Yes, this marrige is unfixable since Ross said Rachel instead of Emily. I understand Emily, but you know there's no way to Ross avoid Rachel, she's a part of his life.

Monica and Chandler are adorable 🥺💖🫶🏻 Loving Chandler's haircut. Joe is my precious child. And yes, Phoebe it's scary somentimes and yet so funny.

Jocelyn

apparently this isn’t how the emily storyline was going to end! the actress for emily got pregnant & so they changed the storyline to her & ross divorcing! i’m curious to know how it would’ve went if she continued to stay on though

gigi

love this season so much, great reaction sofie

Kane Is Able

"and condoms are the way to do that?"

Interesting to think about. My guess is, they probably would've broken up eventually, but maybe not until the end of the season. They could've done a season-long storyline of Emily moving in and the conflicts she has with Ross. Maybe a storyline of Ross having to secretly sneak around to hang out with the rest of the gang.

“IN LONDON?”

Jaylen Greene

Say what you will about Emily flipping out, but I respect the heck out of her for being able to recognize that no, she can't trust him anymore. He love bombed her hard though in her defense.

Aleksandras M

they could make her pregnant with another Ross child. lol. how they did with Phoebe when she got pregnant in real life , so they made the hole story with her brother and old wife

SidekickSteph

Joeys reveal moment is one of my favorites 😂 been waiting for that! So much amazing iconic moments ahead of you still, can’t wait! My favorite episode is quickly approaching!

Jocelyn

definitely, maybe she just wanted to have her baby & not make it a storyline lol (if they had offered that. i can’t remember if i read that they did or not)

I HATE the way they handled Emily. The fact that they tried to turn her into the bad guy in the situation always makes me uncomfortable. Rachel flew to her wedding to tell her groom she was in love with him, Ross said his exes name in the vows. And yet they try to make Emily the unreasonable one for being uncomfortable with them spending time together.

I totally get why Chandler and Monica would want to keep their relationship a secret. I mean, just look at Ross and Rachel and all their drama that affected the whole group. When they first broke up, they couldn't even be in the same room as each other and it made everyone miserable. And now all this drama after the wedding. And even when they were together, everyone in the group had their thoughts on it and the relationship was made into such a big deal and they had so much pressure. I think C&M just want to have the time to figure their relationship out for themselves before everyone else gets involved. Plus, come on, sneaking around is fun! They probably love the secrecy. I adore Joey figuring it out though. Just the fact that of all people, he was the one presented with these facts and was able to put them together like that. No one else had the information he had, so he definitely had that advantage, but he also had the disadvantage of being Joey, so yeah. Impressive!!

I totally get what you are saying, but Emily had some stuff BEFORE the wedding too. She cheated on her boyfriend to be with Ross, when she went back to England only then she broke up with him. And she had some not so overt controlling things over Ross, ones that Sofie noticed - the thing about the earring for Ross, the too-soon wedding, the attempt to controll who Ross invites and whom he does not... The controlling tendencies were there beforehand. It IS understandable why she was totally mad AFTER the thing, but she did not become controlling out of blue and only because of that.

I find it interesting that Phoebe feels hurt when Rachel says that she thought Phoebe would have been the first to leave the group - that kind of casual bluntness that disregards whether it hurts the other person's feelings or not is actually surprising and rare from Rachel, but totally a trademark move for Phoebe. Of course it hurts more when it is directed at her way...

Ysu73

To Rachel's credit, as much as Ross's decision hurt her, she did try to honor it to keep herself far away from him so he can repair things with Emily. Planning what to do after she had to leave the group and then going to her room when Ross spent the evening there. I liked that, and I also loved that Ross could not lie about her being there even if that meant the end of his marriage.

I agree about the boyfriend Colin in London thing as the way it’s explained it does seem like she’s cheating (Or in coincidental Ross fashion maybe she was on a break lol) but I didn’t get the controlling vibe from her prior to the wedding finale. When Sofie reacted to Emily making a comment about Ross inviting Rachel to the wedding, I disagreed bc Emily was just making a comment about it to Ross. And she mentioned her pov to further explain why she said it. She said afterward said she adores Rachel. I don’t see how that’s a sign of control as she didn’t gaslight him or make him feel bad she just made a comment showing she wouldn’t do the same thing necessarily. It’s not an unheard of opinion either, I know ppl that didn’t invite exes to their wedding. The earring thing is just Ross and Emily having a goofy time in the early relationship phase. The too soon wedding was Ross’s idea and they both agreed to do the wedding at the church. If anything it’s Ross’s over enthusiasm to rush into his new relationship that was the culprit. Emilys character really ended in such a negative place so that Rachel and Ross could come out looking better in the end. Not that I’m complaining, Ross became the funniest to me post Emily lol

Wendy

The whole Emily calling Rachel's apartment, and then having the nerve to be mad that Rachel is there. SMH. Its one thing to ask Ross not to see or hang out with Rachel one on one, but expecting he isnt going to see her at all, when she's his sisters best friend/roommate and he's close with his sister was jist so unreasonable. It also bugged me how he seemed more concerned with " I can't have two failed marriages, I have to make this marriage work, as opposed to wanting it to work because of Emily. That was another red flag.

Wendy

Yes, I agree with that.

Edo

Monica-‘Hi Emily’ sofie- UGH loool I nearly spat out my tea

Anjali Agarwal

I think Emily compromised enough by giving Ross a 2nd chance after saying Rachel's name at the wedding. The writers tried so hard to make Emily the villain and they unfortunately succeeded, because fans want Rachel and Ross (who in my opinion are such a toxic couple) together.

Ysu73

Is it really a second chance if it comes with ever-evolving, more and more unreasonable and unsustainable conditions?

Randy Giles

Yeah, Ross seems to be very concerned with keeping up appearances. Remember the episode where Joey got a job at the museum and Ross wouldn't sit with him? For Ross, it's more important for it to LOOK like he has a happy marriage rather than actually having a happy marriage.

Annie519

I agree with you. It really bothered me too that she calls at Rachel's apartment and doesn't expect her to be in her own home. She knew exactly what she was doing by going on speaker phone. And her demands were never going to stop, she was going to use this to always get what she wants.

Annie519

That was my biggest problem too!! And not many people actually bring this up. She was ultimately telling him to not see his sister anymore either. Not only are they roommates but they're best friends, so they are bound to see each other.

Annie519

I loved how Sofie thought Chandler and Monica having their first fight was cute. And I liked that it was a fight where there wasn't a clear who's right and who's wrong. Although, I was always slightly more on Chandler's side. Changing rooms 10 times would have been super annoying, along with the bellboy hauling all your bags too and he just wanted to relax for a bit and watch some TV, they had all weekend. But I know Monica just wanted it to be perfect, which I also get. And I also liked that they don't even talk about the actual fight, just that they did. But Chandler thinking they were over because of it was so sad actually, it showed the kind of relationships he has been in and he really thought they were over. I just love the way he looks at her!

Ysu73

Yeah, that would have been one solution, but since she was British with no intention to move to the States and no intention to fly often while pregnant, that made this version more difficult to do. I also read that the actress was difficult to work with, she did not get along with Schwimmer and the others and directors complained about her comedic timing or rather the lack of it.

EW

Emily wanted Ross to move away from Ben. There wasn't a single scene where Emily even met Ben. They could never have been a family.

Jason R

Lol Ross lecturing the others on not knowing how to make a marriage work after marrying a lesbian and saying his ex girlfriends name at the alter...

Jason R

Emily was Originally going to be in Friends longer but Helen Baxendale who played her then found out she was pregnant with her first child, so this how they wrote her out with minimal scenes of her, close up to hide her real life pregnancy, anyway I'm always happy Ross and Emily happened because we got Monica and Chandler out of it.
