This is a good movie. Sure it doesn’t compare to the OG’s but it has heart and genuinely some good writing. Plus Jackie Chan can’t miss imo

This movie is not as good as the classic at all, Jackie or no Jackie. The movie is called the karate kid NOT the kung fu kid...not to mention that Jackie beating up a bunch of kids doesn't really have the same effect as Pat Morita kicking the ass of teenagers less than half his age. I can go on and on, but oh well it is what it is.

Would be a cool way to get the community involved and might be a nice change from the random style drops every once in a while. Almost every reactor I follow with a significant following has some kind of community-based involvement except for you, a little structure even if just a poll would make a huge difference imo.

Been hoping you get back to Jackie Chan eventually. The Hong Kong movies he did (Police Story 1-3, Who Am I?, Rumble in the Bronx, Drunken Master 2) have some of the best choreographed fights and most insane stunts in cinema.

The original is the original and will always be number one. However, there are a few things, IMO, in this one that are better. Jaden Smith is so very much more graceful and athletic than Ralph Macchio. The drunk Han scene with the silhouettes on the wall was absolutely beautiful, and nothing in the OG franchise can really compare.

This movie SHOULD have been called The Kung-fu Kid. Jackie Chan wanted it to be, but the director wanted to draw in fans of the OG series, and called this a "remake".

I can't remember if you watched Kung Fu Hustle, but the same director made Shaolin Soccer which is a great movie with "lessons" about kung fu.

I also went into it with a open mind. I love Taraji P Hinton. And I saw Jaden in a movie where his girlfriend has cancer and dies. I can’t remember the name of it, but it was really beautiful and he did a good job. Nia Long is in it. I enjoyed this version. Jaden physically prepared for this role. His workouts were grueling.

I watched maybe a mini documentary on the filming of this film. They interview Jada. She said at one point the training was so grueling that Jaden sometimes would cry at night, because he was in so much pain from the workout. She would complain to Will. You have to give it to Jaden. He really really put the time in. Impressive.

🤣🤣aye Leo that song in "the suicide squad" "people who died who died" 💀💀James Gunn made that movie but that song was also used in the end credit scene of "dawn of the dead" which has Zack Snyders work on it 💀💀 (it doesn't mean anything though just a funny fire coincidence)

This movie is leagues better than the 4th Karate Kid for me. Not even Mr. Miyagi could save that one. The fight sequences in here are way crazier than anything from the other KK movies but they really should have called it the Kung Fu Kid and just referenced Mr Miyagi somehow in the film to add a tie in, instead of riding off the old trilogies hype. I feel like it would have been better received that way by fans as it wouldn't have imposed on the OG 3 but still would have been a nice piece of lore for the universe. Regardless of Jaden's acting ability or lack thereof. I also feel like some folks are seeing Jaden and his actions/views from today rather than the kid he was when filming this movie. I'd def check out that 4th Karate Kid just to have all the lore down tho, it's still a fun watch if you're a fan of the franchise.

Nothing compares to the originals in most cases for remakes, this is no exception (imo) but its still a good movie. I bought the bluray at a local pawn shop for $5. And was able to use the Sony rewards from it, and it comes with a PS3 theme if you run it in the console. Had some other features but I think they were already taken offline at the time. Also teaches mandarin in the special features. Back when Sony was trying really hard to push Blu-ray device purchases.

You were accurate on so much in the outro. My niece is of THAT generation, she loved Justin Beiber, and Jaiden Smith because of the song, which made her love the movie (at the time) yet she cant be bothered to watch the OG films. And as for the choreography, this IS a Jackie Chan film. You know hes gonna kill it in the action scenes in screen or behind a camera. As for the newest movie, havent seem it yet but no doubt its a money grab. However, after the success of Cobra Kai series, and the Nostalgia combo with Danny and Jackie, it’s definitely gonna get watched by me. If there are similar writers who are passionate about it like in Cobra Kai, it may just be great… for a money-grab that is.
