Plague Tyrant (Patreon)

This painting started as a speedpainting. I wanted to play with the contrast of the white horse against the dark background. And at the same time I wanted to show the rider dark in front of a bright background. That was the baseline for me to start the process.

I decided that with a hard edge cutting through the image dividing the composition into the two parts with black and white it would be the easiest way for me to make the two worlds work together. At the same time I established a nice stylised base on which I could go forward.

In the end I really liked the idea and the painting felt really good while doing it so I spent a bit more time on it. I ended up with around 2,5 hours of work.

It is still quite rough here and there and I can imagine that I will take this an push it further at some point.

But for now I really enjoy the roughness and the life that comes with it. What do you think?
