Lucifer didn't lie to the professor. He said "perhaps your guilt might be alleviated if you make amends". "Perhaps" and "might be alleviated" are the operative words. He was in fact telling the truth, that the key to getting out of hell is to overcome the guilt, which he has never seen anyone do. Oh and he dropped the note with the formula on it, because duh, he can't take a piece of paper with him - he memorized the formula then discarded the note. Did you notice the tune Uriel was playing on the piano to lure Lucifer into that room? It was "Killing Me Softly". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEbi_YjpA-Y ( Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly With His Song (Official Audio) ) Did you notice the look of incredible hurt on Lucifer's face as he pulled out of his guilt trip when the goddess admitted to manipulating his anger for her own purposes, and admitted to pushing he and Chloe closer so it would break his heart when he learned the truth? And I love that you realized Trixie actually sees or understands these are celestials.

i think what lucifer means by "none of it was real" is why his reaction was so extreme. when he hears "god put chloe in lucifer's path" he gathers that chloe's feelings aren't under her control. he believes that god masterminded his every memory with chloe and she doesn't have autonomy in the matter. i think he is also upset that his father was manipulating his life (aka god's plan) but his reaction is so extreme because of the combination of those things not just the more irrational bit about his dad

Best use of a song for that sequence. Unsteady. Great song!

That's one of the best musical moments in any show. SPN takes the cake, but this one is just the cherry on top. I think this is the first time the Goddess admits that she's not wanting to go to Heaven to get her famlly back together. She wants to punish or destroy God. She's out for revenge because he threw her in Hell after she tried to destroy his "new toys" (ie humans). See ep 2 of this season, where she admits to all the bad she did on Earth.
