Great update - amazing to see the progress on site.

I was there today!! How did I see Sir Tony but not Martyn? I guess Sir Tony stayed for the second tour as well, which was lovely. He even gave us a little talk. It was the treat of a lifetime to be there today. Could only have been topped by a sighting of Helen and Martyn.

Michael O'Connor

Love Martyn's style. He could easily be the next "Tony"

Peter Blay

Did they throw the artifacts over the wall

That idiot Chris

Great to see the trench developing, very exciting stuff. Is there an overview somewhere that we can see where the original dig site is in relation to this new trench? I'd love to know how this relates to the buildings we already know about

Alan McMillan

Last time I came here, everyone had covered the dig again, and weird goingbhome still next year Annd now?

Wessex-Wyvern

I'm so thrilled to be a small part of this really exciting work 👍

DIANA R NELSON

Always wonderful to see Sir Tony. Martyn does a great job.

Would like to say I love dig watch because of how much of the process is shown, even the "boring" parts. Many of my favorite classic time team episodes are ones where very little happens or little is even found for most of the dig. Seeing the approach of what decisions are made or how long a step takes really adds context to the cooperative scientific process that a dig is.

Leitchy

Brilliant. Loved the real inside, behind the scenes, look at the dig. Can't wait to see more.

Denis Oliver

I look forward to every update.

Roger Mills

Really...I fear however that's what might happen.

Tracy Poole

A pulaski is what my dad would have called the tool that Jackie and Martyn were talking about (the mattock/maddock).

Good post. Martyn has injected a bit of fresh energy, without daft questions. We visited the Ness enough times to say that the central feature is clearly a hearth in the centre of a building. It will be good to take it through to the end of week 4 though. Lots of info/plans etc on the Ness Brodgar website, for those who are asking.

Michael O'Connor

Not at all. Just an opinion. I think he would be great.

Anne Marie Anderson

I don’t think so. Martyn regularly admits to knowing nothing at all about archaeology. Tony is an educated amateur and knows more than he will cop to!

Carl Johnson

Wonderful update, especially since we are now being able to see more of the archelogy.

Gin

Same! Such an honor to be part of this collective!

I'm watching from the Kāpiti Coast, New Zealand. Such a wonderful Dig Watch, thank you Martyn. So much has happened since I visited Orkney and sat by the stones at Brodgar, listening to the curlews.
