i really like how Ensign Mariner made fun of the odd pronounciation of Sensors on Lower Decks

Diana Meredith

I liked this one. I always thought it was cool to include Amelia Earhart, and I thought Janeway knew a lot about her because she was one of her childhood heroes. It worked for me.

Nevin

Pretty sure that’s just how Vulcans say “sensors.” I believe Ethan Peck does the same as Spock and tbh it feels right 🤷🏼‍♂️

Nevin

Yesterday I watched this episode of Voyager and today an episode of SNW where they mention Starbase Earhart. The universe is a funny place.

About the small crew compliment, don't forget a BUNCH of people died or got hurt when Voyager got violently yoinked into the delta quadrant. I don't think it's ever specified how many crew were lost in that incident. Also, what's that video about a constantly-changing graph of characters' screen time? I'd love to see that, if you still have a way to find it!

Commander Connor

Not me briefly forgetting voyager is not set in the present and being like 'howd they have 100,000 kids in <100 years' and getting as far as trying to work out the logistics before realising filmed in the 90s doesn't mean -set- in the 90s. I promise I'm not as dumb as that makes me sound.

Andrew Emanuel

This episode belonged in a later season like a few years into their journey 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great job guys! Very entertaining! Hope for more guests - b'elanna seven tuvoc and more soon! Hope the doc reappears as a guest. Can i suggest the Borg Queen as a guest? I never watched voyager when it came out but have rewatched it several times the past few years (H&I channels broadcasts all the serieses nightly) and I ended up loving it so it is still very fresh to me and this podcast came along at the right time! Finally a fun podcast on a subject I like!

Glam City Rocker

Also Lt Barkley as a future guest suggestion!

Claire Schuerman

Per the numbers of the crew question your are forgetting everyone who was killed in the pilot when the ship got thrown into the delta quadrant It’s never made clear how many people died, we see at least 6 are killed but we can assume at least a few more

Brigida Romano-Ryan

I didn't love this episode but I enjoyed hearing you guys review it!

Can't wait until The Year of Hell :) Keep it up.

Lenny Corbett

I'm starting to think Robbie just hates Voyager!

Yanz

I think season 2 continues a bit slowly so I hope Robbie stays focused lol! But these recaps are so fun and they have me cracking up while I’m working! Thanks!

Elisabeth Westner

I love that Robbie was wearing an Appalachian Trail hat, since I was just hiking (part of) it this past weekend. 😊

Peter H

You teases!! Can’t wait to hear some of the backstories to the issues raised! My only comment/request is could the audio be a bit more balanced between Garrett and Robbie? I realize there are lots of challenges not being in the same space, same mic, etc. But at times, if was difficult to hear Robbie and then got blasted by Garret’s fantastic enthusiasm! Not a make or break thing, hopefully it’s received as a constructive criticism.

James Monroe

Re: crew complement, there was an article in Star Trek: The Magazine somewhere around 2004 that did a pretty great job of trying to track the number through all 7 seasons. I think the smaller crew complement to start with because of the short intended duration of Voyager’s first mission...probably were short some science staff (and we know, no counselor) as it was just a short term tactical mission to find/return Tuvok.

Luke Ciancio

I feel like this episode was meant to be the finale, given they have such a big decision to make at the end of the ep. Also I do remember that the VHS collection did list this episode as the final episode of season 1.

Richard Craig

Luke’s comment makes sense - I also thought it might have been simple continuity - get the eps which were filmed in the first production season out of the way so that the subtle changes in the actors’ appearances was less jarring? Imagine the showrunners may well have chosen a better episode as the premiere but then this episode would have aired deeper into the season - possibly between two second production season episodes - calling more attention to any small changes in actor appearances?

marsbitrona

How cool would it have been if Amelia Earhart was part of the Voyager crew for the next six years? It would sound silly on paper, but Agents of SHIELD brought on a character from the past and it worked as a great alternative perspective on the sci-fi madness happening every week.

Elias Nordling

I have to say being captured by Amelia Earhart's drunken just thawed 500 year old navigator was a low water mark of the competence of the Voyager crew.

Elias Nordling

There is an alternate universe where Voyager ends with the ship getting back to Earth with Amelia Earhart at the helm. And holo-DaVinci as science officer.

Roger Hart

New to the podcast and just listened to the 37s (July 2022) - I don't know if anyone's mentioned it in the meantime but I'd venture to say that Tim Russ pronounced sensors with the emphasis on the 'SOARS' because that's the way Leonard Nimoy as Spock pronounced it at least several times on the Original Series.
