Nachthunger 18 | Sketches and Inspiration (Patreon)

Today I went to the cafe to sketch a bit for the new Nachthunger Verse. As you probably already realised the last update was a while ago. I really had a hard time to get the right vision for this one. And it made me realise what this Project is for me. I always used Nachthunger for experiments. New ways of painting I had not yet explored. This was so much fun and made me grow in many ways. Not being bound to anything, no deadline, no client, no brief and no expectations.

That somehow changed after I made it a more regular thing. I tried to push out a new painting every week. That worked well for a while but with this last piece I lacked inspiration. So I decided to take a step back again and break the "a painting a week" cycle. That was a good decision. Especially for our personal projects we have to follow our guts. Otherwise it will loose it's life and essence.

So with this new sketch I think I am on the right track!

It is important for me to share with you that not every piece I start is something that works out right away. There is failure, trial and error. That can be frustrating but if we have the luxury of time, which we have in our personal work, we should calmly search for inspiration and as soon as the muse kisses we rock on!
