Dear everyone,

In light of yesterday’s sad news, after a period of reflection and consultation with the team, we have decided to go ahead with the first Time Team shoot, in a respectful way, with the main episode to be released as planned next Spring.

Out of respect, we are reviewing the release schedule of our ‘as live’ Dig Watch coverage.

Rest assured, we will produce a range of unique insights into the archaeology and production process, as well as answering your questions, which we look forward to sharing with you soon, at an appropriate time.

We understand how important Time Team is to you and how much you have personally invested in the process with us.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time and we can’t wait to share our discoveries with you in due course.

Best wishes from Tim, Emily and all the team.

A respectful decision.

Nameri Verdstela

HM was very much the epitome of “keep calm and carry on” and I’m sure she would want the science of archaeology to go ahead in the circumstances.

Jude Edling

My heart felt condolences on the passing of your gracious Queen Elizabeth II. We are all Queenists.

stuart sutcliffe

Thank you Time Team for your respect in this time of mourning

Stephanie Stewart

Queen Elizabeth was the world's queen. Perhaps those older of us know how important this woman was. I may be an American but have been not so quietly crying my eyes out since yesterday and listing to the MPs giving tributes. God bless your King.

Sandy Quick

Thinking about all of my UK friends at this sad time. We are witness to history, every day. Thank you for all you do to uncover and preserve it.

Mark Vent

I think this is quite proper and support you in and thank your for your decision.

Stephen Southworth

Yes, I think watching light hearted dig watches now might be a little out of kilter with a general spirit of national mourning, but no need to cancel the digs. The problem may be that the programmes might end up looking a bit flat though with personalities not quite as jolly as normal and when shown next year in normal circumstances …. a difficult balance. Good luck everyone!

Ann H

Appropriate thing to do.

David Boon

Quite appropriate response. There are things more important things to consider in these circumstances.

Melissa Rybb

Understood. I hope, however, that you do go ahead with the live dig reports. I remember well that the Queen came out with Prince Phillip at Windsor, was it, to meet Phil and Tony and tell them to start digging. Time Team itself, British archaeology itself, honor the history, and thus the Monarchy.

Michael Schneider

I was thinking as well of the episode at the Royal Palaces; this is an appropriate response and in keeping with the need to "Carry On" but mindful of doing so in a respectful manner. Perhaps a moment of silence on the site that could go live that we could all share in?

James Matney

In Understanding from even her in the States. Just saying how sorry it is to lose a WORLD LIDER of her still. Seam small In the word of the U_K Crake On team

Robert Wise

Hmm, drought, fires, climate morphing into hot, Queen Elizabeth II passing, a new king … not to mention a new Prime Minister? and Time Team soldiers on? … Schedule modifications? Bah! No worries! Looks to me like the team is pulling off another miracle.

Mario Papworth

Elizabeth had a demanding and difficult job for 70 years notwithstanding the personal goings off within Her Family.

Sally Ramey

Condolences from across the pond. The Queen touched many.

Anne

I agree that the digs should not be cancelled, but neither should the live reports, all be it in an amended form. Patreons make their contributions to enable the archeology to happen and to be there with the science as the archeology unfolds. Could we have a little more clarity on what, 'sharing with you soon, at an appropriate time' means. For me the 'appropriate time' is still as the archeology is actually happening.

TimeTeamOfficial

Hi Anne, many thanks for your thoughts and thank you for bearing with us in this unprecedented time. We will provide more clarity on our coverage very soon, and please rest assured that we will have lots of unique insights to share with you. Best wishes from all the team.

My deepest sympathy for the loss of HMTQ. God blessings

ROBERT HALL

It's hard to imagine the Queen, that I cherish in my own, mind objecting to Time Team's indefatigable quest for our British History. Perhaps she might have said something like....Keep Digging....and Carry On. I shall

miss her Christmas Day address so much. It was a special occasion for our whole family here in America. King Charles you have all our support and affection earned by such hard work over the years. God Save the King. Gives you chills just to say it doesn't it?

Michael Taylor

Completely agree, relieved the dig is going ahead, disappointed that we're not getting the live coverage.
