That couch was so damn ugly 😂

PIVOT! is such an iconic quote. I love Ross’ unhinged era. 😂

C_Drew

U can say that again 😀

Pivot!

Oh, Sofie, I’m so sorry you had a migraine. In the future, please never feel like you need to film reactions when you’re in pain. It wasn’t obvious at all that you were suffering during this, but your health always should come first. And if you ha e migraines frequently, and haven’t already, maybe see a dr about getting a medication? I used to get awful migraines that left me in bed for 24 hours. My dr prescribed me something, and it’s been a game changer. I take it when I feel a migraine coming, and it stops it. And if I don’t catch it early enough to stop it entirely, it still cuts it down to a couple of hours instead of a whole day. 💜 I love your Friends reactions, they’re a highlight of my week. It makes me so happy that you’re such a Mondler fangirl. And the “Pivot!” scene is legendary. If you ever get the chance to go to “The Friends Experience”, they have a stairwell set with a couch wedged in it, and you can pose for photos with your friends and pretend to be trying to carry it up the stairs. 😂 Also, if you’re interested, here is the blooper of this scene. It’s one of my favorite Friend’s bloopers ever. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVULMCJj4Fx/?igsh=OXJuemlrMWk2OWo3

PIVOT! is as iconic as "we were on a break!" imo You know, I think in the actual storylines, Ross is sort of the most unlikable out of the friends a lot of times, but I think his character is saved by David Schwimmer being the best comedic actor on the show. Even the emotions he conveys in his humorous scenes (like his back-and-forth mood when he finds out about Monica/Chandler) give Ross more lovable points than a lot of his actual choices in the stories do. Also, Ross and Phoebe are always such a great duo whenever they're paired together. And I'm 100% on his side about it being a big assumption that he would just give a hundred bucks for a handyman he's never met.

Am I missing something. Why did we skip the previous 2 episodes?

Triene

She didn’t skip any episodes, you may have not seen the post

I know everyone loves 'pivot' and rightfully so, but 'you know what i got a good idea, why dont we turn the heat down ON THIS PRESSURE COOKER' is so well delivered lol. Matthew Perry's stress rambles are always so well acted but this one sticks out for me. This one and hte Mr T. I pity the fool 'ugly watch' scene.

mRAC

Thank you for that, for some reason, I have no notification of her posting this post. So it was actually not available unless your direct link. Thank you so much :)

mRAC

I guess I should just check posts and not rely on notifications going forward :)

In case anyone's wondering why the couch is broken in half at the end, there was a skipped scene from the extended episode where Ross (or Chandler?) accidentally triggers the fire alarm on the wall and people come running through the stairs and one guy breaks the couch by jumping over it. But the gag is still so funny even without that context. Ross is the GOAT this season.

Equinox

Yeah, Ross this season is hilarious! His 2nd divorce really changed him. I don't think Joey thought about Ross and Rachel's history when he was hitting on her. She definitely sees him as a brother.

There's one thing I never understood: Monica is portrayed as the relationship expert, while Chandler is portrayed as the guy who has never had a serious relationship before. However, Chandler's relationship with Janice lasted much longer than Monica's relationship with Richard. So what is it that makes Monica the expert? Of course, I realize this is a comedy show and it's not meant to be taken all that seriously, but I never really got the sense that Monica had any sort of wisdom about relationships that Chandler lacked.

Fra Neu

Two of Ross greatest lines in there: "My best friend and my sister" and "You were worried about me ?". He delivered them with such perfect timining and emphasis. Great reaction of you, Sofie .

Annie519

I never got that either. They both had bad luck in relationships, she was the one that was constantly wondering when she was going to find the right guy and usually it was Chandler she was venting to. So yeah, she was no expert lol.

DazzleFae

I guess it's more about Chandler's fears of commitment vs Monica's craving for commitment throughout the show. Though Chandler worked through that with Janice, and then Kathy. I guess both of them cheating on him made him regress a bit? Idk... I agree it's kinda weird...

Tim Arnold

It's funny how ep 15 has both one of my favorite storylines (Ross Finds Out) and one of my least favorites (Handyman Howard)

Edo

He was also with Kathy and even though it wasn't a super long relationship, it had a lot of importance in terms of Chandler's relationship history on the show. And he was really good w/ her except for their first fight lol.

Edo

"Go back to 3B, 3B!" LOL I'm guilty of using that in real life when I jokingly want someone to scram. maybe 1/15 people actually got the reference

Randy Giles

I'm glad others see what I'm talking about; I actually thought I might get some pushback for that comment. I was thinking about it some more and came up with a theory: In the past, we've seen that Monica has to be "the best" at everything due to her competitive nature, so maybe the idea of her being the relationship expert is an extension of that?

Captain Tinker

I'm not sure which relationship was longer but either way, how long you've been in a relationship doesn't dictate how good you are at relationships. Context matters and I think the main reason Chandler was with Janice for however long was because of how clingy she was to him (even the last time they dated, she just assumed he wanted to be with her without even asking him). I also personally believe that the show tried so hard to tell us that Chandler has commitment issues when that's not what has been shown to us from the beginning. It always seemed like he's the loyal type of person who wants to have real love instead of dating casually. His real problem is probably his insecurity about himself as a person and he never felt that he deserved to be a person who has somebody who truly loved him and that's what scared him. At the end of the day, him and Monica both had bad luck with people. Just because their previous relationships all failed doesn't mean they are bad at relationships. And Monica has continuously showed us that she's a great girlfriend who always catered to her partners' needs. She just either dated crazy guys or guys who wanted different things.

Randy Giles

I think a lot of Chandler's insecurity comes from his childhood and the messy way his parents divorced. Maybe a part of him feels like all relationships are doomed and destined to end with both parties hating each other. I'm sure he probably dealt with rejection a lot as well, especially during his Flock of Seagulls hair phase in college. Then there's the fact that Janice cheated on him in Season 3 and Kathy cheated on him in Season 4. So the insecurity makes sense. You're right, I don't think Chandler has any issue with staying loyal to a woman he loves, but what trips him up is the fear that it'll end badly.
