It's been another busy day in Oxfordshire for Time Team. Derek and Lawrence have been off filming at the castle, but there's been plenty going on at the villa site too, with many trenches now opened up, and finds cropping up all over the place. In fact, when they returned for our Site Walkabout, we discovered a rather special find of our own!

Tantalising, would love to see some geophysics, definitely not enough of jon gater on these videos

Jennifer Griffin

Tim Taylor, all of our thanks goes to you, sir! As much as I already loved Time Team, this platform has pushed the experience beyond expectations. All of the extra video chats and 3-D models have been superb! Please keep up the hard work...we'll keep supporting you!!

Sarah Holloway

It’s been a great day and this is very exciting seeing what has been discovered .

Martha Berryman

Alas, growing weary of Derek and Lawrence enthusiastic, teasing Boosterism. Longing, wishing for intimate scholarly quality of Sir Tony, or even the new Gus?

Mechanical Muse

Love Derek and Lawrence serving as our on-site surrogates! Thanks for running around and letting us tag along. And thanks for showing us a few teases. It's fun to get even a hint of what you're finding. I'd love to see even more site overviews, showing us where trenches are, talking about where the heavy activity is. I wonder if there is a way to do this without spoilers! Just a bit more big picture view of everything going on.

deborah

I have to disagree with Martha Berryman. I found Tony's manic energy and faux perplexity exhausting, and much prefer having professional archaeologists Derek and Lawrence as interlocutors. Similarly impressed by what I saw of the new presenters, Gus and Natalie. It's got to be so hard simultaneously to please an audience loyal to what we've known, while building a new one. I think Time Team is doing an outstanding job all around with that.

Robert Wise

Best yet, and really good to see Tim! Yes Tim! … Get Derek and Lawrence busy with shovels … and trowels! No humorous-ish tension yet? Well, there are the hints and teases of course. Sir Tony managed to stir up a bit now and then… it does add to the show. I’m loving and hating being kept in the dark!

Roger Mills

These are getting better all the the time - and when you think about it at this length they are equivalent to 20% of the running time of a finished programme. Top value given to supporters I think.

Jon Colcord

I believe I spotted Neil Holbrook back there! Also, have we been properly introduced to the new ginger digger yet? Great to see some fresh young diggers enthusiastically scraping away!

Fern Wilcox

well done all! Once again you have surpassed my expectations and it is a treat to be With Derek and Lawrence as they give us tantalizing tidbits. It is great to meet the 'hardworking ,"everyday" (and I mean that in the best sense) diggers working their trowels off and giving them the video exposure. I enjoy that these videos are not highly produced. I appreciate that Derek and Lawrence share their genuine excitement as they pick up a piece of pot, look at a ditch, etc. Thanks Time Taylor and ALL the team members for doing a superb job! Cheers from Minnesota

Yvette Hoitink

Great to get some actual sneak peeks instead of just teasers. Can't wait to see what you'll find on day 3!

Ann Wagner

Ooo! Great tray of finds! Looking forward eagerly to the final product. One more day. Hope you have good weather and great results! Love from Ann, Maggie, and Katie in the USA. You guys are a great joy in very tough times.

Richard Linley

I'm going to disagree with both Martha Berryman and deborah. I thoroughly enjoyed Sir Tony's Time Team and I'm thoroughly enjoying Derek and Lawrence. All the best from Kingston, Ontario.

Bron Lloyd

Loving Derek and Lawrence’s presentations and loving the whole thing! Thanks Tim for everything - if not for you…..also, I love your pelargoniums :)

Bron Lloyd

Technical question - why is everyone wearing lanyards with no passes attached? Asking for a friend.

Stuart Coomber

Just like being there :) any chance of a rough plan to orientate the trenches?

Donna Oglesby

The Bikes DO make it a bit more easier to get around, and OMG Love the piece of Roman pot SOMEONE found:-) Talking to Tim was awesome as well, and all the small tiles that have been coming out along with other pieces as well..

Robert Boudreau

Not too worried about pulling it all together Tim, saw Neil Holbrook there in the background. If anyone can pull it together and make sense of it all, it's Neil. The Team with Neil at the helm, the dig's in good hands.

JUDITH COOKE

So much more enjoyable to be allowed to look into trenches, see the finds in the tray, hear about some of the highlights of the day and get an idea of what’s being discovered so we can participate in the discussion. Thanks to everyone for their contributions and hard work. This is classic Time Team, I can’t get enough of it. I am just so delighted to be here.

Kay Theriault

Sneak peaks and teasers, oh my! Good to see Niel Holbrook and I can't wait to see what all TT digs up this time! :D

Mac Whatley

I was glad to hear from Tim at the end; his measured avuncular tone while explaining the finds was a welcome reminder of Mick, I like Derek and Lawrence and what they’re giving us at home. But I also would like to see them in a trench of their own.

Meredith Neal Pickerel

Thank you for so many lovely videos! We’re grooving on these two digs!! Thank you!

David Boon

Best yet. Great to see some of the finds. Is it really a walkabout when part of the journey is on powered bicycles? 😀

Eggs Ackley

I remember decades ago having a conversation about the U.S.A. converting to the metric system. My friend lamented how hard it would be to continually envision measurement comparisons. I said, “don’t”.

Cheryl Kurucz

I’m so excited to see the completed Dig!!!

James Mason

I'm really enjoying the walkabouts and interviews. I would love to hear from Carenza regarding her role on this dig.

TimeTeamOfficial

Yes, you dig spot Neil Holbrook, and we'll be collaring him later for a Q&A, so keep a look out for that soon!

TimeTeamOfficial

We've got a nice interview with Carenza filmed on Day One coming shortly.

Zoe Propper

One of my favourite site walkabouts yet. Thank you Derek and Lawrence. And thank you Tim! Having Time Team back has brightened this time we are all living through so much for me.

Richard Moss

Fantastic stuff. Looks really exciting. Thanks Derek, Lawrence and team.

Dave Seddon

Bike breaks or bike brakes

Dale Wilson

Thanks guys, looking forward to the finished product

Keith Jones

Sorry TT, I;m finding it hard to chime in with all the gushing praise above - rather underwhelming DIg 2 so far; not really been shown anything and get the distinct impression not much going on.

Keith Jones

Where is everyone and what are they doing?

Alex Schultz

I really love the updates as it goes along and the direct to camera there was lovely :D

Alex Schultz

yes exactly what we need for the fan view... the full episode will be different but this is really perfect for real time and right now!

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Keith, we filmed a huge amount over the weekend for Dig Watch and we can only deliver a small amount of that in real-time in the field. Over the next week, we have more interviews and insights from various members of the team, on and off camera, as well as behind the scenes filming from Day Two at the castle. We look forward to sharing more with you in the days and weeks ahead.

Andy H

Is that Neil Holbrook in the bacground?

Jude Edling

I'm just catching up after spending time with a new grandbaby. Love this walkabout! Thank you!

John Atkinson

Maybe you could explain in more detail how tesserae were made? The manufacturing process must have been quite labour intensive. Were they made locally or imported?

Linda-Teresa Merwood

Same difference as spending a penny in a public loo that now costs 20p!

Veteran(Russian Ling)-Truck driver-Engineer-Attorney

I love reading comments. I am catching up from entering hospital with COVID on July 2nd. I was on ventilator for 10 days. when I came to, I learned that blood clots had destroyed my left foot. I had amputation done and then 3 revision surgeries, the last on October 5th. However, the first thing I wanted to do was see my new grandson, born on July 2nd, the same day I entered the hospital. The next thing was to catch up on Time Team's new dig and videos.

Alan Murdock

It took an hour, but I am fairly happy with myself that I found the location of the dig site on google satellite from 4276.9 miles away.
