What is there to be said about all of this, other than what I experienced not that long ago?

It hurts, and it feels like it takes forever. In a way, it does, as each second for me is longer thanks to my thought acceleration. But I need it to deal with everything that is happening to my body. In a way, it is like a game. I observe the processes and prepare measures to deal with them and to stop my feeble body from breaking apart. And though my mind races fast, I need to take into consideration that each countermeasure will be applied much slower.

Usually, before I deal with one problem, another part of me starts to deal with the next one.

Lily is near me as well, but she knows better than to try to heal me, no matter how much damage I take. Her healing would just ruin it. I need these changes to cause damage or alterations, and her mana would mess with that.

Though even if she did not tell me out loud, I have a feeling she would heal me if it seemed too dangerous, no matter how angry I could get at her because of that.

While the strengthening continues to apply, that incredibly pure Empyrean Ichor injected inside of my body does not even fight with mine, it almost fully ignores it. It is just that much denser. My ichor weakly tries to fight back, and if I were focusing on it instead of the Mana Vessel, I would probably make it become stronger. At some other time.

The wyvern blood, taken from a baby wyvern and further purified, interestingly clashes against that ichor, and both of them clash against my body in something reminiscent of three way combat.

I, of course, continue with mana Cycling, which at this point feels extremely natural to me. I almost do not have to think about it if I am not channeling exceedingly silly amounts of mana. But that is the case now, so I put more attention into that.

That cycling of mana through my extremely mana conductive body pushes back against the foreign liquids injected. Not a drop of my mana seeps out as I keep it all inside to fight back, and the ongoing strengthening reacts to the situation.

Honestly, I do not know what to expect. I do not even know how powerful of a trait Mana Vessel is. Even if I were to think it is average, I might as well be wrong, as after meeting so many powerful people, my view of this is likely skewed.

Even then, the solution is simple: to do my best. That is what I like about all of this. I do my best, and I get rewarded for it. No one will take it away from me, and no one will make these merits theirs. And that is what makes it so addicting to me.

The thought acceleration deepens as I observe my body and continue to reroute constructs, hold back my mana, and calm down both of my hearts that threaten to go wild. I push against the wyvern blood and Empyrean Ichor, and time begins to lose its meaning to me.

It continues for hours, perhaps days, but my mind is used to it. I can stay for this long in a state of absolute focus, I can channel that long without slipping or making a mistake, I would not be able to take care of.

And for that, I am rewarded.

Due to the latest enhancements to your body, additional adjustments have been applied to your status to reflect your current state more accurately.

Mana Vessel 2/3 > Mana Vessel 2/4

Your trait, Preeminence Eyes, has begun forcefully strengthening!

The strengthening is influenced by your Mana Vessel, the ongoing external factors, trait synchronization, and is done to more accurately reflect your capabilities and the state of your body.

Preeminence Eyes 2/5 > Preeminence Eyes 3/5

Your trait, Empyrean Ichor, has begun further purification. While the number of strengthenings does not change, nor does the name, the Ichor has become purer, a step closer towards the original.

The number of strengthenings has been reduced to 2/5 to more accurately reflect the change, while the ichor only becomes more powerful and does not lose any of its previous potency.

A new substatus for Empyrean Ichor has been unlocked, serving to show its concentration.

Current Empyrean Ichor purity: 26%

I feel exhausted, so I do not even know if I should feel happy or not. Expecting an evolution was probably too much, or that just means Mana Vessel is such a good trait.

The strengthening of my eyes is unexpected and bothersome in its own way, forcing me once again to filter out an overload of information. And here I thought my low pristine Cognitive Hyperprocessing Vector would last me for a while.

The problem is I can only buy up to low pristine from the system shop, though I wonder if it is really it and if I won't be able to open mid pristine through some reward or achievement. Until then, I can try to get my hands on a low pristine passive skill combination token, and getting some unique pristine passive could be even more powerful than mid pristine if selected well.

It is something I will deal with when the time comes, but for now, I stop Lily from healing me. After days of sitting there, I stand up, realizing some of group 4 stayed up the entire time. I stretch my body and shake out the stiffness, only to find clothes lying on the ground next to me, black sweatpants and a light brown earth shirt entirely covered in cute yellow geckos.

I do not hesitate at all and put them on. The shirt feels a bit baggier than usual, though it is my size, and as my hand slides into the short sleeve and out, I stop to look at the fragment of the Nameless Tree on the back of my hand.

The fragment is still a translucent light green with swirls of soft yellow, blue, and deeper green within, but it might be me, or there is more blue than usual.

When I bring it closer to my face and observe the lights inside, it even seems to react to me, and that blue deepens further, pulling closer as if to reach towards me. But this is not my intention, so as I did previously, I cut it off from my mana entirely, as much as I am capable of with my skill at level 86.

It does not even take long for that blue light to weaken slightly and pull back. Then, instead of mana, I feed it a continuous stream of kinetic energy that I continue to do nonstop, with the exception of the most dangerous situations, when I will need all my brain power to keep myself alive.

I give a thankful nod to my friends around me, for which I get a nonchalant wave-off, with them saying that it was nothing. I do not know what to say to that, so I do not say anything.

Though it is sometimes nice to say things out loud, I still think that actions speak the most, and I always make sure to pay people back.

I start peeling down some remains of the inscriptions drawn on me that did not evaporate, dissolve, or absorb into me, and while doing it, I go over more notifications.

[Redistribution - lvl 81 > Redistribution - lvl 82]

[Focus - lvl 83 > Focus - lvl 84]

[Selective Adaptation - lvl 27 > Selective Adaptation - lvl 28]

[Selective Adaptation - lvl 28 > Selective Adaptation - lvl 29]

I think just a tiny poke is required. Wait for my body to settle down, lower my constitution by 50% or so, get a bit more spicy syringes, and I can push my Mana Vessel to evolve. But I cannot help but feel disappointed. Maybe with the Lycan’s knuckle they keep for me, maybe with my possible reward from entering the 12th floor of Beyond, I could evolve it today.

I then observe my Mana Heart, which I damaged slightly during the strengthening in my attempt to more directly connect it to my body. It is my theory that it should be possible to bridge that gap or entirely remove it and instead turn my entire body into one huge mana heart.

It is probably too early, even I realize that. I think even with Lily’s help, it would not work. But in time, when I let my [Mana Manipulation] affect me more, when I weaken my constitution, and at that point… maybe. Until then, I will have to deal with the uneven heartbeat of my Mana Heart that is damaged because of that attempt. If it had worked, I would have declared this floor’s Nathaniel to be better than third floor Nathaniel, but I guess it was not meant to be.

As I allow myself to slide and sit down into the chair, I close my eyes and allow myself to get used to the damage and reroute some of the pathways, as well as make on the fly changes to my Mana Circulation.

Then I force my way into my mental space and find myself opening the door inside my old room on Earth, looking for that silly child.

Of course, he is nowhere to be seen, but the door is pressed into a narrow V-shaped wedge between the back of the open door and the wall. I can tell because I can see those socks with holes peeking through the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor.

And I can hear him breathing.

With a finger, I poke the door, and it disappears, dissolving like a mist, and there Sneakythaniel stands in his typical old, washed up clothes and that holey, bleached long ago red blanket over his shoulders.

As he sees me seeing him, he closes his eyes quickly, as if that accomplishes something. As if I can not see him if he can not see me.

Reaching out, I pinch his nose and shake him, “You know why I am here.”

“I h-have n-no eye-dee-uh!”

I let go of him, “What?”

“I said I have no idea!” he says, opening his eyes that are the same as mine, though possessing no trait.

“Sure you don’t,” I say as I grab and pull his ear, “Now, tell me why the hell I have not been able to get a 10th skill for so long, no matter how much I tried.”

“Hehe, there you go again! That’s four times already,” he giggles and then twitches his face, “Ouch, that stings!” as I pull on his ear.

“So?” I let go with a sigh.

“You told me to hide it from you, so I am doing it. Blame yourself! And now go, you have a visitor!” he pushes me, and the space around me blurs as I get pulled back to the desert and see Aant and Zant coming closer.

Before they reach me, I quickly open my status and check my active skills.

Active skills (10/10):

Focus - Lvl 84

Perception - Lvl 79

Redistribution - Lvl 82

Eclipse (Pride) - Lvl 76

Empyrean Lance - Lvl 67

Manifestation - Lvl 55

??? - Lvl ??

Weave - Lvl 39

Mana Manipulation - Lvl 86

Selective Adaptation - Lvl 29

Haaa, what am I even doing?

I do realize that this isn't system censorship. It is just Sneaky and Redacthaniel hiding it from me. Well, and me, hiding it from me. And the longer I stare at it, the more blurry it becomes until the skill disappears from its spot, and the number of active skills changes back.

Then there is a feeling I have forgotten something, I don't even know what.

What was I doing, again?

“Sir Gwyn?” A young voice gets my attention, and I look at Zant standing next to his brother.

“Yes?”

“Please, come with us.”

And looking at his scary, serious brother, I follow them.

Ten minutes later, through teleportation and passing through many defenses and setting up defensive shields around me, I find myself standing on the cold side of Xyphos.

It is dark and much, much colder here, though thanks to the field they set around me, I feel comfortable as I stand in the middle of a huge glass-like surface reflecting the dark sky. Everywhere around there is sand, but just this mile or so wide circle is perfectly smooth.

On it stands a building sized, one winged pale gray wyvern with its scales having that faint, purple shine visible even here, and across from it, there is a similarly sized black ant whose carapace seems to be made of the darkest material possible.

Even then, I do not think Diligence is here in person. He is too shrewd, too careful, for that. And I also do not think this is all he can show, no, I bet he can get much bigger, the same as the wyvern opposite him. It is like they are holding back their forms to not destroy lesser realms.

Diligence does not skip a beat and turns to me. “The one winged wyvern says one of its requirements in our negotiations is for you to be able to check on your bond.”

“Huh,” I mutter, and look at the wyvern.

“Yes, it is indeed unexpected,” Diligence says. “Usually, I would just agree and try to organize a beyond quest for you to that place. But the problem is that your bond is in the care of that clan… which could become very troublesome.” He pauses and emphasizes, “Very, very troublesome.”

“I see,” I answer shortly, in order to make him talk and to not show my cards.

Diligence, of course, realizes it, and one of his antennae twitches in a motion that seems annoyed. “The one winged wyvern said it is capable of visiting there and is willing to take you there and then back. Safely even, not through a system vow, but by giving their word in one of the old ways, so I am confident in that.”

“In exchange for helping with negotiations, I want three disciple communication tokens.”

“How utterly shameless. We both know you would go there for nothing. In fact, I suspect you would crawl back to me, begging, and gladly forfeit that knuckle you are owed, along with a great many other things, just for the opportunity.”

“Yes, that is why I didn't ask for anything too shameless. It is just communication tokens, Dili,” I say and return his gaze, and he stares me down.

In the end, he gives up and says, “Deal, then.”

He doesn't even have to agree to that, and both of us know it. Yet, I sense something akin to understanding and gentleness. Maybe it is because he lost one of his vessels not long ago, maybe there is some other reason for it, but he seems to get my longing.

So I say, “I think you should be careful about Lissandra, even if the wyvern removes its domain and you try to trap her.”

“Has she told you about her plans while you were in the thought accelerated space?” he asks, and of course, he knows that happened. All rulers are nosy like that.

“She is not the type to talk about that sort of thing often, and neither would I care. I mean, I would be curious, and that is why I thought of it, and that is all.”

Diligence does not wave me off and instead watches me curiously. “So what did you think of?”

“There are three of her in the Labyrinth, correct?”

If he could, I bet the Ruler would squint his eyes, and even the wyvern and Aant watch me curiously.

“How would you know that?” Diligence asks.

“It just makes the most sense,” I shrug. “She wants the heart from an avatar of her original, but at the same time, I think she is just too different from her original, so a copy of her would be placed there as well. That is how the labyrinth works, correct?”

“Correct.”

“She must know that will happen too, and if I were her…” I pause, “I would probably take the heads of my avatars. I would use them as some external hardware, prepare some fucked up array or something, and let some calculations pass through the heads of my avatars to greatly increase the potency. Knowing her, she will do something even more fucked up.”

“And you don't mind betraying her like that?” Diligence lowers himself, moving his face closer to me. He even sounds a bit surprised, and in a way, shocked by the possibility I have revealed.

That accusation makes me chuckle. “I don't think she would care at all, and I don't think you knowing that will change anything. Even if she fails now, she will continue trying. You can't stop her. But if I am correct and this information helps you, well, remember that you might owe me.”

Once I return back to the usual space, I tell Group 4 I need some rest, and they seem to understand as I move a bit further and sit down, resting against one of the extremely heated stones. Yet it feels nice, even as I allow some heat to pass into my body.

Plus, it is not that far away from one of many entrances into the Labyrinth of Xyphos that are currently blocked.

I look towards the entrance, and think of many things before muttering in my mind.

As per our deal.

Author Note:

As it was prophesied, my vacation is here. I thought about posting one more chapter, but I will be traveling tomorrow. If something goes wrong or changes, having to deal with the chapter would just add useless stress to the trip. Yup, I never schedule Patreon chapters, I always edit them one last time just a few minutes before publishing.

Chapters will return on July 14th I think (don't forget that I work with the CEST timezone).

As promised, this break means I will not be taking a break when Book 11 concludes. If you got screwed up by the timing, just send me a message and I can issue a refund. I will check all the messages I have already received today or tomorrow, so don't worry. You were ignored, but not forgotten.

As for other refund requests, I likely will not check them during my vacation, but I will get to them once it is over.

Hmmm, what else?

As always, thanks for your support. It is greatly appreciated. Subscribe to Patreon only if you can afford it - I can survive even without it.

Please do not tease people who might want a refund. Even if you think it is "only" ten bucks, that amount can be worth much more in some countries, and you never know what people are going through.

You can join the Discord server too: https://discord.gg/KXRB8C44SX

There is a lot of yapping and theorizing going on, or you can silently suffer through the chapter drought together.

In case you are bored, I recommend a animated TV series called Pantheon. I liked it a lot. You might also check out anime like Evangelion or Code Geass. They are great, and Code Geass has one of my favorite endings.

As for reading, you could check out SSS-Class Suicide Hunter, Kidnapped Dragons, Trash of the Count's Family, The Second Coming of Gluttony, or The Tutorial Is Too Hard. They were all great inspirations to me, along with many others. For more popcorn-y webnovels, try Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society or Everyone Else is Returnee.

If you are more into games, check out Hades, Slay the Spire, Baldur's Gate 3, or Expedition 33. The Witcher 3 is great, and Metro Exodus has amazing atmosphere and immersion.

Well, enough rambling. Drink a lot of water, beware of the heat, stay safe, and see you soon!

Thank you for the chappie! Have an absolute mana of a vacation!

TFTC!

conkerer

I can stay for this long in a state of absolute focus, I can channel that long without slipping or making a mistake, I would not be able to take care of. Did he have a stroke midsentence

Dirty Pirate

I live for 95 degree weather with over 60% humidity swampnutgang# sound off!

Loot

tftc! enjoy your trip mirec

XPLili

Pretty sure the hidden skill is related to black mana

Psyren1596

Damnit!!! The great drought is here 😩 no more chapters for a while. How am I to survive !?!?

Nobyys

Good vacation

Thien T

Guy from last chapter invoked Monkey Paw Curls. Cerim indeed finished the trait upgrade in a single chapter and even revealed that Nat had a mystery skill all along that he decided to keep a secret from himself for some reason only to end it all on a cliffhanger just before the reunion with the best Corgi of the Tutorial. He can't keep getting away with this.

John

wtf is this ! only 26% purity??!! we will need to get this to 126%!! btw, great chapter loved it!

Nemesis

Oh wow, gotta wonder what that hidden skill is and why he felt he had to hide it. Given its position in the list, hes had it for a while. It must be the other thing he had sneaky hide back when he hid Adrian's true identity from himself ages ago

quiet

Enjoy your holiday Mirec

Opal

I can vouch for those recommendations. All goated.

Jonathan Willis

Holy shit, I never thought I'd see Sss-Class Suicide Hunter shouted out, has it become less niche since I last read it?

Florin Cojocaru

Enjoy you holidays and do not forget the sunscreen ( I am considering getting that tattooed on the back of my right hand , left beeing unreliable ) .

Vadi

I might read through The Legendary Mechanic again just to suffer through the wait. Han Xiao here I come.

Twmmy

So any ideas about his tenth skill? My guess would be that Lissliss is his 10th skill, he will bring her with him when visiting Biscuit. Then her and Wyvern will simply port him back solo or something. The wording of the vow to take him there and getting him safely back, nothing about a continued conversation or deal with dili. And if Liss had no issues of ignoring her word with old envy before, I'm sure the Wyvern has even less such.

Aldric

Man things are starting to come together. The moment Nat ends tutorial will kickstart crazy change

Terri Harris

Thank you! Best author ever!! ❤️

Ralph

Enjoy your time off!

Levi

Great cliffhanger, asshole! Enjoy your vacation 😁

Thien T

Have a wonderful vacation, Ruler of Cliffhangers 🫡

John

As for the hidden Skill, i d love for it to be powerfull, like [Control] or one of prides or greeds skills. But i think its something more unique, thats why nat hides it -> i just am wondering how he levels it? not at all or on accident, as a byproduct?

Nemesis

Gotta say, Code Geas is my favourite anime of all time. Its cool to hear the author is a fan also

Luxa

W Author Note

Ralph

Now I'm going to obsess over the hidden skill... What could make him forcefully forget it. Maybe something emotion based that he doesn't want to be influenced by knowledge of it. His mana manipulation stat has been increasing out of nowhere recently. Maybe the new skill is black mana manipulation. Hidden because he can't censor the name only. I'm more certain the new skill is sometimes that synergizes with mana manipulation, and something that's been influenced by his low con.

Sammot

Yes nat is gonna gut his constitution even more! Cant wait for him to litteralt decrease it to 1 or something!

Val the mysterious Jedi

I knew cerim is a man of culture, watched code g after 10 years and it still slaps. Cerim you are the best enjoy your rest, I already preorder the next audiobook.

tyhuko

Here it is, [Sacrifice]. That skill is gonna come in clutch.

Daniel

Gracias cerim.

frozzi

Oh, Cerim liked Second coming of Gluttony enough to recommend it? Harem ending for HDT confirmed then

Ivan Jelenić

Good guess, considering his clone, or whatever that thing was in that early tutorial level was, had it. Can he sacrifice his mana? Oh, he could sacrifice his constitution!

ethanskorpionX

Thank you for the chapter! Cerim… I don’t think it’s right for you to tease us a new skill, that was there for a long time even, just to hide it from us 😭. Well, too bad, I guess it’s teasing for this chapter means that it will be revealed soon enough. I don’t think it’s related to black mana though (black mana is formed by affecting mana with [focus], this shouldn’t create a skill. Moreover, since Nat isn’t aware of this skill, it means that it’s not something he used at all, as otherwise, he would know it’s a skill he uses, and hiding it would be useless. I think lyssandra saw it when he showed his status to her, but at the same time, it’s weird, because if it’s a skill worth hiding to himself, it should attract her attention at least a little bit no? It’s weird.

Little Watchmaker

Great chapter Cerim, also, thoughtful of you to give some suggestions. Will check out some of the books. Have a nice trip.

ariel maoz

Ok so since the lower skills are newer we know that the 10th skill came before weave, meaning it is unrelated to his training with liss, also, I wonder what liss reaction would be to the damage to nat's mana heart, thinking about the great lengths she went to in order to get herself a new one

ariel maoz

Unless I'm wrong about how skills are listed, the newer skills are at the bottom, meaning that he got this new skill before weave and so before liss training arc, liss probably helped him train it though

Loot

could be, but why would he hide it from himself for so long?

Hakron

I also wonder just HOW long he's had it for. The farthest back we see Seakythaniel is I think when he first got to the 4th floor of beyond. I doubt its that long ago, but who knows? Also maybe sneakythaniel levels it for him. Or maybe its name was so scary he didn't want to mess with it before he was ready?

tyhuko

Sacrificing his memory probably works too, and by hiding it from himself he can act natural around Rulers.

ariel maoz

His mana stat increased because of his upgrade to mana vessel, which gave him extra 500+500 mana points

Hakron

I like this theory! He did recently mention that his Mana Manipulation seemed too easy to level or he was surprised by it, so that could be what prompted this visit.

Crow Says Caw

Enjoy your vacay Cerim! Fantastic to not be left too cliffed Thanks for the chap 🔥👏🔥👏🔥👏🔥👏

FarFromLogic

hmm, I don't know how I feel about it if it was [Sacrifice], it would make sense but raises so many other questions, its a double edged sword so its very much fits him doing something stupid with it, just what was the benefit of hiding it from himself if it is [Sacrifice],

Paddy

NOOOOOO EVIL HOLIDAY ARC DEATH TO THE HOLIDAY ARC

Marwolaeth

Eh, 115 degree weather and 15% humidity is better because you think its nice outside till people collapse from heat stroke

John

He started with focus and ManaManipulation ,and they are not listed first

mitchell kaiser

Have a great Holiday! You deserve it and I can’t wait till you come back.

Donat Deplazes

Looking at how fast and effortlessly he has been leveling mana manipulation it could as well be singularity.

J W

If nat can hide something completely from himself why does he believe any of his stat numbers. Dude can be rocking a level 96 manipulation skill and not even know.

Dustin

@John Focus is listed first. But he combined Mana Manipulation with other skills, losing it and than he had to relearn the skill every time. That is the reason why it is listed so low. It always got added as the newest skill when he relearned it.

Manaless

Nat is taking the term "lying to himself" very seriously; this chapter left several questions unanswered. What kind of skill does he have to hide it? Have a good vacation, Cerim.

Kaladin

Going on vacation after the heat wave? Crazy! Have fun and thanks for the recs!

Edmund Dillon

The second coming of gluttony is my second fav, fantasy series. Used to be my #1, Im glad you gave a shout out. Tftc!!!! Have fun on the break

ariel maoz

Focus is first, and don't forget nat "lost" mana manipulation every time he combined it, last time it happened was after weave, the rest also match the timeline

Fdrugc

Tftc have a great vacation also I'm surprised he didn't get any stats.

Fdrugc

I'm guessing it a level 100 skill he won in a better with Lissandra

TBONEMAN

I have some recommendations for the chapter drought too. My house of horrors, praise the orc, greatest estate developer, the experimental log of the crazy lich, and chaotic craftsman worships the cube.

Sean

I wonder what will happen if someone mirrors him and he doesn't know about his 10th skill? Is that the reason he's hiding it?

Sergei Hartwig

What an Evil Author! Teasing us with a ?? Skill. Ending with a big Cliff and without some Buscuit to snak on. Enjoy your Vacation Master 🙏

tyhuko

Either to use it for a power boost after Fraudrian [Mirror]s him, to kill an Absolute before 450 and get some absolute monster of a class. Hm, there are some options. Depends what floor 12 and 13 hold, if they have a setting where the Ruler isn't the Absolute of the planet, he might stand a chance against a weakened Absolute if he were to sacrifice the skill itself. Pretty sure that's what Mirrorthaniel did when he was training Vega. Could also use it to get rid of more Constitution without going to Beyond and force better trait/skill changes, just like he did with Mana Vessel. Either way, it opens up a lot of possibilities.

granndfunk

Well that was underwhelming. All that hype for his upgrade and it was a wet fart.

Mark Bullock

Maybe he hides it from the system ^^

Mitka

Have a nice vacation and I feel like Code Geass could have ended better especially with the mc, it makes me think of Akame ga Kill

Alex O'Connor

Thanks for the chapter! Have a great trip and enjoy your vacation 🫶

Themo Grulld

This was cool and what I theoried was mentioned, but denied , with the feel of it not being wanted jet.

Themo Grulld

Think about Soph's Sister. And This one is a different one :.Nat's want for another "Visitor "in his head.

Name1

You mean the CERIM time zone right? Redacthaniel must have fallen asleep

Mike Davis

Great chapter as always! Enjoy the well deserved vacation!

Andrew

Thank you!

Lance Beam

TFTC. Enjoy your holiday Cerim.

Joel Ruiz

First of all, how do you write so much AND have time for video games, anime, and other books! Anyways, enjoy the well deserved break, I'll be patiently waiting while I read Wandering Inn.

Kevin C.

BRO SHUT UP. When people ask me my favorite anime, I always tell them Code Geass, because of the ending. The fact that they made such a beautiful ending despite rushing the last season is what's peak. The movie was nostalgic. The new series is... Eh. But I was so hyped reading that part of your outro I came to immediately comment. Now I'm going back to finish it. Have a good vacation!

iang

Eva mentioned? I always knew cerim had elite ball knowledge

thisisniall

While hiding a skill from himself feels like a clever anti-Adrian measure, there’s a part of me that feels like this is too clever. How does he ever get to practice the skill - it’s an active, not a passive, so he has to devote effort to leveling it presumably. Unless sneaky/redactthaniel can also use it constantly / hide it from the rest of him (and anyone else who might spot it?). Because even the most OP skill is mediocre at low levels… And messing with your mana heart like that! Silly Nat! Get that fixed! Still, huuuuuuuge upgrades on the traits.

KooZnack

Truly a sad day when every book recommendation given I’ve already read 😞

Jimbo

Did Mana Vessel go from 1/3 to 2/4? Or 2/3 to 2/4?

Jimbo

I think he's hiring it from himself because of Adrian. Its impossible to lie to Adrian unless maybe you are Sophie or Izzy. Nate can't do it.

Chun

The positions of the skills on the status page is based on when he acquired it. That’s why [Focus] is on top and [Mana Manipulation] is near the bottom because he keeps using it to combine with other skills. So to answer your question, he’s had it before [Weave]

ForgottenDreams

You drop the mic with the 10th skill now?! How evil!

Alex

cliifhanger huh.. have a nice vacation Cerim.. leaving me in a 2 week depression.. better take me with you duh

Arme nd

That would make sense, but we know he hid skill even before he met Adrian . Or there is something else he is hiding which seems unlikely.

John

@Chun, your right! thanks😁

cedric burnam

S-word is supposed to be a really good skill... we saw weapon was a beautiful skill... "no left arm" just doesn't have the same ring to it...

wolf Bound

Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society. Holy I haven’t heard that novel name in AGES.

AFunkyLad

I love how Nat has become a serious player in the system where he’s almost a 3rd independent/neutral faction between the rulers and the wyverns + roachsandra

Olli Erinko

I'm leaning towards it having something to do with Black Mana, and named with it's "real" name in it.

Real

Have a great vacation twinion

Flo Zilla

I theorize that Nat has no reason to try to hide active skills from adrian. Its doesnt benefit him at all, if he mirrows nats skills, he gets it either way. I think Nat got a skill he wants to hode from himself for his own growth. My bet is a Body enhancement skill using all of his energies combined. He would hide that to prevent himself from relying on it, he needs to keep doing it his manual way of enehancement to train himself, not let the System guide the process in a rather safe manner.

Hope you have a good vacation, loving the book so far xxxx

Stoney

wtf is the 10th skill?! How am I so oblivious to not realise he was trying to get his 10th skill?

Stoney

so he got it after Manifestation? How long ago was that, it feels like it was pretty recent but I can't judge the passing of time at the best of times. yTF would you hide a skill from yourself? Rather, why would Nat? It can't be coz it's a crappy skill otherwise he'd merge it. It being too powerful doesn't make sense as a reason coz otherwise he'd either not use it, merge it or get rid of it (can you get rid of skills?). I feel like it'd be something like an information gathering skill that just makes things too easy which can ruin developing his talents or other things. But it's valuable enough that it's not worth discarding.

Sondadir

From 1/3 to 2/4.

Maybe the skill is in the line of empathy or possession? Like he read people extreamly well lately.... and he did want a mental skill and empathy will give him an edge vs others if he dosnt know his using it 🤔🤔

Nemesis

My thoughts are that its something that he feels would negatively impact his growth as it may allow him to just brute force his way through most early issues. Maybe something like [Overclock] which would allow him to pump more mana into skills and arrays, turbocharging them

Some people seem to think the ??? skill is related to black mana, but I’m not convinced. The lore repeatedly emphasizes that the System never truly assimilated black mana. It copied its principles to create mana, but black mana itself remains outside its full understanding. If that’s true, it would be strange for the System to simply grant Nathan a conventional active skill centered around black mana. The only way I could see that happening is if Nathan somehow developed the skill himself and the System merely recorded it rather than created it. My current theory is that the skill is something more conceptual…a one-word skill along the lines of Origin, Authority, or Override. The story has increasingly revolved around themes of originals versus copies, the System versus this universe, Divine Hearts and Elysian frameworks. A skill like Origin could explain several mysteries at once: resisting possession (only the original occupant is valid), interacting with the System at a deeper level than ordinary skills, or even restoring things to their original state. Another reason I don’t think the subminds are hiding it purely because it’s dangerous is Nathan himself. Throughout the story, both he and Lissandra are careful not to let unique advantages become crutches. Nathan deliberately avoids relying too heavily on black mana because he wants his mastery over mana to come from his own skill, not from an inherited advantage. If the hidden skill is similarly overwhelming, his subminds may have decided that revealing it now would cause him to unconsciously build his entire fighting style around it, slowing his long-term growth. Hiding it could be the optimal strategy until his fundamentals have reached a point where the skill enhances them rather than replaces them. What I think it most likely isn’t is just another combat skill or a stronger version of an existing ability. If it were simply a powerful attack or defense skill, there’d be little reason for Nathan’s subminds to rewrite his perception of reality just to keep it hidden. Whatever it is, it feels like it has implications for the rules of the world, not just Nathan’s next fight. That’s why I’m leaning toward a conceptual skill rather than a black mana technique or another offensive ability.

He needs new type of blood, because otherwise, he’d be walking toward the same direction as a race that failed at becoming the strongest.

I have SWISH cheese for a brain.... how did I manage to FORGET that you went on a holiday? xD YOU HAVE TOLD us atleast 6-7 times ONLY on Patreon... This depression is WILD YO!

Ansordia

I highly second this idea only with some caveats! I think [Origin] is too weird of a conceptual skill.... I RATHER think the skill itself would be a danger to be KNOWN that you have it... like how Nat hid the fact he wants to kill Christoph/Adrian from him... I think this skill itself is something that could unravel him... I doubt its illegal by system standards or it might be and the system only scans active thought... but that would be too limiting so its probably safeish in the eyes of the system... but maybe not from others? OR It really ould just be a basic "I can't relay on this so I block it until my subminds and I agree I am ready to not rely on it as a crutch" BUT I FEEL like that should not be hinted at... or revealed or maybe yes? Considering we as readers were probably confused? I PERSONALLY only thought that the curse of everyone else is starting to catch up to him and skill gains are slowing down for him aswell...

I'll check out Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society and give Metro Exodus a go. Have a good Vacation. 😎

How long has it been since he's had an empty slot? There's so much potential since he can dedicate minds to train it independently. It could be champion level already! Very good chapter, and I greatly anticipate the return of Earth's future absolute.

2026-09-05 04:00 Nathaniel figuring out Lissandra’s plan and no one else considering it feels kind of stupid to me. Like each of the rulers have far more knowledge of Lissandra than Nathaniel does, especially Ruby. I kind of dislike when stories make the thousands of years old ultra powerful super genius monsters dummer than the guy who’s been doing this for like 4 years. Why doesn’t diligence consider Lissandra using her clones? He has millennia of experience on Nathaniel, he knows what is and is not possible far better than him. And why would he owe Nathaniel for just saying something he defines should’ve been able to consider himself?

his hidden skill could be something like masking or a perception blocking skill.... meaing an invisible skill which he hates so would block

So I have a theory on the active skills having a hierarchy where they are connected to grades this is particularly connected to skills that are connected to mind , where better active skills are more influenced by inner creativity.

En Non

What do you all think the new skill is . It would have to be some thing he actively does . The point the he got it would be from the armory to the third tournament, after accumulation. The possibilities would be as follows the mana vessel/shadow that acts as a framework, the use of inscriptions , the building and rebuilding of constructs not just inside but outside like firecube, the use or building of multiple minds, and some skill built from coming back from the brink or desperate survival. What do you all think , are there other possibilities? How was this hidden due to competition with Adrian or others , or simply because he doesn't want it to get in the way like black mana ?

En Non

He acquired it between the armory and third tournament. I think its a filler skill cerim made up in order to combine with adaptation. It's just one guess .

Luckily he's about to meet some potential strong-bloodline blood donors when he visits the wolves.

We know all true MCs in LitRPGs get a skill related to that one special thing that only the truly unique characters get...void. I think the timing would line up that he got this skill when Biscuit did his thing ripping apart the universe. So yeah, it's going to be a void skill or Nat isn't really a MC.

I've been reading the second coming of gluttony and immediately saw some similarities, it's also obviously heavily inspired by Black lagoon. Cerim has good taste.

Octagonal Corgi (J. T. Revell)

Someday I will learn to cliff like Mirec does...until then, I will continue to read his work in a desperate attempt to master even a fraction of his power.

Do you think his 10th skill is an active healing skill? I am relistening to the books, and man he's really dead set on getting one in like the first 4 or 5 books.

Arch Fiend

Before I ever picked this up I use to read SSS class suicide hunter, the tutorial is too hard and the second coming of gluttony, I need to go back and read them again.
