it's a shame a lot of these details were missing in the earlier movies. like the professor and mystique having known each other since kids but they never really acknowledge each other in the old ones. i don't know anything about the comics though so i don't know which is more accurate but some continuity would be nice either way lol

I first watched this high as gd Neptune and had downloaded a copy without subtitles. I didn't even realize in the Argentina or Switzerland scenes thanks to Fassbender's acting being so good plus a little historical background context.

Michael Fassbinder as young magneto was such a brilliant casting choice. He kills this role.

Professor X and Mystique don't have a connection in the comics, in fact she came out of nowhere and took over the Brotherhood from Magneto when he was out of commission. I agree, changing history like this without addressing their lack of connection in the earlier movies is confusing. See also Sabertooth's history with Wolverine.

I like this movie overall but I have three complaints. 1) Darwin's power is literally to survive anything, him dying like a punk was bullshit; 2) Emma Frost would NEVER fetch a drink for a man, she should be a mastermind who dominates every situation; and 3) Nicholas Hoult was badly miscast as Beast and his makeup looks kinda silly.

Oh yeah, in the comics Professor X lost the use of his legs due to rocks falling on him while he was fighting an alien named Lucifer. It was kinda dumb. This version is way better.

There are humans in history that are real heroes. Vasili Arkhipov is one of those heroes. He was one of the commanding officers in a Russian submarine that had nuclear capabilities within the Cuban Missile Crisis. There was an incident that happened between their submarine and a US ship. The officers on board were making the decision to launch a nuclear weapon; which they had authorization from Moscow to do. To do such an action, it took confirmation from three senior officers. He was the only officer to say no. This comic book film with the real backdrop of the Cuban Missile Crisis shows why humanity came close to ending itself. In real life, it took a single person to say "whoa... let's not do this" and it changed the course of human history. Vasili Arkhipov is a real-life hero.
