[Selective Adaptation]. That is the name of my new skill. I want to give it a bit more thought, but a small movement on the edge of my vision catches my attention, and I see a few people sitting under a tree, with a huge lizard resting behind them.

Ignoring them, I look up, following the sensation of someone touching my head. Lissandra stands there in her younger form, as if waiting for me to meet her eyes.

Slightly annoyed, I frown and circulate my mana to activate my skill. Following the lingering connection and the structure of the inscriptions drawn over my head, I remanifest back inside my mental space.

At first, there is nothing surrounding me, just that neverending white space. Then slowly, as if hesitating, the training environment I was in before I was thrown outside begins to form.

Three beings appear, the ones Lissandra called street rats of Eladore, though I am confident she has to be exaggerating. There is just no way a street rat would be powerful enough to clear the floor with a fresh S rank.

These three rats notice my appearance and turn to me, their eyes glinting. They reach up to my waist and are slimmer than a usual rat, but with longer legs.

Their natural barriers strengthen as mana circulates through their bodies in a mana-based body strengthening technique. They move at a speed that makes it seem like they are teleporting, biting with a force that I am confident would damage even Lily.

My body moves, utilizing the same technique and speed. Since my mana reserves are unhindered and fully available, I throw everything I can into my movement.

When one of them bites off my arm, I just chuckle. I kick another one, slam my forehead against the one going for my neck, and grab the tail of the third to spin and throw it away.

Rather than trying to match their movement, I focus on observing mana wavelengths to predict their actions, as each of them is faster than I am.

My objective is to defeat all of them, and then it is onto the next exercise.

POV Myrra

Savant is no fun, he is too measured and cold, but not in a fun way like the feral one. Weslin is interesting, friendly, and direct, though he lacks that intensity. Morwag is fun. I want to fight Morwag, and I can tell he wants to fight me, but neither of us tries anything, as a single pulse of mana from Lady Lissandra stops us.

Like the good Lynthari I am, I sit there and look at her as she turns my way. It has already been an hour since she and Nathaniel started, and the entire time she has kept her hand on his head. But unlike him, she seems to be able to perceive what is happening around her.

It is like she would ignite in flames that would burn the very structure of reality itself if she lost control even for a second.

Morwag passes by me to head towards Lissandra, just tapping my shoulder in a way that makes me want to attack him immediately. He isn't even smiling or directly challenging me. So is he even a demon? The feral one feels more like a proper demon. What an annoying guy.

My attention switches to Brichant, from whom I have been pulling information most of the time.

“So the 11th floor is a desert? My planet used to have one as well, though you had to be very careful because of the body of the fallen. But at least there were no ants!” I say to him.

“I would say it’s probably hotter than the desert you were used to.”

“That sounds nice! I like heat,” I sigh. “Nothing against the Wywy, but this floor is damn boring.”

As I say that, of course, the wyvern doesn't even react. It just lazily lies there, its head and eye turned towards Lissandra and Nathaniel. I think it is waiting for Lissandra to show weakness so it can kill her.

Then I slam the sword Brichant lent me against the ground. “And why is it not talking anymore?”

“Maybe it is scared?” Brichant asks.

“It is,” Lissandra says. “Centuries ago, it was likely used to slay a wyvern or two, I can still sense the blood upon the metal. It must be wary about what this one will do.”

The huge, one-winged wyvern doesn't even bother turning or looking at the sword, it just lazily says something in that terrifying language only Lissandra understands.

Without taking her hand off Nathaniel’s head, she snorts and doesn't respond. Instead, she talks to me. “The sword houses the majority of its creator's power, but that power remains nearly inaccessible without him. Little kitten, I know you would bother me to no end, so I will explain a little. It was done to purify the creator's bloodline by sequestering his excess power into an ego weapon, creating a symbiotic resonance between them. Honestly, the mechanics are somewhat impressive.”

“Thank you, Lady Lissandra!” I call out to her, knowing how much effort it must have taken. She is quite grumbly when something interrupts what she is doing. I quickly poke Brichant. “Go on, praise her too!”

The lumoran just laughs nervously, and after looking at Lissandra, the coward stays quiet. I bet Nathaniel would say something.

“How is he doing, Lady Lissandra?” I ask her.

“Decently.”

“Oh, that good?”

“I said decently, little kitten.”

“Sure! How much time has passed? Longer than you expected, right?” I can tell I am smiling now, and that smile widens as she looks at me.

“That amounts to nothing if he breaks his mind.”

“Then cut it short. Just tell him you got bored.”

“Little kitten, you are exceedingly annoying today.”

I know when it is better not to push, so instead, I talk with Nathaniel’s friends a bit more for a while, until it finally seems to be over.

Nathaniel opens his eyes for a few seconds before looking up at Lissandra and closing them again.

That woman, who packs such terrifying power in a body that is so small in comparison, opens her mouth but in the end says nothing. I don't know if it is just the play of the light, but she seems to smile.

Since then, I don't take my eyes off Nathaniel, off the contours of his face, the scars I can see on his body, and the one going from his cheek through his neck. He sits there motionlessly, not even twitching.

He hasn't changed at all, has he? Truly, the name I gave him fits him the best. I really like that feral effort he can throw himself into with anything.

Only later does he open his eyes again, and this time it seems to be truly over, as Lissandra takes her hand from his head and takes a step away.

He stands up, swaying slightly before the way mana moves around him changes and he regains his balance. He looks around, passing his gaze over me and the others, and then looks at Lissandra as if waiting for something.

“I said it is over,” she says.

Nathaniel tilts his head as if not understanding, looking at her, still waiting for something.

Lissandra moves almost uncharacteristically kindly and takes his hand, slowly leading him towards a boulder nearby, where she forces him to sit.

"Take your time," she says to him after that. She then does something to erase the inscriptions from his head before taking a step away to sit nearby.

He watches her curiously, and then his eyes turn to me for a moment. I smile brightly and wave. That causes his eyes to widen, but then he waves back and chuckles. He looks at the fake sky of this floor of the First Dungeon and takes a breath.

Then, his mana begins to move differently. He begins to radiate much more of it, reaching toward the ambient mana as well, pulling it toward him like a whirlpool. In a small area around him, everything becomes black and white as an even darker black orb forms over his hand. He watches it with eyes that manage to keep their color.

The sheer intensity of his gaze makes it difficult to take my eyes off him, and after a moment, I even feel a pull on my own mana. At first I resist, but the pull keeps getting stronger and stronger. In waves, all the mana starts getting pulled toward him and that orb, which doesn't even expand in size.

Even Lady Lissandra releases a terrifying amount of mana, a part of which she got from the crown of that dickhead lumoran, Envy, and then throws the black dagger she has carried until now toward it.

Nathaniel continues to gather and shape that mana, turning it into the shape of a black dagger not dissimilar from the previous one. Though that seems to dissatisfy Lady Lissandra as she watches the... somewhat... original shape and look. She pokes it with her finger, changing the shape a little to be more pleasing. The blade stays short and thick, but the guard and handle change a bit to become more elegant.

That continues for hours, to the point where Lissandra has to start helping him, and even the wyvern pays more attention. It even allows some of its own mana to be absorbed.

It is also fun to watch the expressions of that demon, half demon, lumoran, and human.

POV Nathaniel

It feels like yet another exercise, though this one is real. I have a difficult time getting used to the fact that if something damages me here, I won't just remanifest, which is a bit inconvenient. Though that also means a higher spike in difficulty.

Yet, it is still possible this is another tricky training. Maybe I should really try and... okay, I probably shouldn't. The notifications I'm getting confirm this is real.

[Focus - lvl 80 > Focus - lvl 81]

[Focus - lvl 81 > Focus - lvl 82]

[Focus - lvl 82 > Focus - lvl 83]

Though most of what I did was mostly an experience, and I now have to teach my body to adapt to it, I am finding ways to improve how I have been using skills. Even during all that training, there were ways I found I could improve them, so now, as I gather all that mana, I do it with that intent in mind.

Mind... I think I spent the last few days in there just gathering myself back together. Or maybe it took a bit longer than that? Well, I did it in the end, and that's all that matters. For now, I don't want to think about it. I want to forget about it for now and muse over it later. It wasn't a great feeling.

I can’t seem to stay still. I’m getting used to the downtime, but it still feels unnatural not to be training. To fill the void, I’ve start gathering black mana for Lissandra, even though I still feel empty and so mentally exhausted.

I feel like I need to have a conversation to distract myself, so I look at Lissandra. "Can you talk about something? Anything." As I say that, I hate how weak my voice sounds.

"Very well, let me tell you about one of my gardener's ideas and how she tried to grow mana-dense fruits. It was an interesting idea, but the taste..." She then begins to talk, and I listen to it.

The longer I continue to gather mana, the more I feel like myself. It might have been a bit intentional, but we didn't train anything based on mana channeling, which is something I'm best at. So doing it now feels like it's all returning to me. Though, as I glance at Myrra, I almost feel like I haven't seen her for years.

Allowing myself to listen, I concentrate further, especially as that ridiculous amount of mana starts flowing from the wyvern as well. If not for Lissandra, I don't think I would have a chance to compress my mana or gather that much of it, and she is also helping me to stabilize it.

But I'm not selling myself short. I know neither Liss nor the one-winged wyvern would be able to do it without me and my access to black mana.

[Mana Manipulation - lvl 81 > Mana Manipulation - lvl 82]

[Mana Manipulation - lvl 82 > Mana Manipulation - lvl 83]

[Redistribution - lvl 80 > Redistribution - lvl 81]

And I know these notifications are just the start. These are the immediate changes that start showing themselves after this training, with more and more coming as I get my body and brain used to them, just as I forced my subconsciousness to do.

It is ridiculous.

As is the amount of mana compressed in front of me in the shape of a black dagger. Even now, it's difficult to see a fragment of a god in it, a piece of the corpse that appears if you compress hard enough.

I watch as Lissandra grabs that dagger and makes a few final changes before letting her hand rest along her body with it. "That much will suffice," she says, gesturing for Myrra to come closer.

It seems they have talked about it previously, as the lynthari smiles at her while Lissandra says, "The time we spent together has been terrible, little kitten. Your short attention span, your inability to control yourself, and many other flaws that would take too much time to name. Yet, I wish you the best of luck, and may we meet in the future."

To that, Myrra just smiles. As a lynthari, she is three or so heads taller than Lissandra, so she gets on her knees to make it so they are almost at a similar height. Even with the difference in size, not for a moment does it make a person uncertain who is the more powerful one here.

I watch as Myrra gently takes Lissandra's hand, lifts it up toward her lips, and kisses the back of it. "Thank you, Master Lissandra. Thank you for everything. Truly." Myrra says in a tone that sounds almost uncharacteristic of her usually cheery self.

Lissandra moves her hand and puts it on top of Myrra’s head to caress it as she says, "Stay diligent, my disciple."

"Yes, Master." Myrra nods eagerly, her fangs showing in a smile.

Then Lissandra turns to me. "What I will be doing is too dangerous for the little kitten. I had hoped to expel her into your group, and it is possible it will still happen. At worst, she will find herself in some other group of your planet. Some parts of the tutorial are so shoddy made I can't even predict what floor she will find herself on. It could be the 1st, it could be the 13th. I just know it won't be Beyond."

As she talks, she is pointing with the dagger in the air, drawing black inscriptions there. All the ambient mana that remains in the air gets pulled to her, and she pulls even more from a much, much further distance. It rushes in so quickly it feels almost physical, as if everything is about to break, but it barely crashes against the wall she sets up.

"As for you and your baggage over there, I will use the remains of the teleportation I interrupted to send you where you were heading... What do you want?" Her eyes switch to Morwag, who stops standing nearby.

"One day I will challenge you," the demon declares, causing even the wyvern to tilt its head.

Lissandra doesn't laugh at him or put him down. Instead, she answers simply, "Challenge me with the respect such a duel requires, and I will pay it back."

I don’t even talk to her anymore, we said everything we wanted to during my training. I probably talked about things in my weaker moments that I feel ashamed of now, but I get the sense she won’t tell anyone, so it’s somehow okay.

We also talked about Biscuit, and as per our deal, she confirmed she’ll check up on him and help if needed. I think it insulted her that I even asked for confirmation, like I was questioning her word.

But as she looks at me, I just nod, and she nods back in quiet understanding.

"Someone overly diligent is trying to interfere with my effort, but I sense no intention of it being harmful toward you, so I will let it be. Just be aware of it," Lissandra says.

Having finished drawing the inscriptions, she then swings the dagger. All that gathered mana explodes, and a feeling like an explosion throwing me away encompasses me.

And as expected, the first thing I see when I look up from the ground is the black mandibles of a huge black ant.

Even though I’m not in my usual mood and my mind feels off, I force myself to say, "I want a six active skills combination tok-" but I don't get to finish as the Ruler of Diligence snaps those mandibles, and I notice Ruby behind him with a difficult to read expression on her face.

TFTC! I'm sure Nat will ask for Myrra to join his group and for some other ridiculous stuff. It will be denied, then he'll clear out Champs at floor 5 and 5 skill combo token will finally be here.

Aldric

At this point Nat is probably already at Champion level without the attribut upgrade

Konrad Pagacz

Those were some fat level ups. Is the reason Lissandra did not make Nat channel is because there's not much she can teach him in that department or is it because she does not want to influence his path in that context or is it because she was focusing on his weaknesses. And Selective Adaptation? I am a little disappointed by the name, but I am open to be surprised by it :)

DaWykitat

He should have started at 3 6-skill combination tokens so he could get humbled into accepting 1.

cpt jimmy

How many times has Nat been punched outside of combat, just because it's him? Even I won't blame the Ant at this point.

inesta

Tftc Grammar suggestion...shoddy made -> shoddily made At least for British English, although I think it should also be correct for American English

Sushitrash

Come on just given him his 10 active skill combination token already...

Matt

When Nathaniel starts asking for a 10 active skill combination token all of a sudden a 5 active skill combination token isn't so unreasonable a request

frankie doerr

Man cerim youre starting to make me feel bad for diligence he seems like the one office worker that just wants to do his job and go home while shit just keeps piling up on his desk please redeem yourself in the next chapter

JJB4345_80_815

Never change, Nathaniel. Never change! 😂

frankie doerr

I don’t think the system will willingly let another kindness level ability

I Is Patron

Makes me wonder which Ruler will keep the tutorial together when he leaves after his shift ends

Morgs

Tftc!! Little error here: “To fill the void, I’ve start gathering black mana for Lissandra, even though I still feel empty and so mentally exhausted.” Think it should be “started gathering.” Loving the power ups and can’t wait to see what cockroach does next!!

Melih

I'm a sucker for [Adaptation] type skills. Someone surviving specific hardships and coming out stronger each time, having that theme crystallized into an active skill? Very few things are cooler than that

Primo

Did liss called the blood sword mechanism impressive? Think it's first time she is praising something, adrian better not let the sword get back to his master, plot within plot I see you Cerim 👀

Cam

Can’t wait for the 7 active skills token

Zlef

I figured it was more for grounding himself. That didn't change in the years he spent training in his head so helped him pull himself together

Arsenii

Curious how much Rulers were able to see floor 11 and whether they know about time-dilation training of Nat or not. I expect some troubles from Diligence when she finds out about extra couple of years Nat spent technically during tutorial. Also interesting how does selective adaptation compare with adaptive resistance or whatever last passive skill was called.

Subliminary

How many years left till he has to go fight Fraudrian? Like a year and a half right?

Psyren1596

Damn, I love this fic

Konrad Pagacz

He did want to get something like that though, right? He picked an adaptive defence passive to figure it out and copy its mechanisms with his skill, so this active skill will go towards it. It fits into his build plan.

Nemesis

This skill makes me think Nat may just ditch the adaptation passive. He himself said he prefers active skills in most cases

Nemesis

Just remember, one can be a hard and diligent worker, AND an evil schemer!

Nemesis

At some point such skill combination tokens would be nothing but a downside. Either the results would be too powerful to bare, or the odds of getting something good from that many different skills would be too low

Nemesis

So this means Myrra is still considered an Earth native! Earth is going to get its first cat girl in < 2 years

Gary Becker

She also called the veil impressive so she has complimented things in the past

Thien T

I love how ever since the beginning, every encounter between Nat and Roachsandra was about him proving her assessment of him wrong and exceeding her expectations. Liss: "The limit of what you could ever hope to achieve is Champion." Nat: "Who decided that?" Liss: "A year of thought acceleration is the limit of what you can handle and you won't be able to level your stats or obtain skills from it" Nat: "Who decided that?" Inb4 "There is no such thing as a six active skill combination tok-" "Who decided that?"

Kid

you give gordon ramsey a run for his money the way your cooking this up bro Sunday is way too far away now

Tyler Engelke

Well, you can be impressed when you see a bunch of ants carry 50x their body weight. Doesn't mean it's difficult for you to carry the weight the ants can even more easily.

Tyler Engelke

That's not how kindness got her ability

Tyler Engelke

It's been all but implied that skill is much more important than raw stats in this story. Even if someone has 5x the mana, Nat would just take control of the mana and kill them with it unless they were skilled enough. This is exactly how Nat got the 6th floor token when he fought the mana specialist champion.

RJ Barnes

From my perspective she knows he can do more and knows who he is, and the fundamentals of his class Pride. She wouldn’t give Nat the attention if she believed that

Spooky eggz

Mommy Sandra fans eating good today

John

What a great chapter, much love and thanks🔥

Primo

Dear Savant, one of my fav characters and Nat past rival after seeing what Nat is achieving you have to step up, you got your sword of aeons to prob peak pristine wich was your tutorial endgame goal thanks to Liss, you are still on the 9th floor with a bunch of champions & prob absolutes bodies lying around and I doubt there could be a better floor setup for you with such opportunities, it's time to cook and absorb it all, just make sure not to wake up the Monster Lycan sleeping down bellow 👀

John

Hmm, i love how there are probably a lot of (secrit) ineractions towards the end of training between liss and nat. As we didnt have the proper POV, so a lot of info/training and exchange can be hidden, maybe even a years of it🙄

Ryan Whitney

At this point it feels like a six active skill combination token really doesn't exist but diligence doesn't want him to know lol

J W

It just has to be Thursday

Ivan Jelenić

Hahaha, the internet will go wild, and Japan will worship her. It would be so funny if she became Absolute.

Ivan Jelenić

Didn't someone have [Adapt], or it was mentioned as an example? So this would be a more focused version of that.

KDR

Excited to see how selective adaptation works! Between this and the epic passive, seems like he may unlock pristine versions sooner than expected. Curious how they’ll both alter his body with his low constitution. Honestly I would love more insight and details into how that in general as I feel like, other than the body upgrade, it has only really been talked about in a general manner. I would imagine there are more effects than just faster skill growth and alignment with his mana use? But maybe I am overthinking it

Seijax

That, plus Nat has more Mana than Mana-focused Champions, can regenerate it endlessly through conversion, and outrank their Mana "tier" with the Black variant. His only counter would be someone like a Jean-like Champion

Ivan Jelenić

She's providing motivation. Like when you tell kids they can't or must not do something, they try to do it.

Ivan Jelenić

Maybe even Nat doesn't know. Sneakythaniel. But he did say he collected himself, so probably not.

Ralph

The fact that his new skill hasn't levelled up speaks highly of it's rarity. I think it makes the active skill combination tokens more valuable too... He's found the meta strat of always keeping one slot open for special occasions 😁 I can also see Morwag learning ancient dueling etiquette and JoJo posing in every fight from now on

Kevin

They certainly know what happened. They might not know what was said in the time dilated meeting, but then again someone like Kyrallon might have been able to see everything said, spoken, and done in there. Lissandra deliberately said that was a possibility.

DANDAN THE DANDAN

With Nat's build capable of pulling in ambient mana, a mana attribute upgrade won't really do much beyond strengthen his Ichor (and Physique along with it). He's totally nearing Champ-level strength

Kevin

Yes, “I’ve” is a contraction of “I have” which is the past tense, so it should be “started” and not “start”. Alternatively you could change it to “I’ll start gathering mana” so that it’s all in the present tense.

Nate Zucker

TYFC!!!!!! I am so happy they started again. I was FIENDIN!

granndfunk

Really thought Liss was sacrificing/leaving Myrra behind for a second there

Kevin

I don’t think he’s ever been punched just because it’s him. Oh everyone wants to do it the moment they see his face. He has a really punchable face, but I don’t think anyone’s dumb enough to actually do it.

Marwolaeth

☝️🤓 Uhm Aktchewally Lol, pretty sure when she tried to end herself her skills were all absorbed by her level 99 immortality

Andrew

Thank you!

Apeiron

Maybe he shouldn’t have destroyed the armory then!

Apeiron

My head cannon is that eventually Nat combines all of his skills down to one that will ultimately just be called “Mana” there has been a few callouts to similar type skills like “Weapon.” Pair that with the fact that Nat is focusing so much time on how his active skills impact his body and all of his stats are Mana it feels like a realistic possibility.

Yozora

Can't wait for his [Counting] skill to appear

Marshall

If powerful ego items can purify bloodlines, could the item Nat is having made be for Nyssa?

blaw

Don't the current Rulers not already have a built in destruction timer when the System forces them to try to take down Pride?

Boyo

Is it crazy that I think that Diligence secretly like Nat?

Nemesis

I dunno, I think Nat is one of the few who genuinely exasperate him

Nemesis

So they are probably going to land right in front of Nyssa after this chat, aren't they?

Nemesis

I'm not sure. I think it may have been an example Liss gave?

Nemesis

Lol! The idea that one time Nat just gets out a can of Raid and starts spraying Diligence!

Thariaus

I am lost, Why diligence whould accepte a trade, Nat have nothing to give to the rulers want?

I Is Patron

Compensation!!! Our poor attendees were kidnapped by a rogue absolute. Forced to do unmentionable things in order regain their freedom. If only the Rulers were handling matters appropriately none of this would have happened. Shame on them.

Abhishek

What a start to the book. Brilliant!

xlejdez.

Diligence probably wants to reset their place in the exploration rankings. I can't imagine he would let it stay at 12th floor reached for the boys.

Xion

I've always figured all of the low constitution and high mana stuff is gonna lead to some form of organic mana body transformation.

Luis Guerrero

As a certified Savant hater I hope he crashes and burns but seriously can someone explain to me why the fuck liss liss would upgrade the sword seemingly for free that makes me like Savant less than I already do

J. Suber

Imo this week's chapters would have made a great ending for book 10. But I have to agree, it was a great week

frozzi

Liss bitch slapped him twice, does it count as punch?

J W

That's why its bad for nat right now. He still hasn't regained his senses so he wont be able to con diligence out of as much as previously

Gutz

Sunday seems very far now!

Budgie

I like this chapter alot, besides the hinted at years? of acceleration and conversations but I am sure they will be nice additions to the story later on. Looking forward to the drama Nat will cause and I feel sorry for whoever getts blamed for the next anti mana zone.

Thien T

“There are, and always will be, disadvantages to thought acceleration. Your status will not update, your muscle memory and mind will not adapt fully to your training, and you will not ingrain these gained instincts into your physical form." Said Lissandra So naturally, Nat went and brute forced himself into gaining [Selective Adaptation] to do exactly that.

Kevin

Obviously anything bad that happens during the ensuing clash is Dilegence’s fault.

Kevin

I doubt Nat would make something for Nyssa. Like, why?

Kevin

I don’t think the system can/will force them to take down pride. It can certainly give out quests and rewards to do it, but I doubt it will kill them if they leave pride alone.

Kevin

It is confirmed all of her healing related abilities were absorbed into immortality and that she can no longer use healing on others. I find it doubtful that all 10 of her skills combined.

Chun

You’re totally right. I never really thought about it that way because well, we follow Nat, the MAIN CHARACTER. So every time diligence shows up it looks like he’s a party pooper. But if you look at it from Diligence’s perspective (while he could still be super evil or something since everyone has their own motives) he’s only tried to balance/fix the shit that Nat does and to abide by the rules of the tutorial/system. And all he gets in return is being branded the scapegoat to Nat’s antics, all the while another ruler in charge of this cycle of the tutorial like he is (Ruby) is openly supporting Nat and his actions all the while opposing Diligence’s decisions. If we look at all the rulers so far we’ve actually seen so far, he seems the most sensible and normal one. Greed/Ruby is obsessed with raising weapons (potential attendees) to kill Pride. Kindness just wants to die so she and Ruby somewhat aligns. Envy is a just an asshole. Lust sucks because she wants Biscuit. And even though we haven’t actually met Wrath he’s still one of the other rulers in charge of this tutorials cycle as well, and from what I remember about his votes, he just seems to choose the side in the vote that will cause the most chaos or something. While Diligence just wants to be… diligent and do his job as one of the rulers in charge of this cycle of the tutorial.

Chun

“And I know these notifications are just the start. These are the immediate changes that start showing themselves after this training, with more and more coming as I get my body and brain used to them, just as I forced my subconsciousness to do.” Level 80+ skills is what is considered the average or starting point for champions. Nat’s [Focus], [Mana Manipulation], and [Redistribution] are the skills Nat has that is 80+. My point is, if gaining levels in these 3 skills (THAT ARE ALREADY LEVEL 80+) is what he considers to be only the preliminary / immediate gains from the training, oh boy… Surely he can now finally challenge Nyssa no? We’re probably going to see them fight soon since we know Nyssa is looking for the boys and now they’re actually going to be teleported to the surface of beyond, and even if he cant curb stomp her, he should at least be able to match her I think?

Random

It be funny if myrra gets stuck with savant

im Panda

God I missed this story

Luis Guerrero

I guess just doesn't seem within character literally haven't seen her do anything for free it has to be earned I mean look at Nat that's her student/disciple and they had to make a deal oh well

Matthew Hay

Savant respects and holds dear Tristan, whom Liss held dear as one of her only descendants she liked. This is why he cherishes that sword, which is why she respects him by not destroying it but instead improving it for him. I think you're also overestimating the effort she put into improving it. Nothing indicates she took a significant toll to do so.

Primo

Was thinking the same they are both powerful enough to glide through hell difficulty but Myra will bring on chaos with her curiosity and truly testing savant patience trait, he might even unlock second stage 😅

Jimmer Quadro

Definitely. Dilly probably loves and respects Nat's drive to improve at all costs to himself but not anyone else he cares about. His diligence, if you will. But absolutely hates everything else about him like his greed and pettiness and general disregard for the rules.

rams

I think it is a love / hate kinda thing. Nat annoys him immensely with having to clean up his messes, but his diligence side has to respect the game. I think there is a distinct possibility that Nat is the single most diligent attendee in this 1000 year cycle.

Nemesis

I just had a thought, what if Myrra ends up in the early tutorial and has to go through floor 4. Just imagine her having to deal with herself

Nemesis

Another thing to think about, does what Lissandra said mean that if Nat reaches Absolute he can have up to stage 7 strengthening on his traits?

Nemesis

Why do I feel like Nat is about to earn that 90% stay reduction to his Beyond tokens that was mentioned before?

Arkenian

I mean he got the passive mostly to learn from it anyhow, didnt he?

Nate 3000

I want this to happen so badly. It will also be a convenient way to get more Savant in the story (through both Myrra and Savant POVs)

Nate 3000

After that training arc, he should be able to curb stomp her once he adjusts his body/mind to his experience. He just gained probably 10 years of experience via TOUGH training. I don't think any other normal attendee could hope to match that during the 5 years of the tutorial

Nemesis

A thought that occurred to me, if Myrra is going back into the tutorial, isn't she in danger of being caught by the System and being erased? Wasn't that the whole reason they went to Beyond?

Cam

Next time nat gets someone breaking into his head they’re gonna get a rude surprise of like 5 more nats

Kirin

Thank you for the chappie!

She said just last chapter that the limit to trait strengthening is up to the 5th stage, which enters Absolute territory. It is possible to reset the strengthening stages of a trait by evolving it and going through the process again but it can't go beyond 5th stage.

I guess my biggest question about the new skill is if it works both ways. Like, we know Nat will be able to adapt his body and mind with the experience from training. Can he adapt other things to himself rather than adapting himself to other things.. Can he use the skill to make one trait adapt to the other more than the other way around? Can he make black mana adapt more to him? The possibilities are endless

Nemesis

I was thinking maybe selective adaption could be a very powerful tool for controlling the evolution of his traits

I’m pretty sure that Nat has said Tacita is the attendee that he would struggle against, but I can’t remember which chapter it was.

Lance Beam

TFTC. I’d really like a chapter from Biscuit’s perspective to see how he’s getting on.

Tishane :Imperial MageKiller

Lmaoo did they just let her break out of the tutorial 💀 😂 im weak ....and they tried to nerf her from the beginning lmaoonshe is peakni know pride is strongest but she is the embodiment of hold my beer 🍺

UnevenCornet

Nat made her promise not to and her doing that would have made the sacrifice of her mana heart useless

John Smith

I think she has her own mana heart now, so she’s recognized as her own individual again. Not 100% certain of that

John Smith

While I don’t think the item Bat is having is for Nyssa, I think he would definitely make something for her to stop her from dying to her primordial energy just because he likes her (platonically, obv). But at the same time, he’d prob only make something like that if she asked him too, since he’d also respect her resolve to die in order to do what she wants

granndfunk

I think he secretly respects Nats treatment of Zant. I bet Digilence is more of a fatherly figure than he displays

Gabriël Rabaut

Nat's goal was to have a skill similar as the healer from Floor 4 (Leader of one of the Big Guilds). That healer adapted to Nat's attacks overtime

wolf Bound

What do you mean? You feel bad for the destroyer of the armory? The one who created a new no mana zone? And the cause of the first floor zombie things all dying?! Among other things.
