POV Kim Min-Jae

“Kevin, are you sure you know where we are going?” I ask as I barely catch up to him, breathless. It has already been what feels like days as we go through the labyrinth, avoiding traps, disassembling them, fighting monsters, or hiding from them.

“I guess,” he shrugs with a smile. “You don’t have to worry about that. I’m sure I can smell Maya nearby. Just a few days, maybe a week, and we will get to her!”

“There is no way you can smell Maya.”

Kevin smiles brightly and sniffs a few times, then points in one direction. “Ha! Then how do you explain this!?”

I look that way, and there is nothing there, just one of many hallways. Possibly with yet another Avatar of a long-dead person that visited the labyrinth before there was any civilization on Earth.

“If you don’t want to tell me, I will understand… I trust you, you know.”

“I know,” he smiles. “And Kim, I also know the Envy subclass doesn’t fit you.” He begins to walk, and I follow him, using my primordial energy to look for enemies and [Telekinesis] to hide the tremors of our steps.

“It does fit me,” I shake my head. “I… it just does.”

“Kim, my naive little bud, you damn Korean weirdo with weird-ass siblings and fucked-up parents, may they shit themselves in public. Oh, and with a sense of fashion only a single level better than Nathaniel, so basically trash.”

“Ehm. Okay?”

“Ehm. Okay,” he repeats mockingly. “I said it doesn’t fit you, and so it doesn’t. And you should listen to me, because I seem to have a sense for it.” He taps on his temple and then on his nose.

“Sure.”

“And don’t be so meek. Disagree. Fight me or something. Insult me like the good old times. You remember that one time when we fought, and you bit my shin? I think I was never as proud of you as that day.”

“Kevin...”

“Yup?”

“I think you are dead.”

“Am I?”

“I think Lily killed you.”

“Did she now?”

“I’m not sure… It all feels weird. This place. You. The light I saw when I came here. And you…”

He lifts his finger to stop me from asking, but continues to smile. “You have to watch your words. It is always listening, adapting, recording.” He waves his finger. “And we have to hurry. There is a human woman who, even long after her death, continues to cause trouble, and this place… well, I smell that very interesting things will happen. Whether good or terrible is yet to be decided.”

Kevin’s walk turns faster as he pushes between trees. From the leaves, droplets of water continue to fall as if it is dew, but none hit us as his [Reflection] constantly activates, deflecting them all.

My mind feels like it is torn. I want to clear it out, to find out what exactly is happening, but at the same time I… I don’t want this to stop.

As I gulp, I feel as if there is something stuck in my throat, and the words become blurry for a while. I’m so useless. I’m the worst. I’m weak.

I don’t even notice him stopping and crash against his back, almost falling as he takes a deep breath and turns around to face me.

“You, my friend,” he says, “need someone to trash you around a little bit. To steel your mind and to make you stop thinking of useless stuff and do what you want to do, not what you think you should do! You are still acting as if you are waiting for the approval of your parents and trying to fit in. I hoped Daron would whip you into shape. Nathaniel could work, but he is useless, he barely understands himself. Tess would rather let you suffer a bit longer so you will be stronger, and Izzy would coddle you. Maybe Maya? She has the potential to become a great muscle mommy just as I like, but she is way too lazy and not ambitious enough, even if that might change here.”

While shaking his head, he makes a sad face that is clearly there to make fun of me, as I can see the corner of his mouth constantly lifting upwards.

“I don’t need your help,” I say.

“Maybe, but you want it.”

“I…”

“Ha, not the answer you expected, right? Reflected straight back at you, you too-tall twerp! Let’s hurry then, through the mysterious Labyrinth of Xyphos!” His voice turns to a whisper as he looks around, as if checking to see if someone is listening before saying, “By the way, this is the real one, not a tutorial copy.”

He begins to rush under the trees, this time even reflecting the branches, and I don't even have time to think as I hurry to follow him.

POV Nathaniel

Melek smiles after yet another round of applause from the audience, and his band plays yet another cheerful jingle. Vic and I wait for them to calm down after a barrage of comments from the spectators, which he read out loud just to get a fun reaction out of us.

The place we are in this time is much bigger than before, but there are still circular tribunes, and we sit in the middle on a raised platform. I would estimate there are a few thousand people here, made up of a mix of many races.

“I personally still can't get over that unnamed noble house offering you a visit to their holiday moon, Mister Gwyn. I have to tell you,” he whispers, “that their daughters are well known for… well, liking people with interesting traits like yours. But onto another question. How are you still alive?”

I tilt my head in confusion, and Melek smiles while the audience laughs.

“We have been watching your stats during the first game and even went over some records, slowing them down to see if anyone poisoned you or otherwise damaged you! There was nothing of the sort, yet your vitals were constantly on the border of being kicked out.”

“Hell yeah!” someone from the audience shouts.

Melek smiles patiently. “I appreciate the comment, but our guards will still have to escort you out. You’ll also be fined in accordance with the contract you signed to be part of this live audience. But still… thank you.”

His eyes look anything but appreciative to me. Even as he smiles, I can see a coldness in his eyes as he tracks the man who shouted, being escorted out.

The audience claps as the prompt signs signal they should, and Melek turns back to me. “We even checked your Crescent Lifeline. But as expected of our premier sponsor, Crescent Smithies, whose products are all now available at your local distributor, it was totally undamaged.”

"How would I know that?"

Melek chuckles. "I guess. How would you know, Mister Gwyn," his charming-ass smile doesn't disappear at all despite my lackluster answer, "but why don't we watch some of the records my team has been able to acquire? I bet the audience will find them interesting!"

Both Vic and I wait, and as the recording starts playing, we watch it along with everyone else, even as some people in the audience gasp or make weird, sad noises.

"Nathaniel, can you describe what we are looking at?"

"Something that should constitute a breach of my privacy."

"It is great to see you and your sister keep such a brave face," Melek says before raising his voice toward the audience. "Unfortunately, we were unable to get any records from Earth, as you know, the system begins to record only once a planet begins its awakening and the non-attack phase and tutorial start. So, what you're seeing is the recording of the fourth floor, right when Mister Gwyn and his group lost their party member, a father figure to the younger members!”

Breathing becomes a bit more difficult as I watch Hadwin's face during that fight when the First One appeared.

There are many things I want to do right now, but I will give them no pleasure in seeing it. I don't even turn away. Instead, I watch the record in its entirety while Melek even pauses or zooms in on people's faces during certain parts.

He has that fake, sad smile that might seem charming to some as he repeatedly plays it in slow motion, zooming in on Hadwin's face for a long time.

When the record stops playing, and he dismisses it, Melek turns to me. "I'm so sorry, Mister Gwyn. It must have been terrible. Even those of us who didn't go through the tutorial have heard of its dangers and hold our own First Generations in great esteem."

"Thank you, I appreciate it," I answer, giving a small smile. "I hope I will be able to pay you back one day for your kindness."

Victoria and I wait in the dressing room while Selene and her team rush around, trying out new outfits on us for the next game.

There is also a new member on our team, a vyssari man standing on a chair so he can keep his eyes at the same level as ours while he talks to us. He has already been talking to us for hours and showing us many records of the previous Games as well as sharing some rumors and expectations of what the next game could be about.

"If you thought the first game was unfair, the second one is much worse," the vyssari, Rake, says. "913 people have passed this time, which is a historically quite large number, so they will try to quickly thin the crowd down. People who did well with the audiences or donations will be given plenty of opportunities, while they will try to quickly get rid of the less interesting ones. Melek likes to start working more seriously on his storylines during the second game, so be ready for that. If you two weren't so fucking weird, I would tell you to try and act a little, but I bet you wouldn't listen."

"I apologize for the inconvenience. I realize that me and Nathaniel are not exactly the ideal people for this," Victoria says.

"Concentration skill users tend to be like that, but sometimes the audience actually likes it. I have no fucking idea where Melek is going with his angle of giving Nathaniel a sad backstory and painting you as the powerful older sister, but nothing good ever comes out of that man's head."

"Shh, you three, watch! That asshole is talking again!" Selene shouts out of nowhere, moving aside so we can see the screen.

There Melek stands, this time wearing a black suit that sharply contrasts with his pink hair and skin tone. On the sleeves of the suit are faint white dots, likely mimicking his white freckles, and his tie is the exact green and blue color of his eyes.

The selari smiles charmingly, walking through the hallways where his steps echo loud and clear. "As before, this message is dedicated to our exquisite participants. The fearless men and women who dare to seek glory within the Game!"

His steps halt in front of a small metallic pillar draped in a black cloth, hiding whatever is resting on top of it. "This," Melek says, "is our grand prize. The most magnificent reward ever offered in the history of the Game, graciously bestowed by a sponsor who insists on remaining so delightfully anonymous. I have to tell you, if I had something like this, I wouldn't give it up. But the message we received stated it must be offered as a reward, so here it is."

He smiles charmingly. "I mean, we could probably keep it, couldn't we? Slide it into an auction, pocket the fortune, and use a mere fraction of it to put up a prize that would still beat everything we've done before. But this universe is full of mysterious people, powerful people, scary people, and the rule is simple—you just don't fuck with them. And we highly suspect our anonymous donor is one of those individuals."

With one smooth, clean movement, Melek pulls away the cloth to reveal a small crystal, causing a memory of my Fragment of the Nameless Tree to flash behind my eyes. Resting on the pillar is a small crystal of a velvet indigo color that seems to absorb the light. It doesn't even look like a crystal, its surface has a weird, impossible softness to it.

"This is the Fragment of Starless Sky," Melek announces with a reverence that doesn't even seem feigned this time. "It is a pure fragment, and not a recreation from the tutorial. One of the most powerful and well-known fragments in existence! A fragment of the Elysian Frame from a dead god! As many historians will tell you, there are not many fragments of this god left, meaning each one carries terrifying might."

The video zooms in on his face, and then cuts to a close-up of the fragment resting on the pillar.

"And this is what you are fighting for."

Next Chapter

Author Note:

As it was prophesied, my vacation is here. I thought about posting/unlocking one more chapter, but I will be traveling tomorrow. If something goes wrong or changes, having to deal with the chapter would just add useless stress to the trip. Yup, I never schedule Patreon chapters, I always edit them one last time just a few minutes before publishing.

Chapters will return on July 14th I think (don't forget that I work with the CEST timezone).

As promised, this break means I will not be taking a break when Book 11 concludes. If you got screwed up by the timing, just send me a message and I can issue a refund. I will check all the messages I have already received today or tomorrow, so don't worry. You were ignored, but not forgotten.

As for other refund requests, I likely will not check them during my vacation, but I will get to them once it is over.

Hmmm, what else?

As always, thanks for your support. It is greatly appreciated. Subscribe to Patreon only if you can afford it - I can survive even without it.

Please do not tease people who might want a refund. Even if you think it is "only" a few bucks, that amount can be worth much more in some countries, and you never know what people are going through.

You can join the Discord server too, and if you connect your patreon with discords, you will get access to patreon only channels: https://discord.gg/KXRB8C44SX

In case you are bored, I recommend a animated TV series called Pantheon. I liked it a lot. You might also check out anime like Evangelion or Code Geass. They are great, and Code Geass has one of my favorite endings.

As for reading, you could check out SSS-Class Suicide Hunter, Kidnapped Dragons, Trash of the Count's Family, The Second Coming of Gluttony, or The Tutorial Is Too Hard. They were all great inspirations to me, along with many others. For more popcorn-y webnovels, try Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society or Everyone Else is Returnee.

If you are more into games, check out Hades, Slay the Spire, Baldur's Gate 3, or Expedition 33. The Witcher 3 is great, and Metro Exodus has amazing atmosphere and immersion.

Well, enough rambling. Drink a lot of water, beware of the heat, stay safe, and see you soon!

Thank you for the chappie!

TFTC! Cant wait for Melek to find out who he fked with

I Is Patron

Oh Shit. Is Liss somehow manifesting the real Labyrinth of Xyphos in the tutorial copy of group 4's labyrinth?? is that how she is going to escape?

frankie doerr

Please kill melek he’s not even a champion yet and Nat’s gonna gift that fragment to his sister just to get rejected right

TheOne320

Do you think Liss will go to the labyrinth while Kim and Maya are in there?

ChildConsumerServices

On the episode of the Hell Difficulty Tutorial: Kim goes on a stroll with an old friend while Nathaniel and Victoria get interviewed by a Dead Man

Max Vidal

I so like the Fae... I agree with her/him/it/whatever it is, Kim Min-Jae isn't suitable for Envy. Perhaps he once was, but he grew up. He seems more... Diligent. Which is great character development. Nat is much more expressive than he thinks. The small smile, the hard breathing. Melek is so going to get screwed over. I love it ! That reward is such an obvious trap. Making it so public is pointing a big target at the winner. Not that Nat would really care. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Thien T

For all of Adrian's talk about declining the invitation to join the Game, the reward seems suspiciously too good. Or is it that he's still butthurt about Nat yoinking the Fragment from him so now he's scheming with Envy to try and do the same?

Peteski

Nathaniel's 30% just become 100% in a few seconds. Greed activated. 😎

Gio

Why is Melek allowed to curse?

Vadi

Can't wait for Nat's upgrades to all finish at once, a notification in his head to go ding, and his sister to just nod. Then Melek suddenly dies, the fragment disappears, and Melek dies. Did I mention that Melek dies? Horribly?

Matthew Hay

Bets on who provided the fragment? I'm thinking the Magi because Liss scared the shit out of him.

Alexander

Why is that labyrinth so important again?

Austin Barton

Melek is starting to remind me of that one asshole from the floor with Liss. The one that nat blew his head up with a sneak attack. and I’m hoping we just randomly hear the new ruler of envy has been killed and nat sitting there acting like he doesn’t know anything.

Thien T

“By the way, this is the real one, not a tutorial copy.” Kim found himself in the REAL Labyrinth of Xyphos?! Is the 11th floor of the Tutorial connected to the outside or does the Labyrinth simultaneously exist both inside and outside the Tutorial?

Nemesis

Presumably the reward is meant to draw in someone, possibly to try and steal it. Maybe Elian?

Nemesis

A better question would be, why does he keep saying "please fucking kill me" to Nat, live on air?

Augustus

Who was Kevin again? Was he part of their group on floor 1?

Nemesis

I would've assumed it was Envy or one of his allies in their current scheme

Nemesis

His fate may be similar...

Nemesis

Amazing chapter. No notes. 😁

tyhuko

Next chapter is on Sunday

tyhuko

TFTC! We don't know what the Fragment does, so it's hard to say if Nat even wants it, likely will go to Vic or maybe even Lily.

Tsorov

Because it's real, and not created by the tutorial? That really shouldn't be possible. Real places in the tutorial should only be reachable trough the use of tokens or beyond missions.

Matthew Hay

I was thinking they're just working w/ Melek and probably some of the contestants. Could be right w/ Adrian saying interesting things were about to happen though.

Mapthaniel

yes it was, killed by Lily disintegration

Nemesis

Apparently Maya is in there too. I assume Lissandra's ongoing work to connect to the outside has opened a tunnel between the fake Labyrinth and the real one, at least for short periods

Subliminary

Before this arc (mini arc?) finishes I really really want this announcer/host dead or at least told in no uncertain terms that within 2 years (tutorial end date?) that he will be dead with his head shoved up his ass

Subliminary

Obviously Envy and whomever else he dragged into his conspiracy. What the goal of adding this item as a reward aims to achieve remains a mystery though. If they had said Emperyean then i’d assume Nat would fight harder but Elysian doesn’t mean much to me? Unsure if it’s been referenced before. Also can people have more than one Fragment??

Subliminary

Are his “upgrades” still “pending”?? I remember he “upgraded” before doing Liss training but I assumed that was just settled somehow. Be nice for our boy not to have to fight at 30% power

Vadi

Yes

Rene Duvall

I want to stack chapters but its really hard man😔

Kaladin

If I remember correctly it's where real Liss had a clone and our fake Liss plans to kill her and incorporate her heart.

U

There are even multiple upgrades going at the same time.

Kaladin

Can you even have more than one?

Youkai-sama

Well. There's Nate's next power-up.

Terri Harris

I bet the nature of the labyrinth causes all the tutorial copies to connect to the real one, & its just one of the dangers of the tutorial if attendees cross over. So I bet Nats past tutorial self got copied all ready, as well all the others. Knowing the fragment is the prize will spell the end of Nats 30% effort. I bet even Vic gets on board. And when Nat wins Ruby will have to lend a hand to enable him to keep it. I was just glad that they didn't somehow reveal a certain precious unbonded Corgi as the prize. Nat would have lost it. Fun. TFTC!

xlejdez.

I think they already had a prize prepared and somebody (probably a Ruler) just gifted them a better one. But this whole tournament feels weird with what Fraudrian and Greed said. Like it is just a backstage for some bigger shit to go down.

TwistedVanity

I will be bitterly disappointed if Melek isn't utterly destroyed by Nathaniel or his sister before the end of his show ... "bitterly" disappointed. I think the fragment is likely a trap by envy and Adrian.

mulchymulcher

Chris can use his Possession to steal Nat's body, so he might see Nat getting the reward as himself getting it in the future

Adrian Rake

Of course. Magi has more than a few fragments of Eternal Fire.

Adrian Rake

Elian is after fragments of Eternal Fire.

LawBear2005

Honestly, that might be the absolute worst thing for Chris/Adrian to try. Adrian might be stronger than nat, but if there is anything nat is capable of defending, it is his mind. And knowing nat, he would absolutely kill himself as a last resort just so he could screw over Adrian. I think Adrian would know this and wouldn’t be dumb enough to try it. Also, I’m not really sure if [Possession] works like that, I thought Adrian possessed Chris as a baby, and there might be some serious limits around that particular skill, or maybe adrian isn’t so good at it, I honestly have no idea.

Hydrabogen

Natt already has two: Tree fragment and Bllavk Mana fragment

Adrian Rake

Are these two fragments compatible with each other:- a fragment of the NameLESS Tree and a fragment of the StarLESS Sky? 🤔

Nick

I feel like we missed a whole dialogue between Adrian, nat, and his sister…?

J W

Didn't the carebear take the little guy for some training?

Michael Williams

I must have missed something, how did Kim get out of the tutorial?? Also, another fragment for nat? Although I suspect not as he has said he doesn't want to follow the emperyean path?

thisisniall

Liss mentioned that real her visited the Labyrinth, and she could kill the copy of her there to gain her old mana heart. But it was sort of assumed / implied this was an “after escaping the tutorial” activity. But it looks like she might be somehow using the tutorial instance(s) of the labyrinth to connect to the real world one, or merging/combining them, which is potentially causing a ton of damage to the tutorial (mentioned in the previous chapter) in an attempt to get access to her mana heart faster. I'd note that she still has [Singularity] and it would shock me not at all if while that skill is usually used for world destroying levels of direct power, the finesse goddess/'my skill level is better than you' Liss can do some stuff with it, [Control], and [Spatial Leap] to 'bring points in space together' or something.

thisisniall

> "Thank you, I appreciate it," I answer, giving a small smile. "I hope I will be able to pay you back one day for your kindness." Oh Melek. You never should have challenged the Ruler of Pettiness.

Nemesis

I'm really looking forward to motivated Maya

thisisniall

Even Melek notes that the original reward wasn't nearly this good. It's given out by a one of the various schemers in this whole situation (which has at least the Greed vs Envy sides that we know of, with more feeling entirely reasonable with Temperance being name dropped pre-tournament). And of course, now that such a big reward has appeared, Christoph shows up. It definitely wouldn't shock me if Chris's interest was at least partially in the Fragment if it's as good as Melek is making it out to be. Worth remembering that Nat also previously planned to grab the copy of the Fragment of First Star on the 13th floor (information he got from The Last Elf), so he could very well end up with 3...

Andrew Miller

If there is one thing I know about tournament arcs in fantasy novels... It is that the tournament will 100% be broken or not finish aka something gonna blow up!

thisisniall

Keep in mind Nat originally intended to get the Fragment of the First Star from the 13th floor as well.

FarFromLogic

wait, when did he get the bllavk mana fragment?

John

I want that fragment soo badly for Nat, its just how greedy i am

Blooper

Well I'm actually guessing that the reward was given by Ruby, "betting" on the fact that Nat will win and keep a prize which she couldn't give him directly under tutorial rules.

Crow Says Caw

This does track yeah. Tinkering with the beyond array has given LissLiss a backdoor into the tutorial system. Now the rulers are “all hands on deck” to stop the tutorial from breaking. Make sense she could twist things so that rather than teleporting to fake labyrinth, the settings are altered to send ppl to the real one. Interesting stuff!

Sondadir

So we have an Impostor impersonating Kevin, and the guy know reflexion? The guy is also powerful enough to displace Kim out of the tutorial. It's Pride isn't it ?

Crow Says Caw

It appears that Melek is becoming well acquainted with “Fuck Around” The “Find Out” for Melek will be epic 😂 TFTC!

Yozora

This is the best situation to try to possess Nat, he is still tired from the training and part of his mind is taking care of 3 passive advancements at the same time

Alex

Lmao i forgot to finish yesterday chappy! So today's was nice! Full of questions : Maya power up ? Liss and Kim new meeting ? Changing class ? Maybe. Or not The fae knows about the system very well Someone else made a nice theory about the tutorial and labyrinth Why does the Fae use Kevin's upgraded fire reflection? And RIP Melek. He announced his death

thisisniall

People can definitely have more than one Fragment - its mentioned after Christoph kills Luan and gets his Fragment that he'll likely wait and get used to it before going after the one on Earth (which of course Nat vultures) in a conversation between Nat and Ruby. Elysian Frame has been referenced before - every Fragment is a former part of a God's Elysian Framework / Divine Framework. Part of the reason this one is so strong is apparently that there are fewer total fragments, and it's a pure fragment, making it a 'larger portion of a former god's power'. The fragments that appear on tutorial floors are also relatively weaker - although the Last Elf at least the Fragment of the First Star (which can appear on the 13th floor of the tutorial) was still very powerful, one of the strongest Fragments.

Ivan Jelenić

Phew, I though he was going to put Biscuit as the prize.

Primo

Kim and maya fled from a fight on the the 11th floor by getting into the labyrinth of xyphos entrance there

Gutz

Adrian ? Where is he ? Am I having alzheimer or something ?

YaBoiiSloth

Upgrades are still pending and his mind is still healing from the thought acceleration. Most of his focus is going to keeping his mind together rn

Primo

I still remember Kim on the first floor being one of the fastest to adapt with a lot of potential that even Nat was waiting more from him, but he was not able to keep up really with the strongest ppl in the group over the floors as he seems to lack that something, envy seems destructive & holds him back so far, so instead of going around with this false bravado, he would fit humility better imo giving him grounded confidence & signaling Nat which he envies the most that he is carving his own path, just hope cerim doesn't discard him as a dramatic death to rile up the others

thisisniall

He doesn't want to follow the Empyreans too closely because he doesn't feel like he can truly put his best effort into imitating someone else / a path other than his own. He wanted to evolve/upgrade his Mana Physique (which has happened/ is currently happening) to the point where it's stronger than his Ichor, and influences it rather than the other way around. We see this in his interactions with Lissandra as well, where he adapts the body strengthening / mana cycling stuff she gives him rather than just copying it. Lissandra even notes at one point that Nat doesn't fully accept her as a master, at least in part because she failed and he's challenging her to do better. It's also pretty clear that this is one of the reasons she likes him as a student. Nat's always been happy to take pieces from others, but its important to him to make those his own rather than solely following in the footsteps of others. To Nat, a Fragment is a tool, and Nat's happy to use them - he used weapons like Flamebearer and Fracture before, he has the Fragment of the Nameless Tree, he spend several Beyond quests commissioning a custom item from The Crimson Forge (which is easy to forget about as we haven't seen it yet). He also previously indicated he wanted to get a copy of the Fragment of the First Star. He just views tools as ultimately disposable next to pure personal power.

Michel K

What is think most people fail to notice is that the labyrinth is probably in beyond, in some of the floors, beyond is real, not fake, is where everything started and will end eventually. That's what I think.

Michel K

I think the prize is a trap for nat, one to motivate him to fight to the end for it and not just give up when he gets bored or pited against hos sister or someone else he likes, and second, to influence his build somehow in a way that he didn't want.

Nemesis

Maybe they WANT Nat to win? And then the universe is on his back for that fragment? or they expect someone to intercept him on return to the broken tutorial.

Nemesis

An interesting idea, but why would Pride care? Also, this guy is apparently a Fae and Nat got confirmation before that Pride is definitely a human.

Andrew

Thank you!

JTP

Wait wait wait, black man = Elysian flame?

shawn B

She said her mana heart is there I think

Hms

Well there goes the 30% limiter. Time to start wiping the floor with everyone.

M Schweibold

Would seem to go against the greed manifesto

Mark Bullock

Wasn't it kindness who provided the reward from Nats double meaning Kindness comment?

SqrlyGrly

FarFromLogic Nat finds out about it in the chapter Liss tells him about the system war

Matthew Hay

Cinder dropped him off at the wolf planet so they could deal w/ his backlash.

Lance Beam

TFTC. So, black mana is the system echo of a dead god’s power, and fragments are remnants of a dead god’s deific framework/authority. A god of the Starless Sky sounds to me like a god of the Void. Could they both be variants of the same god’s or pantheon’s powerset?

Memelord Steambath

I would be suprised if Nat didnt atleast leave a huge black hole of mana on their planet if he doesn't just outright kill this Melek fella then his champion guards easily

Memelord Steambath

I hope it becomes a running gag for the ruler of envy to just keep dying and another replacing him xD

Memelord Steambath

Nat wouldnt even have to kill himself as a last resort. His body would just do it naturally with how barely hung together it already is

thisisniall

Black Mana is a psuedo Fragment rather than a true Fragment since the Black Mana Godking didn't have an Elysian Framework However, it's definitely possible to have more than one Fragment. Ruby and Nat had a convo after Christoph got Luan's fragment where Ruby said Christoph would wait before getting a second one - this is part of how nat Ninja'd the Nameless Tree fragment

Primo

Same think too the labyrinth is part of the beyond plane and just as accessible to tutorial folks as non tutorial ones

Marwolaeth

No, the black mana god did not have an elysian frame, hence why black mana is not technically a fragment the same way the other fragments are

MrSlouch

Yeah the beyond array helped but I think the true backdoor was biscuit eating part of the tutorial.

Miranoji

So Liss is probably going to meet Kim and Maya or either one in the Labyrinth. The question is what happens when they leave? Are they going to come back to the Tutorial? Will they be outside of it? Thats probably what Ruby meant with making sure the Tutorial doesnt break… The Fragment is obviously somehow related to Nats Fragment which makes me think it might be from the same God. The question is, who sponsored it? Ruby is my best bet. It would make sense for her to provide the Fragment given that she should be quite certain Nat will win after the Training he got.. Also makes sense why Viktoria was selected as the other attendee since she would never betray Nat and use his 30-50 limit against him.. Envy probably knows what Ruby is trying to do and plots to fuck with both of Lissandras students with one scheme. Gonna be interesting.

Shawn Treants

Who is Daron? Is that just someone Kim used to know?

Tishane :Imperial MageKiller

Probably still pending since his constitution is so low his changes are more potent but also take longer than the normal ones.

Tishane :Imperial MageKiller

Does anyone remember the details of the starlets sky? Fragment I think Greed said something about it but I cant remember fully.

IRLight

Nat has two Fragments right now: Nameless Tree and Black Mana.

Melih

Dennis + Aaron = Daron, it's a joke on the Discord. Since Aaron's mind is inside Dennis's, everyone just calls him Daron or Daaron now. Daaron being the more common one

Shawn Treants

Perfect ty! I was like what? Lol

Georgiy

No. I think Xyphos is a unique construct to the fae and is able to trick the system. Based on how exotic fae magic in other works of fiction is i could imagine it working like that. makes sense why no one can find the fae, theyve been right infront of people the entire time. Very fae like.

Nats frame needs it. Otherwise I’d have thought maybe his sister would get it but looks more like a Nat build related fragment. Not sure it would work with his sisters abilities either as you can’t just replicate fragments.

Predictions: 1. The fragment will go to Vic. 2. Lissandra will show up. 3. Possibly kill Envy. Again.

Kim could be a temperance, not just diligence

I've been wondering. Is Melek in on the scheme? Maybe he is building Nat up as a sympathetic underdog because they are trying to grab someones attention. Maybe someone, possibly Pride, likes underdogs and they want him to notice and try to take Nat on as a disciple. This would presumably cause a fracture in Nat's and Ruby's relationship. It could also spark a fight between Ruby and Pride. Either way, they spite Ruby and possibly cause a distraction for whatever else they have planning in the background.

Melek probably knows something. The rest of that I don't know where did you get from. We just don't know enough about Pride and his relationship with Greed. Why she hates him so much but doesn't challenge him and why does he leave her alone? He already defeated her but weirdly he didn't kill her. Considering that Liss described Ruby's talent as higher than hers and Greed spends all of her time looking for ways to kill Pride but doesn't try to directly fight him, I think Pride made her vow on her title to leave him alone. I think if she could've she already would've fought him, so something must be stopping her. Like a vow or maybe she got traumatized and can't imagine herself winning. Kinda like what she's said happened to Fraudrian.

He just wanted to ragebait Nat and check up on his growth. He still can't harm him because of that promise Nat tricked him into.

I thought Ruby hated pride bc pride killed Lissandra, so she wants revenge?

Al

What does the fragment do? Why does it seem helpful to Nat specifically?

Hydrabogen

It sounds like a fragment for Aurafarming and Nat is all about that

The double blood upgrade was still in progress, but with the addition of Nyssa's blood and the evolution of his physique, everything became a total mess, and his physique is evolving as well.

frozzi

Nah, Adrian easily controled his mana during 3rd tournament, and it probably took more effort since it was someone else body. If he took Nat body I guess he could easily control mana, after all Nat just too green compared to all those millenia old Absolutes

I just realized that if Lissandra actually breaks the tutorial then being in the Labyrinth, or in Beyond, or on a quest, or another planet, might be the best for group four. Only have to really worry about Izzy, and Myrra, no way Sophie abandons Izzy. Although breaking the tutorial could mean a lot of different things. Its just interesting how few are actually on their tutorial floor right now. Ruby's mention of Diligence being worried, about the breaking of the tutorial, felt like foreshadowing. As well as the Fae with Minja sensing big things coming. Sooo fun!

wolf Bound

How did they end up in the real labyrinth?! was it lislis again?

To shreds you say?
