Helen Geake and Martyn Williams bring you a bonus episode of the Time Team podcast from South Common in Lincoln where the team is excavating the site of a medieval leper hospital.

You'll hear conversations with Louise Wilkinson from the University of Lincoln, Time Team's Naomi Sewpaul and Dr Samantha Tipper who dug at the site in 2025. You'll also get answers to the questions you've been asking here on Patreon.

Thanks for continuing to support Time Team. You make digs like this possible!

What an absolute treat to hear the enthusiasm in everyone's voices and in their descriptions surrounding this dig! I will visit Lincoln one day and hopefully be a Time Team volunteer on a dig somewhere when I take a trip across the pond from SoCal!

Just joined for the third time! I watch you every day. Have watched many of your episodes dozens of times. I prefer the original crew but many of you original crew are still there. this leprosy colony dig I suspect is a site you dug 12-15 years ago. Sad that many: Mick, Robin, Victor, etc. have passed and Phil now is only rarely there but I think his body has become quite painful after digging in the trenches so many years. I’m proud of my British heritage. My sixth Bunting grandfather immigrated to Philadelphia with the party of William Penn from Bunting Field our ancestral home since 1285, in Derbyshire, England. It is between Matlock and Chesterfield. Thank you super expert Time Team members Carenza, Helen, John, Stewart, Matt, Guy, sometimes Tony, Jackie and others for sticking with it so long! I love you all, you’ve been welcome and cherished here in my living room thousands of times!!!❤️❤️ How much I wish I could visit and dig with you in person!! I even bought and keep handy a Marshalltown trowel but , quite disabled at 87, my chance to join you is near zero. PLEASE don’t ever quit Time Team!!

David - i live in Bonsall near Matlock. I dont know if you are aware, but Bonsall was in the Domesday book as Bunteshalle - Bunts Hall.. and Buntings still live in the village. If you didnt know check it out. From a digger to a fellow enthusiast. Fiona Drake

Question are you considering shifting to another platform given Apple Pay's exorbitant fees? Another creator I follow closed up shop on Patreon. His situation is such that he can move to a pay as you go tip jar. That wont work at your scale. There may not be another option, but creators and/or their patrons should not get hit with up to 30% fees for transactions that cost almost zero to process. Come heck or high water I love what you do and will continue my support, even if Apple Pay leeches are skimming off the top.

I can't wait to see the full outcomes of this dig.
