Very nice to hear these views!

Sarah Holloway

Wonderful to hear about the new developments in technology now available and love the new format and ideas ! Super to meet everyone and hear their questions and comments and looking forward to hearing more .

Mark Cooke

More of this pls. I’m ex army and an interpreter I love the team work and Logistics I also love the way that the specialist another team members add to the interpretation in and around objects and how this improves our overall understanding. Some of the things I really remember is the JCB with a flat tire and have affected things and also tense blowing off into hedges

David Richardson

This was a really excellent session - great to meet some Producers, and the description of the new technology was fascinating. More of this!

Liz Dyson

love the less episodes but deeper content idea.

Janet Hay

Great discussion and I completely agree with the approach being taken. So many programmes on both Channel 4 and Channel 5 involve gimmicks or presenter before subject features which have no place in Time Team. Like the Producers, I have loved the insight provided to Site Directors about what goes on behind the scenes. I have also greatly enjoyed the interviews, and the presentation about imaging was fascinating. Thanks also for letting us see Tim's discussions with Mick. More please if you have them. Also, does Time Team Digital still have the rights to un-broadcast material such as cameos or interesting discussions that there wasn't the time available to include in the original programme? It would be great to add those as a supplement to the Teatime streams. This is all going in a very interesting direction, and I am looking forward very much to seeing how things develop. Thank you all.

Anne Collinson

Really enjoyed this discussion. I love the idea of knowing more of the background information and also more involvement of the experts. Thank you all

Ray Roberts

I think TimeTeam wasn't really a show about archaeology but about people; both the "Team" on site and the window into the people of the past. That's what made it so engaging. So it's critical that the science shown provide a connection to the people of the past. The very best scenes always included that connection. It could be as simple as finding a pottery shard and having it's use and impact explained or as complex as the explanation of a Roman forced march and the rigors of building the overnight encampment. I believe it's critical for the New Time Team to do sites early on that can illuminate the daily lives of people from the past; while highlighting the Team aspect of the TimeTeam. (That's why the pub scenes were so amazing). Maybe that's obvious to everyone but let's not get lost in the minutia of a science paper (lord, I do that enough) unless we bring the people along with it.

Rachelle Gates

Love the episode this is very informative and interesting it gives us more background and information on what goes into the process. Thank you for all the hard work you all are doing.

Nick Smith

This was excellent ! Since the Patreon effort began I have been hoping that we might end up with "Time Team Plus" and that is obviously Tim's vision too. I would support the idea of fewer sites but a broader portfolio of content being produced. I was always a fan of the programme but often wondered how frustrating it was for the whole production team to shoehorn the output into a fixed length TV programme and with somewhat of a "formula" each time. As someone else said, I often wonder if the old material could be re-packaged into a longer form perhaps ? Anyway - exciting stuff - onward and upward !

Richard Stedall

I love the idea of extra video material looking at specific aspects of a site for those who want to know more. I'm a huge fan of the short videos that were done with where Tim chatted to Mick about certain topics - 5-10 mins long - that gave fantastic background information about why this was like that and so on.

Terri

Yes, me too. The building of the show and shifting logistic is wonderful.

Freda Bradley

As one who would never see a Channel 4 broadcast if they controlled it, I'm 1000% for doing it on YouTube as planned. That said, though, the rationale of the extra documentation/data/conversations is also much appreciated. As history college faculty, I am always on the hunt for really good material that puts STEM into historical events and historical studies/presentations or ways to "showcase" history and historical events and skills (like cooking, or pot making). Time Team fills a gap that is otherwise unfilled. So, if you want my vote---DO YOU THING! It does seem like the right path and it followed the evolution of information delivery that just wasn't possible in the original series, too. <3

Terri

I'm on the hunt now to know more about the evolving field of archaeology and the new technologies. I'm blown away at the demonstration of the 3D depth studies and the future of virtual site studies. Definitely want to branch out that direction and augment my current career in film/tv (30 years). The future calls and we'll bring along new understanding of the past - who could ask for more? Thank to you, Time Team. BTW Tim - might want to consider a title addition "Time Team Unleashed". So exciting!!!

Emma R

Everyone involved in this video just made me so happy, THANK YOU! The patron producers are amazing, thank you for asking almost exactly the questions I would have done, and the idea of fewer episodes, but a kind of "library" or extra content on the side is like a dream come true. Can not wait for part 2 and the impromptu site wrestle!

Eric Greenwald

I’m a bit concerned of whether 2 episodes make a season. If we’re doing episodes on more then just the digging on YouTube as opposed to a tv program, maybe you could do the fogue and long barrow because I don’t think you’d be as pressed to fill a full hour if you don’t have it.

Yvonne Docketty

We used to watch Time Team once in awhile when it was aired on TV, and it was only that my son happened to come across Time Team on Youtube and was enthusing about it and re-sparked my interest so hence I have joined as a Patron. I have loved all the extra material you have been putting out. It is so interesting hearing and seeing all the information and ideas being bandied about. Looking forward so much to Part 2..

widget brittle

So exciting to hear that your plan is to include more details than could have originally fit in the original format. I always loved the show as is, but would always have loved to hear more. I can't wait!

JIm ford

Yep nice to get a insite into the direction timeteam is going to be on YouTube etc and more background information leading to more volgs etc and look forward to part 2great stuff

Some of my favourite Time Team episodes were further afield, such as Isle of Mull and Antrim. However, I am very excited about the options being put forward, to get things going again! I am an avid genealogist and history enthusiast. I have Helen’s outlook and love a good mystery. The sites that pique my interest have more question than backstory, although I understand that there is more risk associated with that. I am also very interested in what new details might emerge using today’s technology, and returning to a previous excavation. Also, although I appreciated the focus that was achieved with the 3 day model, I was always left wondering what could have been uncovered with a bit more time. The “Time Team Unleashed” model gives that flexibility, and I am looking forward to it!

Caroline Borduin

Many people have touched on this, but as time goes on, anything new that is learned about a Time Team site can be added to the virtual site. I'd love to hear updates on the past Time Team sites and am sure I'll feel the same way about these new ones.

Trish Murphy

Oh, that’s a tease. I was excited to watch the site wrestle. Hopefully you’ll post it soon.

heith Doty

Damit. Hmmmm . Well , I have watched countless TT shows and wondered in every one just how much work did go in and learned as shows when in but the behind the scenes things and hopes to see the cam just turn and get a shot of Tim chating with Mick /Phil/Tony or John trying to tell time this place is rubbish or wow Tim look at this . And then think , 🤔 wow, I can't wait to see if these guys will ever come back and redo a site with " new " gear / technology like Mull . And 3 other sites that John found tons of other interesting targets/ settlements . Then be sad that it was over and to know nothing more. So this is great if you guys do make a 4 day to a month to do a site . I'm so glad I can help this and watch the membership number go from 150 ppl helping to almost 5k . Thank you Tim

Lewis Buckingham

While watching this discussion, I was incredibly excited by the prospect of seeing more of what happens behind the scenes in Time Team, and of learning more about the history and the process, but I was also struck by a sudden concern: Will I never again enjoy the journey as Time Team struggle to make sense of a site? As a Patreon Supporter have I stepped across the veil and entered a place where I won't be surprised or excited by the twists and turns of a dig? Will there be an element that is held back from us so that we can watch a final product with excitement, or are we now all in the wings watching the magic, and knowing how the trick is done?

Laura Soto-Barra

I loved it! loved it! loved it! I had the same questions; thank you. Tim, you ask for feedback: in front of recent racial reckoning in the US and in England, Time Team needs to add elements of diversity, equity and inclusion, DEI. Are you considering archeologists, scholars, and scientists of color in the team? Thank you.

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Laura, thanks for the comment. In short, the answer is yes. Diversity is an extremely important point that we 're taking very seriously at Time Team, and we'll be talking about this more as we bring the team together in the weeks ahead.

Mark Lund

I'm just greedy. I absolutely support the idea of more pre dig info. with a 'programme'/video covering this, the dig/investigation programme, and a follow up, or maybe more than one follow up when more research comes to light. But also, I would feel hard done by if there were only 2 a season. I'm sure that is not the ambition, but you cannot do enough of these in my opinion...except, as Tim says, it may become too much for the producers and much of the free time given. More funding needed clearly.

Ann H

Doggerland related shows were fantastic. The scientific analysis by UCL on sea rise has convinced several I shared those shows with that global change can be fast and is real.

Sarah Copeland

This chat was amazing to watch, loved the Canadian representation (much love from British Columbia). I'm very excited for TT Unleashed! The sadness of fewer digs is far outweighed by the prospect of much more in depth information that in house production can offer. I'm looking forward to parallel filming of interviews, interactive content and all other possibilities that can accompany the actual digging.

Kathryn

I LOVE the prospect of more background information, and the “library” of additional tidbits for those who want to know more. For someone like me, who is not in the UK, all of that can help put things into better context historically and add more flavor from a “people” and culture perspective. For instance, today I finally looked up “Ridge and Furrow” and now understand the historical agriculture much better.

Mark Lund

I like the idea suggested by Tim at the ned..a potential library of different links for the sites exploring certain aspects of items or subjects related to the site.

David Bond

take a look at Time Signs, 1991 (30 year ago, for G-dssake!)

Paul Brekke

When watching old Time Team episodes, I have often wondered about the destiny of both the sites and the finds. I know that some (several?) TT sites have turned into long-lasting digs, and I would love to see more follow up on those. Also, it would be nice to see where some of the nice finds end up, how they're analysed in detail. Both of these things, just like the commentary by Sam that was mentioned, would be great "bonus material" to TT episodes, in my opinion.

Jon Colcord

I do wonder if the fact there will be fewer shows will make it more likely that some of the old hands may at least pop into the pub!

fred

I would also love some "where are they now?" followup episodes/specials on some of the sites from over the years

Kathleen Garza

I'm finally trying to catch up but it says the link to this video doesn't work. Anyone else having the same problem?

Sue Oldham

I've just watched it and it's fine

Kathleen Garza

Thank you Sue :). I put in a ticket to Vimeo Support. TT posted "Missing Videos" and said it's happening to a few people on their phones. I can watch it on a computer but not my phone

Jill Hobbs

Elizabeth really summed up my thinking when she referred to the 1 hour programmes as Time Team in a bottle, and discussed the advantages of all the before and after material. I always wanted to know what had gone before, and after. I am really excited about the concept of different aspects to dip into.

Christopher Ledger

I think this new concept is great and agree that by delving deeper and broader on each site you will draw more people in and by encouraging responses from outside and more interactivity you will certainly succeed. I am hugely looking forward to it.
