall down a rabbit hole of videos, only to hours later find out that one of its main components is just a rock that humans tricked into thinking?

“Feral one?”

“Yes, Myrra?”

“Can I try your glasses?”

I pause and narrow my eyes, regretting that I don't have a phone with me. Well, I had one, but it broke during the fights. A photo of a literal catgirl wearing round, thin silver-framed glasses would sell for a lot to certain audiences.

Still curious, I take the glasses off and hand them to Myrra, who puts them on and adjusts them a few times so they fit her better. Unsurprisingly, even if they are a bit small, they look good on her... and here we go. I watch the glasses change size until they fit her perfectly.

I’m sorry, Elian, I did not know your game. Of course, you would put in a mode that would make them adapt to a female lynthari if one wore them.

“Feral one, these are terrible. They reduce my senses so much! Is this some sort of training tool?” Even if she looks silly, she quickly picks up on the effect, and I nod.

“Something like that,” I say. I don't ask for them back, hoping the distraction will allow me to delve back into my thoughts. Then, I go and check parts of my status.

Lvl 440

Strength: 375

Dexterity: 356

Constitution: 100

Mana (Stage 1/3 - Vast Mana): 2043 + 2043

Even though I'm still suffering from a severe case of mana deficiency, my mana stat is looking a bit better. One day, I might find a cure.

At the very least, I think the effects of my constitution and my active skills on my body are beginning to show more and more. It has never been easier for me to channel mana, nor has it ever been this easy to create black mana. I also already have a few active skills at level 80. That is good, though of course I plan to go higher, even if some of my active skills are already at the level of a fresh Champion.

If I recall correctly, 80 is just the start, and the upper 80s belong to the truly powerful. Then, at level 90, the Absolutes start. That means I should likely expect an even bigger slowdown at level 85.

Bored, I flick my finger and open that part of my status as well.

Active skills (8/10):

Focus - Lvl 80

Perception - Lvl 77

Redistribution - Lvl 80

Eclipse (Pride) - Lvl 71

Empyrean Lance - Lvl 56

Manifestation - Lvl 47

Weave - Lvl 18

Mana Manipulation - Lvl 81

With [Mana Manipulation] reaching level 80 when I started pulling on ambient mana on my own, I wonder what higher levels of it will allow.

Lastly, there are also my passive skills. With the Epic Adaptive Defense waiting to be replaced, I just need the system to note my performance and dig into that passive a bit more. Something tells me it won't be easy, but something also tells me it will be crazy good.

Passive skills (5/5):

Mana Wavelength Tyrant (Mid Arcane)

Mana Wave Predation (Unique Arcane)

Cognitive Hyperprocessing Vector (Low Pristine)

Adaptive Defense (Epic)

Heat Resonance Restoration (Low Pristine)

Things are looking pretty good. Of course, minus my crumbling body, but I bet many mana enjoyers like me have the same problem. It should be a fairly normal state, even if gradually increasingly more painful and cumbersome, even as it makes handling mana easier, but at the same time, much more difficult.

Once again, I feel Myrra shove me. “Feral one, I’m bored. Introduce me to your friends.”

“Nope, I’m scared. I will be sitting here under this beautiful tree, enjoying this beautiful shade thrown by that beautiful giant wyvern, until the hour Lady Lissandra gave me passes.”

“But why?”

“Because I want to ask her about my friend. I wanted to ask the Rulers, but I was warned their attention could bring unwanted attention to him, and I believe that. So, I will ask her instead, and I will try my best not to ruin her mood before then.”

“You know she doesn't care about these things. In a way, she even likes you and sees you as her disciple.” Myrra’s voice becomes a bit more serious and quieter, with a hint of gentleness to it.

“It’s possible. I don't look into other people’s heads, so I can't say for sure. But even if it only means getting a tiny bit better chance, why wouldn't I do that?” I answer her.

“I guess,” Myrra sighs. She gently places the glasses back on me, where they shrink a bit to fit me perfectly. Before letting go, she caresses the side of my head and then stands up energetically. “Hey, you, lumoran guy! Show me that fancy sword on your back!”

For a bit, I watch her head toward Brichant, who sits on the ground next to Savant and Weslin. They still seem unsure what to do. When Weslin looks at me with a question, I just shrug. He shrugs back, and our conversation ends that way to our mutual satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Morwag isn't sitting at all. I don't think he has taken his eyes off Lissandra ever since we arrived, and he doesn't look away now as Brichant takes out Calvorn. The sword starts talking to Myrra in a polite voice, calling himself an evil-slaying sword, and asking her to take him away from this lunatic.

Lissandra, of course, feels that gaze Morwag gives her, but she doesn't seem to be too bothered. Well, not until Morwag takes a step toward her. Only then, from where she sits on a boulder, does she lift her eyes and look at him.

With eyes wide open, the demon starts shaking. His skin becomes pale, and his throat and head move as if he is about to vomit. He stops. I can hear his ragged, deep breathing as he whimpers like a scared animal. The surface of his eyes grows wet as if with tears, and his hands constantly twitch, closing and opening.

Then, he takes another step toward her and stops, closing his eyes shut. His heart thuds loudly, and his legs begin to tremble. Though he is much taller than she, he now looks so small.

Morwag opens his eyes again and takes another step, pulling his leg through the dirt as if he is unable to lift it any higher.

Another barely half-step.

And right after, he falls. As if someone flipped a switch, his body and mind give up, and he falls to the ground like a puppet with its threads cut.

“Not bad,” Lissandra says quietly while looking at the demon before turning to me. “Do you need the rest of the hour, or can we continue, little pup?”

“We can continue,” I say, standing up. When I take my first step, I expect a push against me, but I find there is none, and I quickly cross the distance. “So-” I start, but I'm stopped.

“Glasses,” Lissandra says.

I don't say it out loud, but I swear I have no idea what I will do if she also puts them on.

I hand them to her. Holding them in her hand, she turns them around a few times as she observes them and then speaks.

"Biometric Tethering. Mana Signature Indexing. Geospatial Beacon. Acoustic Vibration Capture. Visual Feed Passthrough. Mana Binding Synchronization. Thought Pattern Recognition. Proximity Signature Logging. Environmental Mana Mapping. Biological Feedback Looping, and a dozen or two more functions."

The light reflects on the glass of the lenses, and I gulp. Is Elian maybe an app developer on Earth in his free time? But then, it's not like I didn't expect it, so I’m not even angry.

“All powered by ambient mana and your own,” Lissandra completes.

“What a leech!” I shout out loud.

Ignoring me, she takes out a black dagger, and I notice it is cracked. Still, she flicks it, and a pulse of mana surrounds the items she is holding. Her voice deepens as she speaks, this time addressing the glasses directly.

“Funnily enough, it wasn't that difficult to track the coordinates where all this information was being sent. Maybe it was even done on purpose. You are a brazen man, aren't you? Once I'm done here, I will make sure to find you. And if you decide to run, you'd better make sure to do a great job of erasing your tracks.”

Lissandra then molds the glasses as if they are made of play dough until they are turned into the shape of an orb. She looks at me. “Toys. Useless tools made for incompetent people. You either learn to use your trait the proper way, or you don't deserve it and will never be able to reach its full potential.”

The orb in her fingers continues to be pressed further and further, shrinking until there is nothing more than a speck of dust that she flings away. “Show me your full status.”

I do as I’m told, and she watches it for a while. She opens her mouth but then closes it, and instead of ordering me, she asks, “What is your plan?”

“Currently? To strengthen my Empyrean Ichor to the third stage. I think it will forcefully evolve my Mana Physique and turn it back to the 1st stage, after which I will use the 2nd stage token I got not that long ago. Then there is another construct I have been working on that I will start properly fairly soon.”

“So, not slowing down?”

“Not at all. I’ll be speeding up.”

“Good. Use your 3rd stage strengthening token for your ichor now.”

I don't tell her that the 2nd stage isn't even fully applied yet, she must know that, so I just use the token. For a moment, I think she might be helping me or planning to aid me through it, but as soon as I confirm the use of the token, I remember who she is. Of course, it will be all on me.

Some of my minds that were training even now snap back, reallocating to help me endure, but I already feel like all my veins are about to burst. The blood flow literally pulls on my mana, and my veins are visible through my skin. Even my eyes feel swollen, as if they are about to pop, to say nothing of the headache.

“Little pup, if you can't focus your concentration, go back under your tree,” she says.

For a moment, I feel anger swell inside of me, but I push it away. I wait a second so the decision is made by me and not by that feeling, even if the result is the same.

“I can stay,” I say, even as I fight to keep my balance.

“Good. We should have three days before the Rulers barge in here, though they don't seem to be in a hurry. That is enough time for what we have planned.”

As she says this, the wyvern reacts, twisting its head to look at her and speaking in a loud, rumbly voice.

Lissandra answers back, speaking normally. “A week? Are you lazy or dumb? Put some effort into your part. Three days are more than enough.”

The wyvern opens its maw and lowers itself further. The head touches the top branches of the trees around us, breaking some of them as it ends up dangerously close to Lissandra. Lightning crackles in that open maw, while beyond the field Lissandra created, the earth shakes. Mountains in the distance crumble, and miles long lashes of white lightning flash through the area like whips made of plasma, cutting through everything. It creates the sound of snapped power lines. Even the ceiling shakes, with broken crystals falling from above.

In an even deeper voice than before, the wyvern speaks, and my entire being shakes. I find myself having trouble even seeing or breathing.

Then, as fast as it came, it is all gone. It is the wyvern who breaks eye contact with Lissandra first, letting out a few more sounds before turning away.

Unbothered, Lissandra turns back to me. “He is a bit difficult to work with, but useful. And stubborn. He stubbornly refuses to even speak in a way the system could translate, but he called all of us system slaves and parasites.”

Dusting non-existent dirt off her clothes, Lissandra speaks some more. “To explain the situation and why you are here: I used the mark I placed on you, a disciple communication token, and the dagger made of your black mana, then waited for you to use a teleport to redirect it here. As expected, it was laughably easy. This floor is currently partially blocked from the other floors and the Beyond. I used the hole I made before they took control of that flawed array they are so proud of, and with the help of the wyvern, disconnected this floor. The next steps require more of your black mana."

"What do I get in exchange?" I ask.

"I'm confident we will make a fair trade, with you very likely getting much more out of it than you offer. Little pup, not to brag-"

"You are bragging."

"-but there were Absolutes coming to Eladore and begging for me to teach them."

"They must have been weak Absolutes."

"Indeed, though I still find them much better combatants than what I have seen so far of this era."

"You don't need a mana heart? You still seem to be missing one, and now you have more people here than you expected. You even could have let Diligence’s vessel pass and taken his."

She gestures at a smaller boulder nearby, and I move to sit there. For a bit, Lissandra looks toward Myrra, who grabs the unconscious Morwag and pulls him under the tree to flip him over. The catgirl then breaks a small branch, chars it with her fire, and begins to draw on his face.

"I already have a heart in mind," Lissandra says. "One I'm confident will fit me very well." Briefly, a small smile flickers in her eyes. "Once I'm out of the tutorial, I will head to the Labyrinth of Xyphos. I was there once, not long before Eladore fell. Because of the way that place functions, my Avatar is still in there, along with my new heart."

I want to ask her how confident she is in defeating that Avatar. Though not as strong as prime Lissandra, it is likely still very powerful. But the question doesn't come out as I see her confident bearing, the look of someone in absolute control.

She can be a bit cool sometimes, I have to admit.

"Black mana is a fragment of a god, I suspect, though I'm still not fully sure how it works," I say.

The silver haired woman nods. "I’ve known about it being a fragment for a while." She waves the cracked black dagger. "But it was only from the wyvern that I learned a bit more. Telling you about it will be part of my payment for you supplying me with it."

"Can you do thought acceleration or create a mind space where more time passes inside than outside?" I ask her.

"It is almost insulting for you to ask if I can do such basics."

"Good. I want to train with you in that accelerated space, and I want you to look into my severed connection with my bond. I want to know if you can track it, if he is safe, or possibly help him if he needs it. If nothing else, I want this more than the training or any information."

"That much is reasonable. Very well. I offer information on your "black mana", I offer my help regarding your bond and what I think happened to him, and lastly, I offer my guidance and training. Within your mental space, I will be able to accelerate time for a year of training, as that is what your mind should be capable of handling. But little pup, even if it is just accelerated thoughts, it is still one year of my life. If you bore me, if you disappoint me, if I find you lacking, or if you complain, I will cut that time short at any moment."

"That sounds fair to me. I accept. In exchange, I will generate as much black mana as I can for you while giving it all my effort."

"The deal is made, then. So, for a start, let me tell you a story. A story about one of the weakest gods, one who was looked down upon by the others. A god of the very thing the current system mana is based upon, and who was the first to stumble upon something mysterious from another universe. An invader, a parasite, a spark at the heart of our universe that set ablaze the fire called the System. And the natives of this universe only united against it once it was already too late."

TFTC! Poor Mor Mor will wake up and challenge an actual Champion in all but name

Yami

I thought fragments could be stolen? from the dead.

Yami

Are all fragments part of dead gods? It makes sense for the eternal flame one but was the first star a god as well?

Al

That cliff ughhh

Al

Amazing chapter need more

Madje Tobi Marc'Avent Tchona

1 year of training with Liss? isn't that overkill? that's almost powerleveling. By the end of this training, he would be a champion level or very very very close.....

zoarian

The new book sounds so fucking hype. A year of training with Liss? Yes, please! She's so awesome, and her relationship with Nat is peak. Nat will turn into an absolute machine. Gotta love her shitting on the Magi :D I can already imagine the insults... "The Magi? What can he do - card tricks?" Why would anyone use fancy equipment to train their trait when they can melt their brain instead? It does seem like the System Mana is based on Black Mana.

Ansordia

OMG LORE DUMP INBOUND!?!?!

mitchell kaiser

Fantastic chapter as per usual thanks Cerim! I love the Cockroach chapters, she’s so interesting!

Nemesis

I keep forgetting that Nat is wearing glasses these days

Flo Zilla

I am bettting on a few chapters with timeskips not a whole book.

TreeReader

Well not anymore lol

mulchymulcher

A year of training with granny 🪳 is a lot, but some stress testing for Nat's mental space is probably needed, otherwise he'd be a bit unprepared for the confrontation with chris

John Smith

I mean… he’s already basically a champion anyhow. He’s missing 10 levels and the officially classification, and that’s it. He already has skills at level 80, he already has low pristine items and passives, and he still has over a year left in his Tutorial. The training will just chuck him into proper champion strength territory, rather than newbie champion territory.

John Smith

Yes, it was stated a few chapters ago by Ruby

Nemesis

Training montage let's go!

Nemesis

Maybe for Nat. Knowing Cerim, we will probably only get half of it 😂

Nemesis

I wonder if The Magi Elian is sweating bullets right now. Nah, he's probably too cocky for that. Even if he doesn't think he can win, he probably believes he can set things up so he can escape the battle

Chun

Nat getting direct guidance/training from Lissandra for ONE ENTIRE YEAR… oh boy, that is actually insane Nat is already insanely strong compared to other attendees. During the beyond party, Ruby noted that Nat already had more mana than every other attendee and he was only in his third year of the tutorial, this was even before his body upgrade and third trait. Now with one year left in the tutorial, he’s basically the strongest S rank aside from Nyssa, and also the leader of the top guild, and there’s essentially not a single attendee who even comes close to his absolute dominance over mana. After this training with Liss, he’s might actually have a decent chance of clearing the 13th floor. I wonder how the other contenders like Savant, Tacita, and Victoria are even going to be able to keep up with him, if they even can 😅 Edit: by 13th floor I meant the tutorial floor

Nemesis

On another note, isn't the Labrynth of Xyphos beneath the planet on the tutorial floor Nat is on now? Or was that what one of the tournament events was based on?

Tercius

Man I am glade its not Thursday xD

Yozora

i thought that 2000 was enough to evolve his mana status again

Nemesis

It just occurred to me that MorMor isn't going to stand a chance in their duel. It's going to be even more one-sided than last time with all this personal training from Liss

Raven

Nice

ForwardArrow

I think what makes Lissandra so exciting to watch, even compared to all the other powerful beings in this series, is that she refuses to stay still. The Rulers all seem pretty comfortable in their positions and tend to be in about the same place every time we check in with them. Lissandra is actively fighting to improve and grow in her own way, but doing so by bending almost the entire setting over her knee. The kind of character who just breaks 1000+ year status quos on a whim because who cares. Its the source of her mutual respect with Nathaniel, but unlike him she actually has the power to do the worldshaking things she wants to. Very excited for how much of a problem she's going to be if she gets that manaheart from her own clone, I think she's on track to surpass the original with her current drive.

Joe Woodhouse

Exactly so. The next chapter will likely begin with "With my head still reeling from everything Lissandra told me, [...]"

Nemesis

Hmm, I just realised Liss said it'd be a year of compressed time, but she never said how much real time will pass. I can just imagine Nat coming out afterwards only to realise only 4 seconds have gone by 🤣 Also, that means Nat will have to suffer through a trait upgrade for an entire year. I bet this is part of Liss' plan too. Overcoming adversity or what not, plus she can probably make him really closely observe the upgrade process as it happens in slow motion...

Chun

It gets even crazier the more you think back on his previous experiences training with Liss. He got at a few hours or days and at most a week with Liss. Hell even on the 7th floor where they were together for months, Liss was mostly away dealing with the two absolutes of the floor. So one entire year isn’t just a massive boost, Nats power will probably skyrocket.

AL

I knew Liss Liss would rant about the toy glasses

Melih

Both

Nemesis

While I suspect she always had some of that in her, I think part of that was also awakened by Nat. She was disgusted by what complacency had led her to become. Something that was so easily manipulated by the system into being ignorant and lifeless.

Fdrugc

Tftc this is going to be fun I hope Morwag isn't disappointed by his last few days in the tutorial.

Nemesis

Apparently you have to be a Champion to unlock the next stage. Presumably there are further requirements we don't know yet

ForwardArrow

I remember her talking about how she did feel like his drive was pushing her again back in the fifth floor, so you're probably right on that front. They feed off each other's energy well.

Nemesis

On another unrelated note, I've been wondering for a while now if Nat and team 4 may sit down and have a discussion about whether going forward they are going to deliberately try to break the remaining floors main quests. Yes it is very dangerous and there is a real risk of death, but the System also provides suitable rewards, and they really need those with what is awaiting them on Earth after they return.

Nemesis

Something I've wondered about before, did Liss purge all of Nat's influence when she corrected her imprint on the 3rd floor, and when she struck a deal with a ruler for her memories? Or did she leave Nat's determination/drive so she could take it for herself?

Primo

Just like the current ruler of pride who seems to be the only one still seriously challenging beyond, Liss fit as a good oponent

Nemesis

Or timeskip straight to the end of the 1 year of training 😅

J W

They did have a lot of Spyware installed. Nat should have read to TOS

Primo

Probably once Nat becomes fresh champion level which is after this training arc with Liss I assume, their group will be too overpowered to just do the main quests so they will aim beyond it if the setting doesn't have too many OPs with absolutes, like I remember christoph wiped the last floor of tutorial easily as a champion

Flo Zilla

i think it would be more fun if they came out and 300 days passed. And Liss beeing like "I told you, the best your pathetic body can endure"

Primo

This is it, this is the gamechanger moment that will give Nat enough strength to contend with christoph once the tutorial is over

Thien T

1 year mental training with THE Roachsandra herself? Nat finna walk out of that hyperbolic time chamber as a certified Champion before even getting his Class Upgrade.

cpt jimmy

Is Nat finally learning "The History of 'black mana'!"

Joken

What was the function of the labyrinth of xyphos again?

Subliminary

So Nat has a fragment of the OG System God? Let’s gooooo

Subliminary

That’d be terribly lame since he only has about a year left

Melih

I wonder how long it took Mirec to come up with all those names for the glasses? Coming up with names is such a struggle, he must have really suffered (╯︵╰,)

Thien T

Labyrinth of Xyphos was a location recreated by the System to serve as the stage for an event during the 2nd tournament. It's the one where the Labyrinth makes an Avatar for each individual inside of it to mimic them and where Nat let Lioren pilot his body and go ham.

ariel maoz

For them it will be 3 days, sp about what morwag expected to have in beyond

Sammot

Back when he fought the wyvern baby and it was broadcast to all the champions and absolutes by lust they only still compared him for within the last 1000 years to nyssa adrian and some guy thst left the tutorial not long ago almost being an absolute . So yes he probably surpassed everyone except those three in the eyes of everyone.

Worros

I suspect he also need to upgrade from vast mana to the second stage

Sammot

Hope nat is gonna solo a champion before level 450!

HappyHippo

Is Elian maybe an app developer on Earth in his free time? 🤣🤣🤣

Nate 3000

Nat about to exit his training montage like a Goku landing on Namek

The Arcane Emperor

The training is going to be hype. But I think you mean the 6th floor. The 13th floor is something even the Rulers, besides Pride, can't clear.

Tyler Engelke

No, Nat will not be even close to clearing the 13th floor. IIRC it was stated that no ruler had even beaten floor 12 until Pride came back and beat 12 and 13 in like five minutes just to flex. No matter how much training Nat gets, I believe it's exponentially harder for each point at this point. I think Nat will come out at ~85 mana manipulation and exercises to continue training. Each beyond floor is supposed to be exponentially harder than the last, and past floor 9 or ten, basically every native of the floor is at least champion grade.

Nemesis

Liss said they have 3 days

Schmidt

I misunderstood which friend he was talking about, I thought he was talking about Aaron and dennis

Baramus

His plans of evolving his traits and constructs might have pushed him there, but the foundation laid here guarantees it, for sure.

Schmidt

Can’t wait for the art of Nat with glasses

Nemesis

Sounds like the System is an invader, not one of the gods

Tyler Engelke

Pride seems to really just be vibing. Dude doesn't get involved in basically anything and only acts to keep the peace among rulers.

Abhishek

Holy sh*t! Tftc

granndfunk

Hmm. Liss wants her avatars mana heart but why do I think it will ultimately come from Myrra...

Chun

@Tyler Engelke @The Arcane Emperor I guess I should have been clearer since they’re currently in beyond, but I was referring to the tutorial floors, not beyond 😭 All hell difficulty attendees run out of time within the tutorial and I don’t think there’s ever been anyone who was actually able to clear it and return ahead of time like other difficulties, because the 13th floor is supposed to be crazy.

Thien T

Who could've seen it coming that Elian the creep would install a spycam on those glasses? See Nat, this is why you should've used a VPN. Secure your privacy now and change your IP address through thousands of servers across the System to protect your data. This comment is brought to you by Nor-

Terri Harris

Wow. Wicked cool! Best chapter ever! Thats such a fantastic trade! No wonder Kindness talked about Nat "letting it in and becoming a monster". So much fun information. And Nats group being on the Xyphos floor of the tutorial I bet Nat learns stuff that will totally allow them to exploit it. Also it seems as if Nat is learning all kinds of stuff Diligence and the System would object to, so cool already, with lots more to come. I sense Biscuits triumphant return! Yay! Tftc!

Ivan Jelenić

"The sword starts talking to Myrra in a polite voice, calling himself an evil-slaying sword." Nightblood :3

Ivan Jelenić

Oh, I just realized. Sav-ant! :O

vEnviouz

Cerim out here liking comments because that's exactly how it's gonna go down 😂😅😭

William Johnson

Ooh we getting a lore dump! Cockroachsandra is such a softie, next thing she's going to be getting a System's Best Mentor mug.

tyhuko

Christoph only did it because 13th tutorial Floor was on Easy difficulty, he couldn't do much more than 6th Floor of Beyond so he was likely fresh-normal champ level.

Arnon Parenti

The Magi is a The Absolute fan, so he is probably thinking rude thoughts of how he could survive her visit if he does naughty things to Nate

tyhuko

Time to hit Dilgence with "I'm gonna clear that 5th Floor of Beyond over and over until the System runs out of Champions to reanimate" post training arc.

Nemesis

Nice one! Do you reckon Brich may have really changed his name, instead of changing his leader board alias? 😂

YaBoiiSloth

Redactthaniel is about to do a number on tomorrows chapter

Kirin

Thank you for the chappie!

Nemesis

You're assuming the 13th floor is a fight. It could be some kind of puzzle, or something that requires extremely high level skills to pull off in a short timeframe

Yami

Divine star. Nice

Nemesis

This fragment seems to be a bit different

Nemesis

If it turns out that both of the only 2 disciples she ever took on became absolute monsters then she kinda does, whether the System wants to give it to her or not

Ivan Jelenić

All the other boys are basically LissLiss' mini-minions now.

Yami

It being a fragment makes it a lot more boring than before. Fragments also sound more limited than any other ability

Nemesis

So, who wants to submit their guesses for what Mana Physique will evolve to? I am thinking it could be something like [Mana Constitution] or [Mana Entity]

Nemesis

Those were supposed to be his reward! Now The Magi owes him some training. He will have to sic LissLiss on him!

Schmidt

Need it to consume his constitution stat entirely

zoarian

I like [Mana Being] - similar to [Mana Entity].

Nemesis

They are her grandminions by the inherent property of minion transference, according to Nat, and that one guy who invented it in the comments and got it pinched by Cerim 🤣

lunatic

I think its basically impossible not to. A while back he defeated the champion with a little help before ichor i think. Now he has another trait, a bunch of trait upgrades, a new passive, amd one year of training with liss. I think he could practically take on all the champions of the 5th at once.

Nate 3000

Oh man, I like both of these. It could also move to [Empyrean Physique] to continue his transformation

Little Watchmaker

Awesome, this is the perfect point to left some chapters build up! i cant wait to see what Nat becomes after this!

Nemesis

Hmm, I just thought of something. Since when can you show your status to someone else? I can't recall it coming up before

Sammot

Well that champion he completely countered by having black mana. If they had anytjing else except only mana nat would have easily died to him. Dont think its as easy of a feat as you think, think it will still be a very uphill battle for nat but he can do it i think

Andrew

Thank you!

Chun

@ForwardArrow Also in book 2 chapter 63 when she was still a brooch and talking to hadwin: “But that’s only when it comes to talent. The little pup…Nathaniel… Sometimes he terrifies me. The look in his eyes, the hunger and willingness to push himself to the brink of death. The absolute confidence he has in himself. He will either die young or reach places we thought were impossible… But it also inspires me. I long forgot how it feels to put your life on the line and push to the point of breaking apart. I want it. I want to do the same.”

frankie doerr

Not happening she promised to protect Myrra with her life and I think that will stay as long as Nat is interesting

frankie doerr

Nah the system was made by a weak god but he used an invader and such to turn it to the system black mana I think is from the dragon god since the wyvern seemed so sad and in every story dragons are masters of magic

Sean

Oooh Nat's about to learn about the multiverse!

Al

This would thematically fit with his empyrean blood forcing the evolution, too

Lance Beam

The transitive property of minions.

Kevin

Given it will be upgrading due to empyrean ichor, I think we might get empyrean Physique.

Kenny

How can you stop now?!?!

Lance Beam

That was a superb story arc.

mulchymulcher

The labyrinth of xyphos is also the setting of the 11th floor. I.e. g4 is going to have to fight themselves.

Kevin

Do we know Savant’s actual name?

Lance Beam

TFTC. The training montage with Liss will mean Nat can beat Morwag after he leveled up. I can hardly wait.

Kevin

Lissandra said it was one of the weakest gods, so maybe not the dragon god.

Josh Betts

A year of training with liss is insane he will be the strongest tutorial attendant since pride and did she just threaten ( promise) the magi for trying to steal her disciple . It prison break time lol she gonna steal a mana heart from herself.

Kevin

IIRC, Nyssa said she could clear the 13th floor if she really wanted to, but she would rather spend the time required in beyond.

Jayden Shannon

Holy damn PLEASE JUST TAKE MORE OF MYMONRY AHHHHHHHH.

Predyca

[Empyrean Gestalt] Since I can see Nat giving up his whole body to turn himself into partial Mana, or replace Water with Mana

Primo

I had the same Idea mana being as trait and mana maniac as primary class once he reaches 450 will fit like a glove

Primo

Nope

Pål Drageset

Biscuit! "The Destroyer of systems! The consumer of deer jerky!"

John

Ever since he came back to Liss, im hyped but now im super hyped!! keep these chapüters rolling man, its crazy how these books always get and stay exciting!!

NatXLily

i hope so... we will miss lily and ruby

Gardor

"A god of the very thing the current system mana is based upon" -> think this should just be "system is based on", maybe "system is based on, mana." Mostly cuz i dont know what "system mana" is.

NatXLily

3.... myrra is a disciple as she stated

SqrlyGrly

Who's gonna tell him?

Hardworking Guy

Mirec? Is that his actual name or just a wordplay?

Melih

Cerim is Mirec's evil twin, legend has it that he keeps Mirec locked up in his basement and forces him to write this masterpiece

Jordan Jones

This is a shrug to me. I can’t either, but I’m pretty sure Rulers and Absolutes are system darlings with access and privileges almost no one, even Champions, ever see. And…it’s Lissandra. The Absolute.

Marwolaeth

I was very confused who meric was at first tbh but then my dyslexia activated and I read it as cerim and I was confused until it made sense

Marwolaeth

Actually liss seems to enjoy that he calls it "black mana" and see always calls it by it's true name of black mana

Melih

1-Sovereign Corpus 2-Aetherial Shell 3-Transcendent Vessel

Marwolaeth

The mana belonging to/originating from the system- system is "owning" mana in that sentence structure

Little Watchmaker

Its an addiction 😭 i guess i could continue with primal hunter for a bit lol. (But it's not as good)

Cody

Definitely hyped for this training arc myself lol but I don’t believe it was ever stated that Pride was an attendant of the tutorial?

Frank

The fact that he liked this comment says a lot😂

KiJo

Its the Beyond's rank mark or whatever it was called. Nat got himself one when he first entered beyond, that same thing allows everyone to see your rank and parts of your status should you wish to show them. It was how Chris and Morwag showed Nat their levels

ForgottenDreams

BROUGHT TO YOU BY NORAD 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

Hardworking Guy

Man, Cerim, keep this up and I might have a wet dream of Lissandra stepping on my chest and crushing my rib cage while calling me a bug. Careful there!

Gardor

Right, and is system mana different from mana? Was he the god of mana, or the god of system mana's precursor energy? Which, again, is different from mana, and also apparently different than system mana?

Nemesis

Maybe he WAS, but after getting confirmation that Elian was listening into everything (after hearing Elian was one of the people best placed to assist from Ruby) through the glasses he now believe Elian is his solution. I wouldn't be surprised if Nat sees an incoming deal (maybe a Beyond quest) in the near future. 'You receive a solution for your friends problem, I receive you acting as my labrat for X time'

Bandit General

This is your final and only warning Mr. Hardworking Guy… as the self proclaimed police I do not support dreams like that in public spaces. You have been warned

J W

Too late, been there got my t-shirt

Hardworking Guy

I believe that this being about Lissandra gives me a pardon, Mr Police.

Bandit General

You have been pardon. Just know you are on my radar

Youkai-sama

Holy fuckin shitballs, Batman.

Reign

I suspect System's (the method/tool this foreign "parasite" is using to spread across our universe) mana is a diluted/weakened form of what this god utilized, with black mana either being closer in nature to the original, or just the original flat out. The System likely would've needed some basis of power/energy (perhaps other forms of power from other universes are as effective in ours?) and it utilized that of this god. But obviously you can't just give everyone black mana and expect them to be able to handle it (and therefore spread it like we see with Nat on Earth), so it modified it to not kill anything too weak to handle it.

Nemesis

I wasn't expecting to get the rich and deep Mirec lore today 😂

Matthew Statz

I don't think that's how it's going to play out. I might be totally wrong but I think we're wrapping up book 10, and this condensed year of training with the cockroach is going to be book 11, or a solid chunk of it. I'm expecting it's going to be a LOT more than a montage.

XP_TOPshelf

There is a reason she’s willing to spend so much time training Nat. As she said, she would turn away absolutes of her era and is is willing to give him a year of dedicated training.

Thien T

There was no 'mana' before the System. The advent of the System introduced mana to the universe in the first place.

Gardor

To our universe, perhaps. But demons can utilize primordial energy without the system, so i think claiming "there would be no mana without the system" is a bold stance. Also, the god was weak, thats what Liss just said. If he was the god of black mana, why would he be weak?

Tishane :Imperial MageKiller

Shout out to the the most Demon demon to ever demon 😈 my guy took three steps towards what is on a lv the second ultimate boss next to pride.

Nemesis

I just realised, that copy of prime Liss in the labyrinth will be granny Liss. It will be grandma copy Liss fighting duplicate young Liss

frozzi

Idk about the books, but there is no way its gonna take "solid chunk" and not be a 2-3 chapter timeskip. Training its basically boring repetitive stuff, no way we gonna read for 40 chapters how Nat tries to shape mana and fails

Ivan Jelenić

Maybe Brich became Diligence's avatar in exchange for something, and had to change his name.

KD Lo

Can you remind me what the labrynth is?

Unmasked

I got to hand it to MorMor..dude met a unrestricted being who is stronger that some Rulers and just decied casually to face her until he dropped flat...

ZekTak

There was an event in the second tournament with the labyrinth, it makes copies of whoever is inside, guessing Lyss wants to go to the original one in the real world

nick gibbons

I hope liss helps the others too mainly savant. feels like he's falling too far behind. he's supposed to be nats rival

wolf Bound

Interesting lore drop and training arc 🙂‍↕️ we are up rn

Alex

*opening the chapter* "Myrra" *Neuron activation* I completely forgot about her 😭

JWS_ TEX

I am missing the reason why this was reposted. Am I just a noob?
