That was a decent film. I'm sure you found the same information that I did about its meaning. I think what it needed, from my perspective, was a little more information about the Mayan demon thing in the box. I get that the main focus was the exploitation of immigrants through the lens of Ambar so the demon was just a vehicle. I just have a lot of questions about the demon. Where did it come from? What was its deal? Why did it look like that? 🤪 PS- I recognized the actor who played Red immediately from being on Ozark, so if you watched that show you may have known him from that. He played Ruth's uncle. According to his IMDb page he was also on 3 episodes of the new version of Dexter and since I know that show had your queen SMG in it, maybe you recognize him from that. 🤷‍♀️

Impeccable timing I'm on a 12 hour shift today and this is a much needed distraction. T-T

Okay just finished, I really like the way it was shot and the set design of the house I think that alone bumped it up more for me rating wise. Thought the creature demon/god design was super cool, but would've been amazing if it had been props instead of CGI (though the CGI wasn't bad besides when Petra got tossed over the railing). I liked how the moths kinda hinted at the thing's power throughout the film, also how big of a creature can it bring back from death? Cause humans get healed but moths get completely resurrected? While I am tired of the whole facing/killing your problems mentally trope, I was less irritated in this case only because it seemed the monster could only eat you if you were completely under it's thrall or something. I think it could've been stronger story-wise, it felt a little empty towards then end. I would give it a 5/10 for story but a 7.5/10 for aesthetic and atmosphere.

Yeah it was definitely shot very well. This movie just needed like 20% more of SOMETHING. idk what exactly but SOMETHING.
