The Mystery of the Cornish Skeletons 🦴

Here's a behind-the-scenes shot of Tony and Phil in the trench in one of Time Team's Classics, filmed in March 1996.

A local landowner installing water pipes came across human bones. The site was a former leper hospital, sitting on a major crossing point between Devon and Cornwall and Time Team tried to uncover answers in just three days.

Phil unearthed a complete skeleton and Osteoarchaeologist Margaret Cox examined the remains, identifying a young adult female, and searched the bones for tell-tale signs of leprosy.
