Rivalries are a great troupe in anime. It takes two characters on the same side or with similar goals, then it give reason for the one of them to have drive to push past their limits in hopes of surpassing the other. Vegeta and Goku is one of the most iconic examples of this. But its in pretty much in all the best shonen animes. Hey Leo, watch the Akira(1988) movie, its considered a cultural phenomenon, it should be the first standalone anime movie you watch. You will understand why afterward. The dark look and grit to these classic animes hits different

Haha, true! 😂 The entire Dragon Ball Z series has 291 episodes total (including filler), so that means he still has 162 episodes left to go! If he sticks to just 1 episode per week, he won’t finish Z until September of 2028! Now what if he decides to keep going with Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super afterward? Well, If he does watch GT (which has 64 episodes), then that would take him until December 2029! Dragon Ball Super has 131 episodes, which would push the finish line to May 2031! ***Even if he skips GT (which I personally love) and goes straight into Super, he’d still be watching until January 2030 to see the end of the Tournament of Power. ***

@Michelle, as someone who started dbz back in like '02 but hasnt gotten around to Super yet outside of the first 2 or 3 movies, how does it compare to Z? Worth giving it a go?

Absolutely! I'm pretty sure I know which 2 movies you're referring too and they really reinvigorated the franchise. The movies basically cover the first 27ish episodes, so if you wanted, you could skip that part. The series covers the same events and adds in only insignificant differences. I personally recommend that ppl watch all of it, just because it's more content haha After that, there are about 5 more sagas with some of the best fights ever (even stacking up against classic GOAT fights that are coming up soon) A shit ton of sick new characters, a BUNCH of new forms and transformations, some changes to some characters 'canon' backstories and even (without spoiling anything) entirely new universes that come into the mix that have their own Kai's and Gods. Ultimately, it culminates in the biggest fight in the entire shows history. I HIGHLY recommend that you start it ASAP, as it'll help fill in the void you feel waiting for Leo's reactions LOL

Like Vegeta turning SuperSaiyan has its own song called “Hell’s Bells” (I think). Ginyu changing bodies, other characters and “other transformations”. As a pro-wrestling fan I can appreciate a fighter having entrance music LoL

I was one who was bewildered by the Senzu bean not working. i mean its kinda magical Aint it? BUT… healing the body and fighting a virus than can replicate are 2 different things. Even If goku healed, if this super virus is multiplying just as fast, it wont matter. It could be a temporary treatment, like chemo for cancer, but it’ll still be there without the antidote.

I also believe that the movie versions are the best way to consume those first 2 arcs. After that you get 3 fun arcs, a movie then 3 more arcs the anime hasn't animated yet.

The thing is man - you talking about the creators intended it to be 1 at a time - then why they sell it on DVD? You supposed to watch 1 ep on the DVD then pack it up? The show was designed to sell commercial ad time. That's why its so short and why there are the little breaks in the middle. Cartoons = toys = $$$. It's designed to give you 30 min worth of entertainment out of 18 min of show. You ain't selling us toys so, to me, it makes sense to have them come 2 or 3 or even 4 at a time. The original medium, the manga, wasn't designed for you to read 2 pages and put it down, you're supposed to read the whole book and then buy another. Ain't no commercials with the manga, ain't no 18 min with the manga. You supposed to read more, the author wants us to experience the story. Airing anything on TV you gotta pay the bills. You don't do ad breaks and DBZ with you is honestly super fun. We're just asking because we're having fun with you. Can't we ask for more fun? Sheesh. I never complain about life coming up or how often you drop. I'm still subbed, ain't going anywhere. But I will always yap about why I think DBZ 2-4 ep at a time makes sense narratively. We're SUPPOSED to watch Vegata whoop 19's ass right after this one. The book store owner didn't knock on someones door after getting 7% thru the manga and saying "hey stop enjoying your book!" This why I hate cable/ commercial TV man. All the commercials and breaks and stopping drives me nuts. Why I prefer Mr Video drops on pateron, no ads, no commercials. Even Amazon and Netflix have ads now. Plus, MR video is funny af and a cool dude. Anyway, happy monday to everyone reading this. Catch me yapping on the next vid. TBH it don't matter how much he shares with us at a time. I'm just one voice casting a line into the ocean of the internet. Might as well get my line wet and put it out there.

Even the cable companies were dropping new episodes every Monday - Friday at 5pm! lol If he did one per day, I don't think anyone would complain at all - Especially, as you said, the episodes are really only like 15 mins long when you cut off the the intro, outro and commercial breaks. You can see how disappointed he looks when the narrator comes in, and then he tells us that he's going to watch another, but the video cuts before he continues LOL

My version has dual audio so i went back and tried to watch this with the Japanese music and my god does it miss and fall flat. Just so lackluster. Glad you made the switch.

There's definitely a mention in DB by Korin who specifically states that they don't heal disease/sickness. Just that it's the equivalent of eating a BUNCH of meals at once and getting all the nutrients and shit. There actually used to be HUGE stockpiles of them, like JARS AND JARS full, but it's implied that yajirobe has been eating them all hahaha

Since you mentioned the creator, he would have most likely wanted you to watch it with the original score but look where we are lmao Just give us the double episodes bro you got no excuse lol I do hope by the end of this arc you've had your fill of the Falconer version and can at least give the rest of us the Buu arc/saga ( 3rd) with the OG score, it's the most memorable imo a long with the GT score. And I've got to say that nothing beats being able to hum or sing and instantly recall the theme songs of an anime you love as soon as you hear it. As hype as the falconer version might be, it changes DBZ and in my opinion was not made to be memorable due to its complexity and constant change, you won't recall any of it by the time you're done with the show. I think you deserve a chance to experience DBZ like the creator intended and there's no better arc than the Buu one to do that with. I agree. Honestly, there's some extremely cringey music tracks coming up LOL. Android vs Piccolo, for example is so fucking bad. They are supposed to stare at each other in silence for a minute while the wind gusts past and build CRAZY tension before the fight. Instead, we get completely made up voice lines and music that makes no sense. Falconer had some decent moments like vegetas SSJ drop, but overall it makes the series sound so fucking goofy. I grew up with that version on YTV (Canadian) and was so stoked when I found the original music on a download.
