Last Friday, we were delighted to premiere our latest Ness of Brodgar film in Orkney. Before the screening, John Gater took to the stage to say a few words, and we wanted to share his speech with you.

John makes a point that simply can't be said often enough. None of this would be possible without you.

As a Time Team Patreon member, you're doing far more than supporting a YouTube channel. You're helping to fund new archaeological research, new excavations and new discoveries. The film you're about to watch exists because of your support, and so does the work we're carrying out right now in Orkney.

If you haven't already, don't forget that you can watch the full, unreleased version of the Ness of Brodgar documentary right here on Patreon, completely ad free.

As our excavations continue over the coming weeks, we'll be bringing you exclusive updates, behind-the-scenes access and the latest discoveries as they happen.

From everyone at Time Team, thank you for being part of this journey. Every excavation, every survey and every new piece of evidence adds to our understanding of the past, and your support is helping to make that possible.

Awesomeness on many levels :)

Great speech, John. It's humbling to think that my small financial contribution is a part of all that Time Team achieves these days.

Thank you for these daily snippets. After visiting the Ness dig for almost all of its 20 years, we find that our planned trip this year has been stymied by illness. With these updates we can travel there in spirit., and imagine the scene.

Thank you for sharing this! Would it be possible for someone to write actual captions to these videos? The "auto generated" text is often very wrong, and not all of your patreons are native english speakers so it can be very hard to figure out what people are saying, because of accents and less-then-ideal audio. Would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I love being a part of Time Team and also knowing that my small donation every year goes towards helping you do more excavations.

May the force always be with you. The power of people can move mountains one spoonful at a time. Happy to be a contributor. I saw my first dig at 8 and found a fossil fish at the same age. I have carried a love of and interest in our origins as a species and our long journey. So much to discover still. The UK is just stuffed full of history.

Thank you! Marvelous speech John. I hardly watch anything else.

It’s SO great being part of Time Team!

We are proud to support you all no matter at what level we can afford, the power of many is what matters. To the future, and to Mick he wanted the people to get involved, well my gosh we did!!!

What a pity it’s so difficult to hear!!

Here in the U.S. I fell in love with Time Team after stumbling across the program on Amazon Prime about 10 years ago! I love history and the show made me fall in love with Archeology . Two years ago I was in Orkney and tried to see the Ness of Brodgor but the site was covered with plastic and tires. Hopefully I will get to go back to Orkney and see it! I’m so happy that my small donation allows you all to do more of what we all love!!!

I don't think I've ever really fully considered that my small contribution to the Time Team Patreon is actually helping keep my favourite people, places and topics on my screen. It's very humbling! Loving everything about this Orkney dig, can't wait to see what's next!

Hear, hear, John. Congrats to you and all of Time Team (including Patrons)!

So lovely of him to mention us first! I’m so proud to be a Patreon!

John’s comment about seeing grown men cry is relevant to me as I cried on my last day at the Dig in 2024. Very emotional to see the Dig back in action again and I’m not there!

This was a great Special, I have now watched it a few times already and have really enjoyed it. Emily you are a champ!
