I want the Tom Paris drink recipe of The Kes 🙃

Chris Tribuzio

You learn a lot in prison (or so I’m told) so it wouldnt shock me of Paris traded the laundry daily duty for being a seamster (?).

Ron Sorrell

Most people in Canada still use pounds for weight and feet/inches for height. When you purchase meat, the price us shown per lb and per kg

All government related measurements are metric. It's just trades people and regular folk that are keeping imperial alive.

Eye of the Needle is one of my favorite episodes of the series. I rewatched it over the weekend in anticipation of this podcast episode. Little did I know that there would be the added bonus of a metric system discussion. I laughed when Garrett mentioned his line of "like a snake through a tube" because I had just rewatched the episode yesterday that had the infamous line. Kim said it in The Swarm from Season 3 when Voyager made it through a sensor net undetected, or more appropriately, like a snake through a tube.

Shortcut way to get better at going from F to C and km/h to MPH is just to memorize the conversions for a few helpful reference points, like 30, 45 and 60 MPH, or 10, 20 and 30 C.

Elisabeth Westner

The term for a male seamstress is "tailor." You're welcome.

Also: here's a trick for figuring out C/F temperature conversions. Take the Celsius measurement, double it, then add 30. Do the reverse for F. Yes, it's not perfect and it's certainly the lazy way of doing it rather than multiplying by 5/9 or whatever the real conversion factor is, but it'll get you in the ballpark so that you can figure out if you need a sweater or not.

Megan Hurwitt

This was one of my favorite episodes of the whole series.

Jeremy Martin

Loved the podcast, as usual! Tom Virtue did come back for two more stories as Baxter though, the season 2 episode "Twisted" (where they do refer to him by name), and the 2-part "Workforce" in the final season. 😊

Kellie Evetts

So, Canadian here. I remember when we switched to metric. I was in elementary school. So, those holdovers are most likely us of a certain age. 🙂
