So, Garrett isn't quite correct when he says Voyager had the largest cast. DS9 had 10 main cast with only 9 at most at any one time (as Dax was replaced with New-Dax). Sure, Worf was only around ~as long as 7 of 9, but still for half the show they had just as large a main cast.

Dee McGee

Just finished Season 7 after starting the podcast with Season 5. Excited to start over from the beginning!

Dee McGee

I am watching this question and the response as we speak and it appears to me that Bob answers the question by describing that he stood in front of a green screen and his image was manipulated digitally by computer which makes sense.

Jamie Davis

Please no more vimeo! It's terrible on mobile.

Chloe E

Wear your honorary nurse badge proudly, Robbie! We do way more than field medics (in my completely biased nurse opinion)! Let us know in which episode you guys think you get the shaking just right! :D

Adriana Guerra

Update: Thank you for the info, I finally was able to see the episode on my TV 👏👏🤗😋🙈 (I had trouble with vimeo and my phone mirroring to my tv 🥺🥺)

AlexisMarCar

Agreed. THE Vimeo interface is difficult to use. It doesn't save my place when I exit then reenter, rewind and fast forward is a pain and cannot turn to landscape. Great show! That "The Voyager" line has been bugging me for 20 years. I'm glad you guys addressed it. I feel vindicated. Honestly I loved the Harry Kim head ache scene and in Caretaker the open handed b'elanna grabbing. Its classic Harry Kim two handed gestures.

Liz Scott

Really enjoyed the podcast! Thanks for putting all this together, I definitely look forward to listening to it! It’s funny, when you guys were talking about filming around all the reflections, it definitely took me back to when I first was learning about shooting video footage. Definitely had footage that had a distinct reflection, when I didn’t get that angle just right! (Even though I can get those angles just right with still photography lol)

James G. Jones

Anyone else having issues getting video to run? Keeps stopping after few minutes and when i refresh it just restarts the video. The caretaker videos work fine.

Jenny

Oh. I’m sure the rest of the podcast that I didn’t put up with Vimeo yet to watch is just as great, and I’m sure there are reasons you’re trying Vimeo, but...it sucks. Doesn’t cast right to the TV, doesn’t save your spot, skipping back is annoying (tap to bring up the toggles, then hit rewind - and then Vimeo snaps it to fullscreen then back to widescreen on iOS (iPad, since it won’t go right to my tv from my phone) each time you skip forward or back), etc. 😕 I’d literally pay more per month for weekly episodes that are convenient and Just Work, via YouTube (doing access to only users specifically shared with, vs unlisted, would be annoying on all ends, but I’d actually go to $15/month for that...I think...or some new $10 tier for the YouTube interface one way or another? 😕), and I’m someone who’s pretty cheap. But since I’m old enough to have gotten into Voyager with my mom (who raised me on TNG from the time I was in kindergarten), I’m also old enough to want my fun (and paid) entertainment to just work and not annoy me in the process. 😔 (I mean, I love these, and I’m not going anywhere, because these are great and worth paying for, but...I want to make sure I’m chiming in with an anti-Vimeo vote, if there’s any room for reconsideration. 😕 It’s actively annoying, especially it snapping the video to iPad-ratio fullscreen and then back to the correct widescreen *every time* I skip back a few seconds.)

Copilot Neil Studd

I never had a problem with "the Voyager", although it does feel weird with 7 subsequent series of it being referred to as "Voyager". In TOS/TNG it was always "the Enterprise" - Picard never said "Enterprise has been summoned to Starbase 42" - so there was precedent for it. I wonder why it sounds fine for the Enterprise but not the Voyager?

Copilot Neil Studd

Great episode and great to see/hear Robert too! I was hoping you might edit his video so that he gradually shrunk as the conversation went on 😄 One more vote for "please use YouTube rather than Vimeo" though, if you're still just at the stage of figuring out which works best. Basically, exactly what Jean said - with YouTube I can just click the "watch later" button in the embedded video, and 10 seconds later I can pull it up on the account on my TV. Vimeo is just a bit icky for that sort of thing.

Jessica Edmonds

Haven’t watched yet, but just wanted to join the band wagon of requests to switch back to YouTube for future uploads. I groaned as soon as I saw the Vimeo link. Always have problems with that site. I understand there might be some concern that even post as unlisted on YouTube some people might share the link. But I think most fans, especially in this group are cool enough not to. And even if a few people are jerky enough to do that, I think a handful of free loaders aren’t worth sacrificing the ability of everyone here to easily access it. Just trying to be constructive, no disrespect intended. I know all the kinks are still being worked out. Thanks for making this podcast, can’t wait to watch!

Adriana Guerra

Great episode! Happy you guys talked about Seska's uniform, that was weird to see. I agree with you Robert, B'ellanna's attitude was a bit annoying at the beginning of the episode but then when she open up I started to care and was happy then when she was promoted. Nice that they showed that women can work together. I loved to hear how you felt about your skills as a pilot, and how your skills were not utilized in this episode 😂😂. I never understood why they assigned you to be a backup for sick bay...I mean Voyager needs his best pilot to be on the bridge at all times in my opinion 😁😎😎❤️ I really like Harry's headache scene, your hair had/has the best bounce on TV (imo) I'm jealous 👏🌼🌼🥰 I'm enjoying the podcast so much!! Thank you!

Charity Ponton

I'm with you on "The Shatner Headache" and "The Voyager". Also, as much as Robbie mentions he wishes he had played a more laid back Paris, playing him the way he did early on allowed the character more room to grow and the character development in Voyager is better than any of the other ST series'. Thank you for the Robert Picardo guest appearance. He is a joy to watch. Great job you guys :)

Matthew Wilcoxson

Another great show. Had no problems watching. And thanks for more explanation on some of the Hollywood terms. I find it interesting to hear how the show was filmed, the techniques and technologies used, etc. All good! And I've begun to stream the Voyager episode silently at the sime time, it works really well, so I'd recommend it (I'm using Netflix) And obviously, Tom and Harry are my favourite characters... that Doctor guy was just the worsed... ;)

AlexisMarCar

Yeah, I did notice that about Enterprise. I think its because I didn't really watch in order and I was used to everyone simply saying "Voyager". I was a kid at the time and only watched Voyager so continuity was a big deal to me I guess 🤣 Personal preference. 🙃

AlexisMarCar

100% on the hair bounce....actually just the whole hair situation in general.

Adriana Guerra

Thank you for having Robert Picardo on the podcast I really enjoyed the episode. I'm going to watch it again tonight 😎😋

Spooky

I second this, I am in the anti-vimeo vote. For my setup, I was getting the unlisted video in my history and then playing back on the TV through the youtube app on the console. Vimeo is no bueno, I could watch on the laptop, but I use that for work and I like to put things on the tv as a background. I'll go with whatever as I am supporting this long haul, but my two cents is that youtube worked very well, I know there is the issue with being unlisted and people sharing the video outside of the paywall, but in terms of player reliability, vimeo is quite poor. Either way, I LOOOOVE what you guys are doing, its joyous, fun and engaging and sooo nostalgic. LLAP - Spooky

Pyrue

I'm here to get on the "back to youtube" train, too.

Nikyah Brewer

My favorite line. "It's the Voyager, It's us."

Susan Potera

I also am not a fan of Vimeo, but I get what I get :-) Also, I tend to treat this like a zoom session and wave good bye at the screen at you guys, even though I know you can't see me, but I like to wave back LOLOLOL

sab ewell

Garrett: for what it's worth I always found the humor for Harry to be in his facial expressions and reactions to others. I actually think all the characters had their own humor. That's what I love about the show and all the characters is, they are layered and there is always more to them then just what's on the surface.

sab ewell

Robbie: OMG YES. I'm a sci fi nerd and I love time travel but even I was like, Tom is making perfect sense to me 😂

Chris In the Evening

This podcast is great. I was never a fan of DS9, so I wasnt into the podcast hosted by the guys who played Jake and Nog, but I have otherwise been waiting for a podcast by TNG or Voyager cast members. And I love the rewatch format.

Chris In the Evening

I love Bob Picardo, so no offense but he didnt quite get the question he was asked. Robbie wanted to know how the scene was shot, and Bob basically described the scene without explaining anything, lol.

Deborah

"It's the Voyager!" should 100% be your next podcast t-shirt ... :D

Breana Harris

This was awesome! B'Elanna is my favorite character because she's not funny. Just kidding. It would have been nice to convey that she actually wanted to be chief engineer before she got it, because she seems like she doesn't care either way. For some reason I didn't realize how much of the more technical aspects of the show you'd be talking about, but I love it. I've seen these episodes so many times, and I've never noticed what you notice having been on set. Robbie, I've really appreciated the insight into what you do and the gracious way you elaborate on things. I wish you'd taught one of my production classes in grad school! I also appreciate how you guys took a moment to acknowledge that Seska rules.

Adriana Guerra

I also like when we see Robbie watch the episode 😂 he was like What?..Why? LOL 🙈🙈

Caroline Aching

Died laughing when Robbie sees himself say "It's the Voyager!" 🤣 was dying to see the response on it from you guys! I am a super B'Elanna fan so this episode is a win for me. I always thought I was an epic nut for saying WARP PARTICLES at my trek friends for years lol! I am not alone!!! Great review guys! I also wooped it up when Bob showed up lol I got so excited 😃

Eve Mercer

Once again, well done! This is the much needed break I was looking forward to after my busy day with seven kids! You had me laughing, so much my kids wanted to know what I was watching! Thank you!

Stephanie Baker

I really enjoy watching Robbie's reactions to the episodes as they happen. I really like the comments about the scenes, eg that Robbie filmed the "It's the Voyager!" scene on 2nd unit. I had noticed that he looked different, but didn't understand why. And Tom couldn't fly the shuttle, because he had to be ready to "punch it" and fly the Voyager through the opening. My Winner was Torres and my Loser was the Doctor since he was getting ignored for the entire episode. My favorite scene is Women in Science. (And the women were NOT sexualized). Thanks for another great episode.

Paul Johnston

I must admit one reference in the early days of it being called 'THE Voyager' is quite fun and makes it unique. I think Robbie is more expressing his experience in the 2nd unit direction as a but weird at the time and so the line is equally weird. But as a viewer its a fun reference used once - only my opinion 🙂

Paul Johnston

It was heart warming to see Robbie, Garret, and Bob on screen all at once in a little reunion. Was a tad sad it was all too brief. But yes loving the stories and insights - fantastic.

Canaffle

Really great episode guys. As much as I think "The Voyager" is so silly - cutting a hole in the event horizon is impossible also requiring soil for a hydroponics bay is just also silly. Thanks again for providing us with your insight into the episode. Loved Robbie's reaction to Seska "Scciiiiennnnnncceeee???????"

Norman Buchwald

Now this is really cool. The Doctor appearing when you least expect him. ;)

Nikyah Brewer

That was fun. I can't wait to see next week. I love picking the winner and loser of the episode. I've been doing that forever. Well, not so much the loser part. I'm looking forward to seeing how they match up.

Angela

Another great podcast! Seeing Robbie watching the episodes at home is a blast. The insights into each episode are cool, but I must admit, I had just as much fun watching Robbie's microphone and hat (or hat brim) disappear and reappear. LOL!!! Looking forward to next week's video.

Katie Puterbaugh

o I was only 6 when Voyager first aired and 12 when it ended. My parents were huge trekkies but I didn't get into Star Trek until Voyager, and part of what drew me in were the strong female roles of Captain Janeway and Lieutenant Torres. I recently re-watched the entire series and fell in love all over again. And today I stumbled upon your podcast. I can't tell you how happy it made me! I signed up and have listened to all of them so far and absolutely love your reviews! Keep them coming!

Richard Moesbergen

Very nice job gentlemen....another enjoyable podcast. I love you recalling some of the more technical aspects of filming and you always take the time to explain the jargon and how it work. Thoroughly enjoying this. Can't wait for Time and Again.

Eve England

Already loving the format of this podcast! Thank you!

Oxey

Great episode!

Heather Sims

When Garrett mentioned that a lot of comments he's heard from fans is how funny the doctor was, it made me a little sad because I do feel like every character added something to the show. I just wanted to let you know that this fan appreciated both or your characters as well as all the other characters!! Very much enjoying the podcasts and hearing all the insights!!!

Mihaela Grasley

Excellent podcast episode, very interesting and full of humor as always! Thank you, Garrett, Robbie and Robert Picardo! I also wanted to say that I realize how much more Garrett wanted to do for his Harry Kim character, especially as a young good actor, aspiring for more. But, to me, despite the restrictions you faced, Garrett, you portrayed an excellent person in Harry Kim, to me you had fun and you were funny at times, but most of all your Harry Kim is the person anyone would like to have as a friend in real life, he is reliable, honest, curious and eager to learn and try new things and an excellent team member... To me, it has to be at lest part of Garrett reflecting in Harry, and that’s truly great acting, not only scripting!

LeeAnne Forsythe

Loving the podcast and I really enjoy all the behind-the-scenes stories and how they did stuff while filming! It’s interesting to know what really goes on off camera and how the scenes are shot.

Daniel de Rooy

Haha I’m so glad the “it’s the voyager” line came up. Like you guys mentioned, Kes saying Emergency Medical Holographic System is kinda excusable for me. Like Starfleet computers are very intuitive and perhaps she wasn’t using the correct wording because she’s new on the ship but the computer recognised what she meant. But Robbie saying “it’s us... it’s the voyager!” wasn’t as excusable but always had me laughing. To be honest Robbie, I understand your wish to redo the show with Paris a bit more mellow, a bit less of a jerk. However, that’s actually what I liked. That he was a bit of a jerk, a bit annoying at the start and slowly evolves into this great guy and family man by the end of it. And I think that was extremely well done by you over the 7 seasons.

Elizabeth Gall

I love how much I'm learning about directing/filming from all this. Thank you guys for getting into the gritty details, I love it!

Eddie Ordaz

I thought the headache scene was good. I just thought man he is hurting!

Dana Greenblatt

I was looking up Starfleet rank insignia because I couldn't figure out why the Maquis didn't get pips. Their rank insignia is called "provisional".

Andrew Hills

You are way too tough on yourself re your characterization. I thought Paris had to be a bit uptight and come across as a jerk at first. So too tension among the crew at the start is only to be expected given the circumstances. Then over time - as in real life - people get to know and become more comfortable with each other through experience. Trust can then built.

Andrew Hills

Also I love the rapport between you and the Doc. It was one of the best things in the show. I especially loved the scene in an episode where I think the Doc was going to leave the ship - you know the one where the aliens who had never experienced music wanted him to stay and perform for them. Anyway, the scene where the Doc says his goodbyes and thanks the crew - ''even Mr Paris''. The look on Robbie's face is priceless :)

Spart0n

Garrett re-doing his headache almost sounds like an orgasm LOL

Brandon Yahn

I'm not showing anything on Vimeo under your banner, am I missing something?

Brandon Yahn

I figured out my issue. Have to let cross site cookies enabled, so it see's I'm logged into Vimeo in order to watch. Excellent. :)

Moonglade

Thanks, guys! Great recap insight & thoughts. "Parallax" is one of my all-time favourite episodes. I thought the tension was necessary this early on in the Starfleet/Maquis crews joining up. I thought it was realistic. To a lot of the Starfleet crew, some of the Maquis were traitors and terrorists. They weren't just going to meld and play together nicely from the get-go. Also, I think relationships like Chakotay and Tuvok then had somewhere to go over the course of the seven years. It was good to see how they started off suspicious and at logger-heads in the way they got things done and slowly developed respect for one another. I think Chakotay actually says in an episode ("Night" ?) that he and Tuvok will likely never be friends but that he's come to respect Tuvok's judgement. Also, I agree 100% on Beltran's/Chakotay's salt n pepper buzzcut hair. He looked fabulous! He had a definite edge to him with that hair. Beltran is a beautiful, masculine man - yes, beautiful - and even the matinee idol hair couldn't change that, but I do think Chakotay lost that edge when they dyed his hair black. It wasn't just the hair change that did this imho there were other factors eg: going from Maquis rebel to towing the Starfleet line so fast, but damn! I miss that buzzcut! Other favourite things in this episode include the B'Elanna and Chakotay relationship/history. It added depth/backstory to both characters and I wish the writers had explored it more over the course of the show.

The Irish Buddhist

Enjoyed this recap on 'Parallax' and would have to say what I draws me most to this episode is the character development between B'Elanna and Janeway, going from a power struggle of two very intelligent and some what strubborn individuals that eventually break through their differences over their mutual background and love of Science and Engineering. The two seem to build a mother/daughter like bond up until the arrival of Seven of Nine, then it fades out. A subject I know many of us would have loved to seen recaptured. But overall this episode was a nice little 'hello' to the world saying women can Captain a Star Ship and be a Chief Engineer, (even in this fictional setting) if they put their hearts and minds to it.

Lara Lawrence

My hubby and i started rewatching ST:Voy the day before your first pod cast, (rewatching for me, first time ever watching for him), and I yelled out - why is he saying The Voyager....... oh and I’ve just subscribed to your patreon, first time I’ve ever been part of a patreon. Meanwhile, we have almost finished season 2. Woohoo. Still a huge Paris/Torres OTP fan.

John Rogers

Love this. Just a note, I think paris' commission was to full Lt, not Lt JG as he has two full pips. In a much later episode he's demoted to JG I think but I could be wrong.

LT Turner Jr

Another great episode - thanks so much! Love how you brought in Robert Picardo. So loving these. :)

KariAnna Bedsole

Can we please get merch that says "IT'S THE VOYAGER"

Alina Wood

Best guest intro ever.

Andrew Murray

I thought B'elanna was a bit more aggressive and bit Carey on the nose or something.

Red Moon

When Robert looked at the camera and said "It's the Voyager" I DIED

Ryan Murphy

Pretty sure the pips never changed for the Maquis

Eric Leitman

you are correct. Also, I believe Tuvok didn't become a Lt. Commander until "Revulsions" in season 4. Buy in the scene with him and Chakotay in the corridor you see that Tuvok has 3 pips

Rogue Ally

I believe B’Elanna’s did because they realized they gave her Lt and not Lt Jg pips (or vice versa? Whichever she was supposed to have, she didn’t).

Christina

Great episode! Very fun watching instead of simply listening. You guys are great!

Rachelle H

Mr. McNeil maybe that's why Chuck was so good you gave those characters free reign.
