"Ten-year-old Aurora asks a hit man to kill the monster she believes ate her entire family. To protect her, he'll need to battle an onslaught of assassins while accepting the fact that some monsters are real."

Hannibal is no longer the thing hiding under your bed. Now he fights the thing hiding under your bed.

The perfect thing to get me through my Friday shift 🥳

First of all, thank you for pronouncing Mads' first name correctly. Kudos to you. Most people don't. I am so glad that you enjoyed this movie. I loved it! Which was good since I drove my ass one hour and 20 minutes away just to see it in theaters when it was released in December (closest theater I could find showing it). I couldn't pass up the chance to see a Bryan Fuller/Mads Mikkelsen collab on the big screen. I also watched a ton of interviews with Bryan Fuller and Mads Mikkelsen when this first came out and Fuller talked a lot about what things 'meant' and themes etc. You could do a deep dive if you wanted. As to your comment about whether or not Hannibal was Mads big introduction to US audiences- I would say partially. He has been huge in Europe- especially Denmark- for years. His first really big film role in the US was Casino Royale. He played the villain in Daniel Craig's first Bond movie. That was 2006. Hannibal was 2013 and that was his first/only American TV role. He's had smaller roles in lots of big US franchises (Marvel- as you noted- Fantastic Beasts, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, James Bond). I was just thrilled to see him in a leading role in this movie. You should definitely check out some of his European work. Riders of Justice, The Hunt (fair warning- this is an amazing performance in a really challenging film; very dark subject matter), Another Round are all great. Arctic is a smaller US film he did a few years ago that is excellent. Polar (on Netflix) is honestly not a great movie, but worth a watch. Mads half of the film with Vanessa Hudgens is good; the parts that focus on the villains... not so much. It's a guilty pleasure film. And bonus points because you get to see his bare butt multiple times. 🤪

Oh and just because my other comment wasn't long enough-😉- The whole thing with Aurora's name was added in because Mads was having trouble pronouncing it. He even asked Bryan Fuller to just change the characters name, but Fuller kept it and added in that the neighbor couldn't say Aurora properly. 😃

I tried to get through this movie and it was so slow

I was wondering why I was absolutely loving the style and whimsy of this movie so much until I saw Bryan Fuller did this, that man has line directly to my soul. The aesthetic was peak and the hyper saturation was everything to me. Also all the outfits were such a mood, I NEED that one orange embroidered jacket Mads wore about halfway through.

100% agree on Polar, a good movie? No. A movie with a lot of Mads fanservice? Yes. (And really how can I say no to that?) Also Arctic? Haven't heard of that one, definitely going on my list now!

Lavender Violet

It's really good and Mads is in literally every scene. Almost no dialogue. The entire movie relies on the acting he can do with just his face.

Yes! I think the color palette in this reminds me of a darker version of what he used in Pushing Daisies back in the day.
