So it's not totally explained on how Charles got his body back. We only learn that the post credit scene of The Last Stand that we hear Charles voice greeting Moira, this was the movie saying he transferred his consciousness to the coma patient from earlier in the movie. However even though that was kinda explained on how his consciousness survived, the wolverine movie does not explain how he got his body back. It's supposed to be a "Charles is back but we're not giving you an explanation on how he got his body back, just gotta go with it" type of thing.

In my head canon, Moira created a clone or some sort of clone protocol went into effect if Professor X died.

Though the mid-credits cameo does acknowledge that Wolverine thought Xavier was dead, Xavier only references how he got his body back. In a call back to the first X-Men movie, Xavier tells Wolverine that he's not the only one with gifts. That left the task of explaining Xavier's return to Days of Future Past, which they didn’t do at all and never explained it specifically.

That's not bad, I've seen another reason was the unconscious patient was actually Charles's twin brother, I know he doesn't have a twin bro in the comics but movies are known for creating their own characters. Ultimately tho when it comes to Charles getting his body back with no explanation it was fox studios saying "whatever you believe is how he got his body back" 😂

All these X-Men movies back stories don't make any sense at all even when they try to make come full circle lol. So don't even try to wrap your brain around it bruh. Nice drop though. I seen this movie along time ago, and when his claws grew back I thought it was his metal ones still, and I thought that was tight! Watching this again I'm seeing it's his original claws, and.... I'm a bit annoyed by all these later movies X-Men movies but I'd be a liar to claim Hugh Jackman can't carry a movie. Hopefully you get to The Fountain and The Prestige eventually, really good Jackman performances.

In my mind, Professor X had a clone created by Moira or if he died it would set off some sort of program to create a clone. There's no real explanation for anything other than what you think in your mind. When they soft rebooted the X-Men franchise in X-Men: First Class, Professor X returning in this film was pretty much a "well we messed up" moment from the producers at Fox.

This was a movie to make up for that origins movie. Remember these were YEARS apart when they came out. By that time most of the og XMen actors were doing other things and even Hugh Jackman said he wasnt sure about doing another until he saw the script. This movie kinda Rejuvenated the franchise and made ppl want more. But which cast do they use? This made everything perfect for the next movie which is my favorite of all the franchise.

I think the part that throws ppl off, since its never explained, is how he still looks the same. Then again, him saying “you’re not the only one with gifts” they could easily explain it by saying there’s a shapeshifter mutant like Raven/Mystique who used their powers to make the new Professor look that way.
