It's time for a bit of Friday fun now as we rewind back once again to our recent dig at the Knights Hospitaller preceptory at Halston Hall in Shropshire.

With the rain we had expected all weekend finally arriving, Derek and Lawrence decamped to the Mick Mobile with field archaeologist, Hilde van der Heul to answer your questions.

I'm picturing Hilda as the Lora Croft of Time Team!!! Most excellent... Has she ever visited the Utrecht boat site?

Great interview. Pineapple with green olives on pizza. The sweet/salty goes great

Lovely to hear from an archaeologist still so committed to fieldwork! It’s not proper archaeology if you haven’t got muddy knees!

Excellent! Thanks to the patrons who asked such good questions & Hilde for her great answers 👍

Wife and I were tipped to try thinly sliced (and patted dry) dill pickles on pizza. Remarkably nice!

Much better than the old time team, a lot more going into these digs, new tech new team and loving the snippets added on like these chats.

Jude Edling

What a treat having Hilde on a Q&A! Thank you.

Huia Matipo

Ham, cheese and pineapple pizza mmmmm 👍

As the archeologists get older how do they deal with kneeling in a trench for a long time

Greg Haley

Hilde's very pragmatic answer to that final, penultimate question told me all I needed to know.

Enjoyed this discussion with Hilde. She is a great addition to the team.

One thing I don't understand is why just 3 days? I can understand when you're digging up someone's back yard they don't want a year long excavation, but in this site, where it's relatively well contained and not immediately next to dwellings, why doesn't there seem to be an ongoing excavation to get as much information as possible? The TT section may be just 3 days, but why doesn't someone else continue with it ... or have TT come back later to see what else has been found?
