Day 2 has come to a close and we are in full swing!Martyn Williams & Lawrence team up to take us around the site to see how things are developing after another busy day of excavation. We take a look at some of the finds coming out of the dig, before catching up with Naomi at the floatation tank to find out what happens to the soil samples - and what tiny clues they might reveal about the site. And Martyn's day certainly isn't over, as later in the evening he's heading straight to record the podcast in front of a live audience to share the story of the excavation so far, and get some juicy questions for our panel of experts. There's just one day left to answer our questions and make the most of every minute on this special site...Bring on Day 3!

So lovely to see old favourites like Sir Tony and the "original" team!

Lilli Haicken

Walls, at least some of them. So, which is the earliest? How much of the stone was rubbed out? And - more of the finds!

Mac Whatley

This was great- I’m getting a real sense of what’s happening- so glad to have this window onto the dig!

Conan Mills

Many years ago, probably 2015, we were visiting Castle Acre in Norfolk, when we lived in the UK, and got a show from the Red Arrows. It was a really neat display.

Linda Pansing

I was lucky enough to see the dig and evening talk on Saturday. Thanks so much for holding an open event. It was truly well done!

Grampus854

An interesting episode with quite a lot to talk about. For some reason the subtitles came on when watching this and “finds tent” was changed to “fiends tent” in the text.

JUDITH COOKE

It’s 1:30 am in Melbourne, Australia and wonderful to be able to log on to all the action and energy of Day 2. Thanks for providing more interesting commentary and access to the finds now appearing as the dig progresses. Lovely to see Dani and Naomi and others doing their thing. Best wishes for the remaining day.

Giles

great work guys, looks so interesting, glad the Indian summer is holding out for you!

Anja Adam

I have to admit, I wasn't all that excited at first. My interest in medieval hospitals—or leper hospitals—is limited. But now you've got me hooked! I can hardly wait for tomorrow's DIG Watch!!!

DIANA R NELSON

Fantastic. Nice job guys. So nice to see Dani, Naomi and Carenza.

Melissa Lawrence

What a wonderful review by the BBC… oh wait we are drip fed here 🤔🤣

Jane

Good to see what goes on behind the scenes of a Time Team episode and the enthusiasm all round

David Clark

For the other Americans viewing this: ring pull = pull tab, and fun fair = carnival ;)

Ann Wagner

Wow, it’s so exciting to see all this discovery going forward! Can hardly wait for the next dig watch, the podcast, and the finished show itself. Brilliant work!

Shaun

It's been great watching this, can't wait for day 3 watch, what's all the other filming that's going on what will that be going on? Thank you

David Boon

A great way to procrastinate and avoid starting work for the day in Australia. So happy for those digging the test pits to find some great archaeology.

Brian M

It’s like a who’s who (roll call) of time team with many of the original/longstanding and amazing team involved. Wonderful to have the dig watches to see how the dig is progressing over the weekend, and to see some very sharp, warm and committed people doing what they do best!

Anne Collinson

Just loving this . Almost wishing I was back across the Atlantic! ( I am in BC Canada)

James Leighninger

Glad you FINALLY fixed ( or replaced) Lawrence’s microphone. Like yesterday, the first half was really hard to hear. Great job, Martyn! You may not have the archaeological background, but like Tony, you know what to ask and how to ask it to elicit good answers!! Always glad to see you on site, besides podcasts with Helen! Thanks to you all!

Wendy Sengpiehl

Thanks for a great report ! Watching from Los Angeles.

Lynda

Very exciting

Alexandra

TIL that the UK version of the Blue Angels are the Red Arrows and this is why I watch archeology shows.

Denise Smith

I truly miss the OG's but you ALL are doing an excellent job.

Eggs Ackley

As Mick may have said, CRACKIN’!

Leitchy

Wonderful to watch, but would have been better if one of the microphones actually worked properly.

Bron Lloyd

Just caught up in Adelaide, South Australia. So wonderful to see Dani! I miss her, often get quite nostalgic about the early segments filmed in her garden. I used to to love the online festive chats during COVID between her and Naomi.

Jay Kirwan

Hey all!! Great video- much brighter than day 1 video was too. Much easier to see everything. Perfect. I have nothing personal against Martyn but I cried a little when he was today's co-host and not Hilde. I'll give yous a pass today but let's not make it a habit, eh?! 😂🤣🤪

David Dearden

Considering that this was recorded more or less "on the hoof" with minimal time for any post production this was an extremely high standard of a video. It puts the output of the main steam broadcasters in the shadows.

Dr Richard Mellish

Sorry typo which somehow got posted before I could correct it. Starting again. Too late for this digwatch, but next time can someone sort out the sound levels from the two microphones? One is so much louder than the other and has far more treble as well.

W Pierce

Fantastic update! Loved the reaction of the Red Arrows fly past -- brilliantly timed!!

Stephanie Neva

Wow! Jane! She has so much knowledge! I could listen to her all day, such enthusiasm too. Just lovely. Thanks to ALL, great dig watch!

KikiKA

Yes!! The quick on site turnaround from the production and operations teams is really underrated!

Tim Bend

If there wasn't the matter of the entire North American continental shelf, and a large chunk of the European, I would love to go and meet so many 'old friends' and be a part.

Menetho

I'm guessing they gave Martyn a MUCH better microphone because his voice was most loud. Not to worry, I turned on closed captioning and all was well. Very enjoyable.

Eelco Kruidenier

Please ditch the trowel mics. They are a nice gimmick, but get some real ones. Jackie but also Lawrence are very hard to hear. For some reason only Martyn can be heard well all the time.

Adrian Murphy

Speed-watched this because, like day one, the audio pick-up from Lawrence's mic was so poor. Thankfully fixed towards the end of the video.

Moxie

Haha, love a good Freudian slip from the auto-generated subtitles 😅
