Well, chronologically speaking, you're still seeing it all in order. Well, in another sense, Bates Motel was sort of a recreation of the story in general... Have you seen other Hitchcock films like The Birds, Rear Window, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Rope, and so on?

Psycho is an ass movie now days. It only got popular becuase people never saw someone get stabbed like that ina movie before. whole movie leads up 1 one stab scene. It’s not that Psycho is actually “bad”—it’s that a lot of what made it groundbreaking in 1960 has become normal (or even tame) today.

Who Anothony and Janet? Yea there acting was good only 2 people. My point still stands. The movie is less about "is it scary today?" and more about “This is where a lot of what you watch now started.” This is why modern audience who watch it for the first time say it feel its slow, not scary, and overhyped. im not telling him not to watch it, he already did, im just letting him know why he was underwhelmed

Psycho is great for what it did for horror cinema. It was groundbreaking in the 1960s. Generations who've grown up watching SAW are not going to find Psycho as chilling as they did in the 60s. Just like the brilliance of Lucio Fulci and his gore-effects of 1970's Italian horror is not appreciated as handmade effects when CGI makes it so much more real. Fulci deserves his flowers, and so does Hitchcock.

Some great acting, and a l³gendary clever filmmaker do not need to rely on cheap shock value in order to achieve outstanding popular appraisal. Psycho is quite good. Consider the quite good stuff of today. It will be almost entirely forgotten in 5-100 years
