Bonus Bit #7: Ori and the Will of the Wisps

I take a look at how Gareth Coker Scores a cutscene, and note some aspects of the 'cinematic' style.

Love the bonus bit! Don't worry about the delay at all, it's the content that counts, at least IMO. I saw a lot of highly liked YouTube comments on the latest video mentioning that people would like to see more from you on the Ori soundtrack(s), so I'm glad to see I'm representative of some of your larger audience. With that in mind, hearing that you wanted to do a video on the Dorian mode next, might I suggest a few tracks from Ori and the Blind Forest or Ori and the Will of the Wisps that use the Dorian mode and which may be instructive in that next video: Ori/BF - Calling Out (0:00 - 0:49, mostly i-IV) Ori/BF - Up the Spirit Caverns Walls (1:46 - 2:29, also mostly i-IV. Has some interesting non-Dorian material surrounding the aforementioned timestamps) Ori/BF - The Ancestral Trees (More harmonic variety here) Ori/WotW - A Shine upon Inkwater Marsh (Emphasizes the bIII, fairly varied) Ori/WotW - The Weeping Ridge (stands in stark contrast to the more uplifting Dorian pieces, so this one is especially interesting IMO. Probably from the #vi°) P.S. I sometimes wonder if it would be a more effective use of your time to do lower-production-quality videos like this more often (not just for patrons) because they'd presumably take up less of your time to do than the usual ones and so you could do more of them. Idk how true that is though, it'd depend on the amount of time you spend analyzing music, transcribing, writing the script, editing the video, etc.

Wow thank you! The Dorian video had already been written and recorded when this came out, unfortunately, so I won't be able to squeeze any of these examples in there. But I appreciate it, I'll definitely keep Ori in mind for future videos!
