The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Twisted. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

Twisted:
A spatial distortion phenomenon occurring inside the ship changes Voyager's structural layout by twisting and compressing it.

I actually like this episode fine. The ending is weird, but the whole concept is cool. Kirsten Beyer incorporated these wave distortions in one of her relaunch novels. It ended up being an interesting book.

So I've heard people say that voyager was at times episodic to a fault and this episode really exemplifies that for me - if they followed up on it and had something come of it even a whole season later it would have been a really cool episode, but as it stands the ending has always bugged the heck out of me

Welcome to Vancouver! 😎♥️😎🎉🎉🎉🎉

Mulgrew is actually captioned in netflix and the gibberish is "It's talking to me do nothing"

Iain Miles

Interesting to hear the cast largely hated this episode. I enjoy it and when the series aired in the UK I would have been about 8 or 9 and for some reason this episode stuck in my memory for ages. Not entirely sure why

Ren Hearty

I actually really like this episode. It's a nice change from the typical "innocent alien visitor who *shock* turns out to be bad" thing voyager had going a lot of the time. You can fight me on this, but mysterious space anomaly episodes of star trek are the best! I also thought Harry looked especially glam. Maybe it's maybelline?

Twisted made no sense in that the “map” that was created by the wandering crews’s tri-corder data didn’t show the right amount of displacement. Tom’s mugging for the camera was fine. Part of his character is to not take situations too seriously. I agree with Garret and Bobbie, in that great echoey set up in the teaser didn’t pay off.

Stefen Hudson

Robbie's setup definitely sounds better with whatever microphone that is. For most of the earlier episodes of the podcast there was a bit of an echo.

Noel

I thought this was one of my favorites but I was thinking of Oblivion. It looks like there will be more Neelix jealousy coming up.

Hi, there, you never answered James's question about how you feel about Sandrine's being written out of Voyager after this. This gives me the excuse to mention that I have lived in the French-speaking world for over 35 years and last week was the FIRST time I ever met someone named Sandrine! (Of course, I don't live in France, so that's probably why).

Lauren Taylor

This episode does seem to be popular with fans (though I will agree that the ending sucks). Maybe it’s just a different perspective on things when you work on the show.

Elisabeth Westner

Hi Robbie, your Antony voice was hilarious and you must keep doing it. Is it too late for you to start your character actor career? I think you'd be great at it.

Yule Tide

What's the reason this episode is noticeably more popular with fans than with the actors?

Ian Murphy

I also always enjoyed this episode. I always considered it an episode of the *aliens* show, when they encounter The Voyager, but we don’t see their perspective, just that of The Voyager’s crew. When I saw it years ago, without closed captioning, it was more confusing and suspenseful. Having Janeway’s garbled lines captioned filled in some blanks, but robbed the episode of some of its mystery.

Tom De Maeyer

This is also one of my favorite episodes, just love the mystery and the concept.
