While the film is controversial for many reasons, it can't be denied that the costumes designed by Jacqueline Durran are gorgeous! In the film Isabella makes a doll of Cathy- with her actual hair- and I thought it would be fun to make a paper doll inspired by that! Using a simple style also allowed me to create more outfits since I wasn't held to making them screen accurate but capturing the essence.
