Good morning everyone! It's Day 3, and let's kick off with another model of the castle, this time a wider view showing the moat.

View model here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/broughton-castle-moat-txt-0926fbb581b142abbd6767b098eed44d

Lots more to come soon from the trenches, activity around the site, more interviews and our scribing session with graphic artist Neil, so please watch this space...

So the moat: are we seeing the ‘bed’ of the moat?

Zoe Propper

Love these 3d models. There is a fun trick of the light in one of the windows which looks like a face to me 😂

Anthony cotton

So what is the scale of the castle compared to the villa? Are they similar in size?

JUDITH COOKE

Lovely image. Looking forward to another exciting, action-packed day.

I'm finding I can't get these models into SketchFab on iOS. I'm technically at the "very proficient" end of the scale - so any tips? I also find they tend to reload on the web if I adjust the viewing angle and then the site cites :-) repeated issues and gives up.

Anybody else look ‘underneath’ the model and go “waayy” when the right image magically appears again? (Maybe just me…!) Also..what’s that bright golden ball behind the tree?!

Chris Siegmann

Not loading on my iPad. I’ll try a different app maybe?

Chris Siegmann

Just downloaded Sketchpad and did a search for the model. No result. I then searched for Time Team and got a result. Great, but then was told no models have been loaded.

Diane E. Englot

This is great! When you flip it, it's like Stranger Things...LOL

Terry Cox

Interesting how the decorative bays at the front of the house are built incorporating large buttresses that seem to be part of an earlier phase. I wonder if these were enlarged when the bays were constructed, or if they were always this big?

Michael Sperry

which direction is the dig site from here?

Ann Wagner

What is the process like to create these? It’s amazing to be able to explore the castle and surroundings. Many thanks to the owners of the castle for sharing it with us!

Kay Theriault

Ooohhhh, even -more- to the 3d model, off to explore....

Paul Isles

It looks like there's a bench under the "gar-de robe" (is that the correct spelling?) Not sure if I'd like that spot.

Dorothy Frank

I must have played with this model for an hour today! I think there's a ghost in one of the windows, by the way.

Jude Edling

That's bloody brilliant!!!

McBrucie

These 3D Models are amazing!

Steve Atkins

Curious how the gatehouse and I presume "stables" are on a different alignment. I know its not in the scope of the dig but would be nice to know...

Tari Nz

I think I see a drone shadow on the wall? Maybe I am hallucinating. This is VERY cool.

Julialynne

All the new toys! Wow!
