Kielder Forest turns 100 this year – and we’re giving one Time Team member and a guest the chance to be part of the celebrations!

We’ve teamed up with Forestry England to offer a very special, expert-led visit into one of the oldest and most beautifully preserved parts of Kielder Forest on Saturday 5th September 2026.

Beginning at Kielder Castle at 11am, this approximately two-hour excursion will take you deep into the forest with expert guides, exploring an area with a fascinating history that is normally off limits to the general public.

The forest visit forms part of Forestry England’s 100 Years of Kielder Forest Celebration Weekend, taking place across Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September. There’ll be forestry demonstrations, traditional horse logging, cycling, live music, family activities, food and craft stalls, a vintage and classic vehicle show and plenty more.

Entry to the wider celebration weekend is free, with parking charged separately. The expert-led forest visit is a separate ticketed experience and is now sold out – but Forestry England have kindly reserved these two places especially for the Time Team community. And we’ll be throwing in a selection of Time Team goodies for our winner too!

This opportunity is exclusively for Time Team members on Patreon. One member will be selected at random from eligible expressions of interest and can bring one guest.

Please bear in mind that the experience involves approximately half a mile of walking through forest terrain, so you and your guest will need to be comfortable completing the route. Travel, parking, accommodation and other expenses are not included.

Entries close at 23:59 BST on Sunday 30th August and the winner will be notified by email.
