Here's environmental archaeologist Naomi Sewpaul in the hot-seat for the Spoil Heap on Day Two. For this next session, we've tried out a new location – the fogou!

We're also currently uploading a Site Walkabout for Day Three and we have some very interesting archaeological developments in the various trenches...

You guys are doing a great job. Looking forward to all the little stories coming out. Sound was much better out of the wind. Maybe a few personal wearable mics for you guys and either the same for the interviewee or a decent hand-held with wind baffling.

Anne Collinson

This was great and loved hearing what Naomi is doing. Sound was much better too.!

LM

Very nice wrap-up, thank you. I suggest you try to improve the sound further. Wearable microphones are not expensive / complicated these days.

Mac Whatley

Derek and Laurence you’re doing a great job. I hope your stuff also figures in the final program and is not left entirely on the spoil heap! But I had a question from the first day. Matt was waving around his “father’s shovel.”It looked like Phil‘s old shovel. What’s the story there?

Philip Stack

The 'Career in Ruins Does Time Team' mash-up is really working well (when you are out of the wind). You are doing well to get these edited and uploaded so quickly. Don't hesitate to up the technical content. Thanks to you all.

Michael Lyons

I like these sit down talk about how the dig is going, their general impressions on the dig are great. Get some wireless/Bluetooth mics to improve sound quality.

Andy H

Certainly not Phil's shovel, not worn down enough

Lynn Edwards

Thank you, Naomi! Yes, I, at least, want to know all the little stories as well as the overarching story that becomes the programme. Thank you two gents, as well. Your work is much appreciated.

Richard Linley

Love this so much I just bumped my Patreon subscription up a level.

Ann Wagner

So great having an interview in a fogou! And great to hear from Naomi. She brings up a good point about how her duties have changed since the original shows. Who is keeping the same job as before and who has a new role?

TimeTeamOfficial

Thanks Lukas, we are are and we've got a nice piece on the way shortly – watch this space!

Jude Edling

Interview in the Fogou, what a brilliant title. It so lovely to see Naomi and I can't wait to see her "excavation by water". It has to be easier than on the body than panning in a cold stream. I'm loving every bit of this but sad that it's now Day 3.

Mechanical Muse

This is wonderful. I feel like I've snuck into the site to watch everything first hand. I'd love to learn more about what the old gang is doing today outside of this program, where they've focused their expertise over the past few years, and how they hope to leverage those skills as part of these new episodes.

Martha Berryman

Complainers re Sound: Enhance audio by using the CC Button! Amazing what you can HEAR when you simultaneously SEE / READ it in print.!

Larissa Spiker

Terrific interview. I love their energy and enthusiasm.

Warren Feldman MD

I would love to see how the final story is put together out of all the information and films.

Richard Barnes

Loving these interviews. L&D you’re doing a terrific job at being our interface into the dig… also love the idea that you’ll continue to drip feed info over the coming weeks! Thank you all!

Jon Colcord

These videos are great. Keep them coming! I’m sure there are some clips that could even be saved until after the episodes air? It’s nice to see the faces keep popping up. We still haven’t spied Carenza, but I know I saw a post with her about to board a train to make the long trip to the site. Coming soon?

Amy Roos

Sound is so much better - thank you!!

Freda Bradley

Love Naomi! She's so incredibly smart and can put so much into perspective so well for those of us who don't do what she does--excavation with water is a prime example. These interviews are wonderful.

Trish Murphy

Thanks for asking my question ✌️💚

Hunt

Nice to see Naomi again, and great idea to use the Fogou - sound was much better. Would be really interested in seeing the flotation device and more detail on the environmental findings.

Robert Wise

Naomi does a good job of taking a step back to see a wider view, and adds that depth to the whole story. Question Why focus on only one thread of a site’s multiple stories?

Hunt

Good question. Must be so exciting.

JUDITH COOKE

Watching an interview with Naomi in a fogou is not something I would say every day! This does seem a b it surreal, but fantastic. Great to hear about Naomi’s activity and looking forward to seeing the results. Thanks very much, Derek and Lawrence, you are adding an important dimension to the proceedings.

Murray M Wagnon

Excellent interview. Thank you for this insight.

David Hazel

I agree with the comments about these Q&A sessions adding a lot to this way of doing Time Team, and that it does feel as if we are on site with the archaeologists. I've also been interested to see some of the 3D photogrammetry that has come out.

Peggy Layne

Love these work in progress videos!

Martin Packer

Loved the Siri interruption. :-) I get those all the time on conference calls - from MY watch.

Cheryl Kurucz

Excellent questions from the Patreon’s! And wonderful answers from the time team crew! I’m excited to see what Naomi finds in the soil samples show!

Donna Oglesby

may sound a bit stupid to ask, but is there a way to date the soil?? and exactly how is that done?

David de Groot

Great interview lads. Naomi's tech sounds very exciting.

Rowland Willets

Very good interview. Shame the camera perspective makes Naomi look tiny.

Kathryn

How cool to be “inside” the fogou! Thank you for a great interview!

Deborah Hide-Bayne

Kia ora from New Zealand! Loving the Spoil Heap conversations and seeing the finds on Sketchfab - how wonderful to know there is a new Time Team to look forward to as well!

Laura Soto-Barra

This is great, you are in the fogou!! Great to meet Naomi Sewpaul!

Elizabeth Nickless

So excited to see the behind scenes and know that the digs are on now almost in realtime, watching here from New Zealand. I have watched everytime team episode many times over as I love them all. And can't wait to see everything related to the digs. Am looking forward to Naomi's reports on what they found in the soil and if it sheds light on what the fogous were used for. And Tim mentioned the neolithic even... am looking forward to the final cut.

Ian Hosken

What is it like not having Phil there?

Steve Atkins

Lot of Kiwis watching this thread. Covid has sadly scuttled any opportunity to get closer to the action but these videos from Derek and Lawrence are helping to put us in the trench ... Thanks

Fern Wilcox

Well done you four (don't want to leave out the camera person!) and I am looking forward to the questions Naomi and her team will be able to answer. QUESTION for Naomi: What questions did you get answers to, and were there any surprise finds as a result of your wet "dig"? And a fougou! I loved it! Thanks and cheers from Minnesota.

Doug Mackey

Brilliant choice of questions, gentlemen. The enthusiasm of us Patreon folks and that of those on-site has reached critical mass! Thank you!

Stannous Flouride

Why aren't you posting things in chronological order? I saved up to watch them all on my first day off and I would like to see them in order but you posted Day 3 stuff before you posted Day 2 stuff and the list on the right is no help since it only shows six posts.

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Stannous, we posted in chronological during the the three days itself, and now the dust has settled, we're sharing some additional clips from various moments across the weekend. We hope you enjoy them.

Rachelle Gates

Thank you for the wonderful interviews. Can’t wait for more.

Lady of the Leaves

I’m jazzed with the excitement of the Team. The hosts are first rate, and I see big things in store for the future of science driven, popular archaeology. Learning has been made accessible and FUN for us all. THANK YOU TIME TEAM!

Cassista

I really would love (lovelovelove) a video walkthrough of the soil archaeology with Naomi. Can we have more of that? Please and thank you.
