We hadn’t planned on sharing this, but we know how much you enjoy the behind the scenes moments, plus a spontaneous chat with Naomi and Dani... so here it is!

This was recorded yesterday as a technical test for our on-site team, helping us ensure everything runs smoothly for tomorrow’s live Q&A with Tony.

Hope you all enjoy this laid-back preview, a bit of flotation talk, and some stunning aerial views of the site. See you tomorrow for the main event!

JUDITH COOKE

Lovely to get something extra, and unexpected, many thanks. Hi Naomi and Dani! I am now sitting entranced by the gurgling of the stripy flotation tank…

Alan McMillan

Good to see busy, but careful work done on site!

Dianna

Love this! New Patreon and enjoy every moment!

Judith Singer

The only conversation I could really hear was between Dani and Naomi, but that was both enlightening and enjoyable. It's a treat getting to know Naomi after all these years of watching her on old Time Team shows. It was a great idea to post this even unedited - we Time Team junkies need to get frequent fixes. Thank you!

Irene Daly

Thank you for the bonus peep. I could bever

Irene Daly

Sorry! I could never do Naomi’s job. I’d be taking toilet breaks every few minutes! Looking through the microscope would suit me much better. Glad to see the sun shining on you all today.

John Workman

That was very interesting, good to get more info on Naomi's work. The conversation between Dani and Naomi was so relaxed so came across extremly well. Also like the arial views of the whole Sutton Hoo site, really puts it into perspective.

Stephen Walls

Loved the drone footage. I remember Tony and Mick sitting in the helicopter pointing out various aspects of the landscape.

Roger Mills

These guys no longer need presenters.

Todd Tevlin

Love this, thanks for sharing!

Julied123

Lovely to watch Naomi and Dani and really enjoyed the flyover!

Wessex-Wyvern

The drone footage gives a good overview of the site. I hadn't realised it was quite so extensive. Naomi's use of bicarb soda reminds me of a time when I was disaggregating shales using, if I recall correctly, sodium hexametaphosphate, to look for microfossils. Bicarb is definitely the gentler option!

JanD

Reminded me how much I've missed Dani and Naomi's holiday chats.

Janet Hay

About as close as we can get to being there. Love the conversation between Naomi and Dani. So relaxed and informative. Drone footage is superb too. ❤️

Patricia Amero

Well, that was a neat surprise. Thank you for the interesting & entertaining gift. 🙏

Barry Jones

I'm obviously the odd one as usual. But could we have a similar fly over when the diggers are actually removing the soil and items of interest. it seemed that the fly over was filmed at break time again. When nothing was happening. 😞

Jude Edling

Thank you! I love Dani and Naomi's conversations!

Terri Brown

I just love Naomi! I am just fascinated by her work!

Bron Lloyd

Thank you for this treat! I love Dani’s and Naomi’s conversations - I’d love to see more of those video chats again, love the seasonal ones! Thanks for looking after us by giving us these extra bits. I did spend a lot of time trying to read Naomi’s sleeve haha! Eat, Sleep, Something (Sieve?), Repeat.

Brooke

Oh it’s like a Time Team ASMR 😍

Richard Horobin

Very much like you using the drone to zoom out from one area, move to another and then zoom in on that. Maintains context and orientation.

Richard Horobin

You guys need to use more sun protection to protect your skin. Slip, Slop, Slap.

Jessica Wicks

I love the footage from the drone. For the first time I have a clear image in my head of where everything is.

Lou Charlton

Wow the drone footage is amazing 🫶. Thank you for posting this.

Houston Huggins

A fantastic way to enhance the drone segments would be to add Stewart Ainsworth's voice-over. His expert commentary on the landscape archaeology, delivered in real-time, would certainly take the viewing experience to a higher level.

Michelle Cailes

Won’t let me view the video. Keeps telling me to sign in. I have now logged out and logged in a couple of times and no luck.

Kofbod

Excellent drone coverage of the area. A brilliant series.

Pauline Purcell

Thanks. It was interesting to see the variations in soil colours in the trench.

Kate Street

Fantastic. This really enhances my view of the site after visiting in 2016. I can't wait to come back with all this wealth of extra knowledge. We'll done Time Team.

Leigh Francis

Drone was terrific for numerous reasons! Visiting Sutton Hoo early August so a great additional bonus! Thank you all…………..

Graeme Hurry

Watched it twice, really relaxing and gives a great idea of the site.

Martin Young

I just caught a proper glimpse on the Live feed, today! ‘Eat, Sleep, Float, Repeat’ 😁👌

Anne

Great and gave a much better idea for me about just how much walking I might need to do when/if I manage to visit

Lorna Dryden

The bird song alone is beautiful
