Audio Guff returns back again! Here's a long ol' chat with Dudley of Yesterzine, where we natter on about old gaming mags and how important they were to us back in the day. Dudley runs the excellent Yesterzine YouTube channel which you can find by clicking this very text!

Attached are 3 pics which are referred to in the podcast.

(Also! Context note: Many moons ago on the livestreams I looked at the final issues of various old magazines. Not sure if that's clear in the podcast so saying it here just in case.)

I was discussing something like this the other day with a friend. I've been in the process of scanning and digitalizing my zine collection. (I say "zines" as in independently distributed xeroxed magazines which is the main ones I focused on collecting pertaining to film, comics and music. ) As we were going through some of my collection, we had a discussion on how interesting they are and how a lot of the bands, filmmakers, and artists could be lost if there wasn't word of them in some of these publications. I think magazines are sometimes overlooked as valuable pieces of past media. They were so important if you had an interest anything that was outside of the mainstream. They were the only way to get the information you were seeking at one point, and were the only way you could send away for such niche things, and also they gave a place where independant artists can have a place to showcase their work. Sometimes these zines were works of xerographic art in themselves as they were cleverly and entertainingly laid out with hand written articles, artwork and photography. Hopefully more and more people can get on board with preserving these things. You never know who may find them useful in the future. Things like music, art, film and gaming is always going to have people wanting to know the history of their interests, and are eager to discover something new from the past. Going through the ones I have, they are always a great reference point for me to find information and try to track down some new old band or film.

Oh nice! Didn't realise Dudley was on your radar. Looking forward to giving this one a listen tomorrow! 🙂

Lovely! Whenever it gets to 30:36 it stops though. You'd love to find out about Interphase, apparently! So would I!

That's weird - it's working fine on everything I can try it on. Nobody else has mentioned any problems either. Possibly you are under some kind of voodoo curse?

WhatHoSnorkers

I reckon so! I moved to my main PC and it's fine! Very odd.

I should report that I've also run into some playback issues around 30 minutes in - started skipping for no apparent reason. Pausing and pressing play again seems to have fixed it.

Oh, there's a download button! I'll just play it in VLC 😅
