In terms of scarlet witch and Phoenix force I can't remember 100% but in a comic scarlet witch did injure the Phoenix force, however she could not completely destroy the Phoenix force entirely. It's really hard to say who would win though since both are multiversal threats that's more powerful than infinity stones. I'm sure someone here knows about it more than me. But yeah pretty sure scarlet witch injured it but can't outright destroy the Phoenix force.

Oh man which side to pick? -That opening scene in X1 when Magneto's parents are being sent to the gas chamber and he bends the fence really opened up my understand on why he hates Humanity with such passion. From the start they have done nothing but take away and hurt him and his people. I would have to side with Eric if I were a mutant because Professor X's love for Humans blinds him to the dangers . Eric dropping Mystique like that was diiirty though.

it's funny, years after this movie, Bobby/Iceman came out as gay in the comics, and in real life Kitty's actor Elliot Page came out as trans. 20 years later they could have been a happy couple! I am 99% sure Jean's costume at the end was based on Scarlet Witch, since in the comics Wanda was Magneto's daughter and one of the original members of the Brotherhood

"I have been marked dear, let me show you. No needle shall ever touch my skin again." That line along with him showing his "mark" is one of the best scenes for a comic book movie antagonist. It makes his motivations understandable while also showing the hypocrisy of his stance. Erik Lehnsherr has that identification mark on his arm because those with power viewed him as nothing more than vermin to be disposed of. Magneto views humanity as vermin and wants to eradicate them from a position of absolute power like those with power wanted to do it to him and his people during WWII.

That Charles end scene wasn't a huge cliffhanger for me, they made it pretty obvious he somehow transferred, there was nothing to wait for except a great next movie. Although, you saying that makes me wonder how many people actually felt that at the time What's up with the frame rate of the movie, was it like that for you watching it or is there a mismatch in the rendering software you're using? I always identified with the mutants more than the humans. And honestly i go back and forth as to whose side I'm on, Eric or Charles. I know the "right" answer is Charles, but damn if Eric don't make sense sometimes. And humans are always proving him right.

It's kinda the same situation with T'challa & Killmonger. 1 wants peace despite all the bad that's happened around him. The other wants his people to go to war under his rule. Eric & Erik are both ruthless, but see themselves as righteous. (There's an Eazy-E joke in there somewhere) Charles & T'Challa are both wise and use their wisdom to lead others who may possibly be stronger than themselves. (Charles kept Jean in check, T'Challa is not as strong as M'Baku)
