Time Team's expedition crew have been on the Mapperton estate in Dorset where they've been excavating a mysterious structure in a field. Helen Geake and Martyn Williams take you to the heart of the dig and wonder whether the discovery could be a long-forgotten Roman building.

There's also exciting news from Time Team's Jackie McKinley who's received some remarkable information about the bodies of a young boy and girl found buried together in a grave in Cherington, as featured in our 'Princely Burial' dig.

Don't forget that as a Time Team member you get exclusive access to ad-free episodes. If you're supporting us at Project Supervisor level or above then you get the chance to hear bonus episodes, another one of which is coming soon.

Wow, another packed episode, so many interesting things to talk about. I’m looking forward to more on the alphabet and etymology next week.

The fascinating history of Mapperton (which I want to explore) and the amazing results of the DNA on the Princely Burial made for a power packed podcast. The ambient sounds of the trowels scraping and Martyn walking through grass brought me on site aurally. A question for Helen or Jackie. Can you get ancient DNA from the saved bones of people found in past years rather than freshly found bones as in Cherington and the two cemeteries Jackie is writing about, to further this new enlightenment?

At 4 mins. A wall. My interest immediately piqued but heard an echo from 40 or so yrs ago of my then teen son, looking up from his book as I watched Time Team. " oh look! What a surprise! A wall. 🙄
