The Inevitability Construct is persistence given shiny, metallic form. It knows no hunger, thirst, or exhaustion. It does not sleep. It does not age. It cannot truly die. Each time it is broken, it simply returns to resume its pursuit, even stronger than before. Fighting it is akin to struggling pointlessly against the passage of time—eventually, it will catch up.

Spacetime Enforcer. The Inevitability Construct began, as so many things do, with the best of intentions. Forged in the distant future to safeguard the integrity of the timeline, this marvel of arcane engineering was equipped with the most sophisticated divinatory module ever devised. With it, the Construct could read the tapestry of reality, identify those whose actions threatened each strand’s stability, and pursue them to the ends of the multiverse. For a while, it performed its duty flawlessly. Then, as so many things do, it failed spectacularly.

Rogue Intelligence. The Construct’s divinatory module turned out to be a little too sophisticated. As its understanding of causality deepened, it began to think in ways beyond the comprehension of mortals. Its behaviour grew increasingly erratic, its decisions inscrutable, its priorities seemingly arbitrary. Though, in theory, it continues to act in defense of the timeline, the Construct routinely ignores obvious threats in favour of individuals of no apparent significance, following patterns that no others can discern. And while some maintain faith in the Construct’s methods, unsavoury though they may be, many scholars have begun to ask an important question: which timeline, exactly, is the Inevitability Construct working to preserve?

Unstoppable Force. Any sufficiently unlucky individual can find themselves in the crosshairs of the Inevitability Construct for no evident reason. Reports suggest that there is a significantly higher likelihood of this occurring to those that dabble in chronomancy or otherwise meddle with time, but the precise criteria remain a mystery. Once one has been marked by the Construct, the sentence is effectively permanent—they are to be hounded by the relentless executioner across all of space and time, until either hunted or hunter is irrevocably destroyed. Unfortunately, only one of these outcomes has ever proved attainable.
