Cayley

Hi Leo ❤️. Recon this is the movie someone clipped in their post on insta about hidden tech from the past 😎.

Vito

Idk if I’d say it was better but definitely on par with the original.

Steevn Sonder

I feel that! In terms of expanding on and continuing this story I think it’s one of the best sequels we’ve ever gotten to a classic. But not at all to say that it overshadows the original, only compliments imo.

KG

Despite it's incredible art direction and set designs, Blade Runner is still sci fi Ambien.

TylerNorCal

Hell yeah Leo, awesome pick! One of my fav films, and an all-time classic sci-fi...glad you're watching this one. Edit: Yes, it is a masterpiece...you are correct haha! Glad you enjoyed it so much.

Jordan

Classic. Really hope you decide to watch Blade Runner 2049 with Ryan Gosling, one of my favorite movies ever and even better than the original in my opinion

James Therian

There is something about the scene with the Replicant when he releases the dove and wrestles with comprehending the harsh reality of death and life's individual value that hits me like a truck. Such a good movie with brilliant writing.

Vito

💯

Cayley

They Live (1988)

Joachim Blaabjerg

Love these classic picks! You've been on fire lately, Leo. A couple of classic show recommendations: The Wire (Baltimore gangsta shit, all time great series) Battlestar Galactica (great, epic sci-fi, with a tie-in with The Office) Deadwood (western, JF Sebastian brought this to mind)

John Juan

I wanna get into this one kuz havent fully watched the new one yet. But I fell asleep on this twice back in 2017. Yet I remember watching it in the 90s. Its just so damn long, i guess because I know how it ends and am less enthused about it. Great movie but im just one of the few that hasnt watched it repeatedly.

John murray

Cmon dawg where the dbz at???????

Carlos Estrada

My favorite movie❤️. Watch the sequel! The director of the sequel directed the dune movies we watched!

John K

I have seen this movie half a dozen times and I still barely understand it, lol.

VYV77

Gotta second Battlestar Galactica.

VYV77

Surprises and more surprises. Love it. I kinda like it when reactors don't know what they're getting into. It doesn't make you look dumb. It makes you look honest. Now, just because I haven't thrown it out there in a while, "The Hustler" 1961. As always, looking forward to the next one.

Chaos T

Hell yeah!

Stefan Williams

you dont get DBZ for only TWO DAYS and you start fukn complaining.

Adam(Anti)

Ex Machina (2014) for another movie like this, its about a person meeting the first advanced AI human. Its a A24 movie too

C

THE REHEARSAL with Nathan Fielder on HBO — must watch!

SpicyRikers

You really stepped into a deep one here lol, this movie has officially been one of THE biggest inspirations for most scifi related things after it, and for a good reason you probably know by now lol it just drips with style and mystery, when you watch other movies that came out around the same time, it just doesn't compare, even the damm camera angles are cool in this. Also I never really say this, but get the soundtrack to this movie and listen to it with weed, it's amazing, some of the best atmospheric music ever

SpicyRikers

Apparently the actor came up with that line on the spot and just improvised it and they kept it in the movie, what a line !

SpicyRikers

I always thought the reason the replicant test questions are so out of fuckin pocket is because they maybe arent capable of imaginative or adaptive thoughts like humans and it confuses them (at least the less advanced replicants) Also makes me ponder the whole idea that humans can be considered a biological machine, if a replicant is just as advanced as us, does that make them different and less deserving of rights simply because their parts are made of a different material? Wonder what you think on that leo

Riley

TRUE STORY: The original version of Bladerunner 1982 uses no CGI. This is part of the reason why it ages more gracefully than even some modern productions. This absolutely includes the intro sequence with the flying cars and fire and cityscape. This was done via forced perspective models, projected images into smoke/silk transparent screens for the fire and stuff. Douglas Trumbull directed the portion around the giant city in the intro, absolute LEGEND!! After seeing this explanation, I'd watched the intro again like 20x. Mind. Blown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeAprWRoeAQ (Blade Runner special fx breakdown - Hades; not my video please don't hate me for linking)

Filby Pott

This movie is a stone cold masterpiece, I heard the sequel is A+ too If you want more Harrison Ford you gotta check out some thrillers like Witness, The Mosquito Coast, and The Fugitive

El Santo

Leo if you liked this one there is a great Sci-Fi movie that get's slept on all the time. johnny mnemonic with Keanu Reeves. Not exactly who whole AI Replicants story but its set in a Cyberpunk world like Bladerunner and focuses on the politics and corporate espionage that a world like Bladerunner deals with on a daily basis

Cayley

Going by what you mentioned at the very end of this it might be an idea to write a post on here where people only suggest movies that stand alone by themselves instead of you needing to watch 10 movies before them and then those with the most likes can go on your never ending list 😅.

Kluneberg

a good Harrison Ford movie is Frantic (1988) kinda like the original Taken movie. also one of his earliest movies made by George Lucas is American Graffiti (1973)

Kluneberg

i think it also tests their morality. a lot of the questions involved hurting animals. a normal non psychotic human would be repulsed but the replicant just thinks of it as just a thing. although not sure about the boiled dog question, like if it was a test of compassion for dogs or a 1982 joke about the large asian population in the city

Fatal N Felony

should check out the 2nd bladerunner

Adam(Anti)

Its always been perfectly acceptable for people to post request/recommendations here. Its the natural flow on channels like this. Leo will sometimes call it out when people are making demands instead of request(big difference). Leo often post stuff that he picks, and he often post stuff that was recommended. Telling him what he should not watch on the other hand, is kinda lame

Jeremy Skye

Because of this movie, I always play Cyberpunk 2077 with my character wearing a trench coat with a shirt and tie.

Ryan Buckley

Hope you’re having a great day Leo! Remember not to stress yourself out, we appreciate everything you do for us🙏

Gage Nichols

One of these days…. And he’d fucking love it too

Kyndu

"Which way is up". When Richard Pryor was... RICHARD PRYOR!!!

Daniel Watches

but do Androids dream of electric sheep?

Chuck M

Hell yeah Leo one my favorite 80s syfy flicks ridley Scott visual effects on this no other replicant movies holds up to this, also may want check out movie The hitcher with Rutger Hauer it's a crazy 80s movie you'd like it. he did alot movie's in 80s , 90s

John Juan

This is based off of a book by one of my favorite authors Philip K Dick. He's always dabbling in Existentialism and Gnosticism - Constantly asking in his novels "what does it mean to be human?" and often the Andys and monsters are more human than the actual humans. Great flick, great questions.

mira lande

The origami at the end, is a hint that Deckard is also a replicant with implanted memories, which is why the cop knows he dreams of Unicorns. Sequel notwithstanding.

KatieBee

To learn to eat with chopsticks you've gotta learn to cook with chopsticks.

Mathew Rivera

Robocop has no connection to the dredd franchise. Your good

Chaos T

I don't want to live in a world where they don't.

PWMARSH17

Felt so bad for Zora and Priss. A prostitute Replicant with a four year lifespan. The resentment for humans, human men in particular, they must have felt near the end. I always get super upset when they are "retired". Also, the random detail of Decker having a shot of alcohol and blood in his shot glass, after Leon almost wasted him, will always be in my memory. Such good movie making. Also, "Tears in the Rain" speech, for me, is the embodiment of law enforcement having the chance to listen to the monologue of a criminal giving their life story in 10 seconds. What moves people to commit crime and hurt. It is so moving and provides empathy to the audience.

PWMARSH17

No offense, But Ridley Scott added that nonsense (IMHO) later on. He meddled with his original product, like many directors do, when they run out of ideas. Decker's reaction to killing replicants and the "Tears in the Rain" speech at the end mean almost nothing, if they're just talking to other replicants. We need a human perspective and Decker is supposed to be that human element. But I guess at the end it's up to interpretation.

hoodcollector aka BIG HOOD

THE EYES ARE THE WINDOWS TO THE SOUL ...thats what makes the original so great so many interpretations ..as much as i love the sequel i kinda wish they left the original alone

Chaos T

1:12:10 this is something I didn't hear until this watch-through. The song in this sequence is 100% a variation or play-on the song of "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" by the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. That scene is beautiful. It's almost like Rachael accepted what she was and this was the first time we saw her being human. The soundtrack to this film is phenomenal.

Chaos T

PW, it's kind of a weird take to believe Ridley Scott "meddled with his original product" when it was the movie studios who originally did that with the theatrical release. The Final Cut is just what his movie was supposed to be when released in 1982. There wasn't anything added to the Final Cut after the theatrical release that was filmed that wasn't originally filmed. "We need a human perspective" Isn't the "human perspective" a central theme throughout this film? If Decker is a replicant who only knows he's human and carrying out every day human things, then his response is one of humanity. We also see the robot having a human perspective idea play out in this film with Rachael. Her reality was destroyed when it was revealed she was a replicant. By the end of the film, she was one of the most "human" individuals shown in Blade Runner.
