Thanks Emma, that is a great primer :) Metal Detecting is a really very rewarding hobby. The rules in the UK are sensible & easy to follow. You can find lots of local clubs in the UK ( and around the World!). I usually go on a club dig every Saturday. The finds.org.uk (PAS) database is fun to look through too.

Fantastic vid thank you! Echoes exactly all I’ve learnt from watching videos of John, The Scottish Detectorist, and, not to forget, Holzhammer Sagas. Cheers!

This was great! I watch a few folks who do metal detecting, and only get the upside of their hobby. You really let me know what it's like from the digger's perspective, and will make my future watches more meaningful!

Every US state has a preservation office. Typically just google the state and SHPO. They should be your go-to but there are layers below them (local historic preservation, tribal lands, state parks, and universities) depending on what it is. The US doesn't have a national treasury act like the UK but other regulations. Speak with the SHPO before you do anything and make no assumptions.
