Ros Haywood

Has to be "Sam Spade" LOL - and he could be followed by "Trevor the Trowel"

Steve Mikre

Love interviews with Matt Williams...

Ann Wagner

So you didn’t schedule your two digs too close together, did you?

Peter Lee

I love these 2 guys. They are so likeable. I hope to see more and more of them and already see them as TT family.

Beth Ford

These videos appearing in my email make my day. Really appreciate the opportunity to see things as they unfold. Sound quality is much better this time too.

Kathryn

Love, love LOVE this! So exciting to just to ramble around with you guys. You are making my Friday at work so much more exciting than usual! :-D

Matthew Adams

Really interesting to see how much more confident and relaxed everyone is! Will that continue into day 2..?

Richard Yoast

These discussions show how both scientific interests mesh with the very human desire to see something unusual or beautiful or eye catching like a mosaic. While the science perspective is extremely important, most people when they visit a site or see finds want to see something rather than just read about the science. Imagine what it would be like to know that something is there (e.g., before Pompeii was uncovered) but not to see it versus the way in which uncovered finds draw public discussion, visits and funds.

Fern Wilcox

And as expected, somewhat mysteriously informative, nonetheless exciting! Yes, do leave us thirsting for more! Dig on! Cheers from Minnesota

Jason Barnsley

Is Guy going to to make an appearance as the Roman Expert?

Warren Feldman MD

Do you ever find out why these structures were abandoned?

Paul Garner

That was really interesting, More of these please. Derek and Clive...sorry Lawrence are great.

Trish Murphy

Rusty is still my pick for naming Matt’s shovel. Hope it makes the short list

Mica McPheeters

Loved this!! Thanks, guys! Posting a site walkabout as our first vid was a great move — feels more like being synced in real time, as in all discovering/getting a feel for the site at the same time as everyone there.

Mechanical Muse

Just want to reiterate how much I'm loving these videos. The guys are doing a great job as our backstage hosts!

Mica McPheeters

(And I got a kick out of the fun, slightly sneaky-feeling peek into the dome to tease us with the touchscreen tv.)

Pat Szastkiw

Obviously, Matt’s spade should be called “Phil.”

Simon Orchard

Getting better and better these dig watch videos

Martha Berryman

No, no! Not our Latinus-wrangling Phil! Matt's grand-pere is the honorific here! EN: "blessed with a sharp man!" Matt's shovel is "Mine grandfather's happy sharp digger!": in LATIN---"Meus avus suus beatus acuto homine!" OR "benedictus cum a acuta palam" OR perhaps "BEATUS HOMINE" for short?? Tell us about your grandfather Matt!

Cheryl Kurucz

Excellent day one interviews! Thank you once again!

Erica Griffith

I love seeing the tech advances. I’ve been binge watching the old episodes and seeing the advances from then national now is just amazing. Matt is delightful with his enthusiasm. The two from Cotswold Archeology were lovely. Derek and Lawrence you are awesome hosts, thank you. Time team dog rules.

Lacy Oden

I’d love to hear more about how you are using GIS there. I did a bunch of GIS when I was in school and see how it could be extremely valuable for data analysis there! Great Dig Watch!

Jen A

This was my favourite footage to date! It’s the next best thing to being there. Thank you!

Mica McPheeters

+1 Time Team dog! ❤️ One of my favorite TT moments is that dog they had to "excavate" in Islip (go to 8:50)

JUDITH COOKE

Very enjoyable to wander around the site, hear Matt’s list of questions to be answered, see some of the new tech, get an idea of the finds in the field, then peer over Carenza’s shoulder while she identified some in someone’s hand. Also to have a few laughs with the local archaeologists. A most interesting tour. Thanks Derek and Lawrence.

David Boon

Loving the natural approach that the two of you bring to these tours and the fact you have a quick turnaround time to get them up, which makes you feel like we are there looking over your shoulders. Having discovered Career in Ruins just a few months ago I am so pleased they have involved you in their digs. Either there is less wind or you are also improving the audio😁

Eggs Ackley

Maybe “Rustcaliber”🗡

Eggs Ackley

Hope to learn the TT dog’s name.

Erica Griffith

I actually saw the answer to that on another video with Derek and Lawrence but I can’t find it. I will link it when I do. Maybe it was over on Insta or Twitter.

Erica Griffith

“Oscar The Ham Hound” is Pete’s dog from a post on Instagram

Melody Jane

Didn't Phil once insult Matt's trowel in Old English, calling it "blunt"? (Am I remembering that correctly?) I loved the little teasers in this, it was fun to try and squint at the touch screen in the background, and to hear the list of optimistically named trenches,

Zoe Propper

Thanks guys. A little sneak preview for the weekend.

Jonathan Eisen

That big screen with the geophys results is such a step up from the old printouts and John pointing out features with his car key.

Annabelle

Yes! I think the spade needs to be called Douglas (short for “dug less than Phil’s”) 😆

Seda Mcclurg

I love the judging of size of the site by the number of porta-loo's :) outstanding to be a patron for this and getting to see these behind the scenes views!! Thank you!
